Phoenix Team One: Selected (Mythical Alliance: Phoenix Team Book 1). By Claire Luana.
This story follows Zariya and her quest to find out the true cause of her furthers death. I won’t give anything away, I will say I loved this book, it’s maybe not as long as I would like, purely for selfish reasons, because I was drawn in and I didn’t want it to end. It does not fall short like some shorter books tend too. If you like fantasy, action and romance you will love this book. I would highly recommend to anyone. A truly great read.
Felt bad for Zariya. Pretty much everyone in her life is lying to her. Story was steady paced. Characters likable. Book was pretty much an introduction to the world and characters. Need the next book to really see what I feel about the series as to where it leads.
„Phoenix Selected“ marks the start of a brand-new urban fantasy series by Claire Luana: “Mythical Alliance: Phoenix Team” and introduces Zariya Chanji who is convinced that her father was indeed assassinated and not a victim of some random accident as the official version goes.
As Zariya decides to launch her own investigation she crosses the path of MASC (Mythical Alliance of Supernatural Creatures) an organization that regulates the lives of supernaturals as Zariya herself, a hybrid human/naga, which by the way is one of the most original and coolest supernatural characters in UF to date.
Zariya is convinced that the organization is indeed responsible for her father’s death and will stop at barely nothing to prove her theory. Unfortunately, the more secrets she unearths the harder to solve everything seem to become, to the point that it almost becomes impossible to distinguish allies from enemies. And attracting the attention of a powerful and rather steamy vampire only servers to further uber-complicate Zariya’s mission.
The book is fast-paced and action-packed and reflects the typical writing style of Luana’s other works. The world building is solid and appealing with reminiscent of NYC. The MC is original and very likeable, and the secondary character enjoyable and well developed. Some parts of the story are purposely let in the shadows to be surely be explained in future installments, to better suit the pace of the story. The episodical format of this series (about 100 pages per book) guarantees a fast reading, offering a story-arc that extends through various ‘”episodes”, thus beware of cliffhangers, but…. as the next book is already scheduled to be released in about one month’s time… the best joy is anticipation
All in one, a very good start in a new UF Verse
Luana is incredibly gifted and this latest book lived up to my expectations. This page turner left me riveted from beginning to end. I really can’t say a whole lot because my mind is just filled with everything I just read. I’m afraid I might spoil it. Suffice it to say, this is a must read for fantasy lovers. Luana is a gifted author and these characters simply jump off the page. Once you start, I promise you will not be able to put this book down!
Phoenix Team One: Selected by Claire Luana
Four Stars
Phoenix Team One: Selected is the first book in the Mythical Alliance: Phoenix Team Series by Claire Luana. This short story was packed with action. I read it in one sitting because I just couldn’t put it down. This is the first book I have read by Claire Luana, but definitely won’t be the last. I really look forward to reading the rest of this series. This story flowed and the character descriptions were awesome. Zariya is a strong lead character and I can’t wait to see how she evolves and grows into her position at MASC. if you like paranormal with a bunch of action and adventure, this is the book for you.
Phoenix Team One: Selected by Claire Luana is the first book in the Mythical Alliance: Phoenix Team series. This is an exciting new series from an author that knows how to create fantastic stories.
I knew this book was going to be a good one when I was intrigued from the moment I read the description. Add that to the fact it is written by Claire Luana – who in my opinion knows how to write amazing books – then it was one of those I just had to read immediately. Right from the word go I knew I wasn’t going to be disappointed.
This is such a strong start to what I am hoping will be yet another amazing series. The author has created a whole host of brilliant characters. They are varied, unusual and interesting to read about. The story itself is also well developed. It draws you in so easily and before you know it you are utterly hooked. It is fast paced and action packed. This is one of those books you just can’t put down. I am very excited to see what is next in line for this series.
This is the first book I have read by Claire Luana and let me tell you, it definitely won’t be the last! I read through Phoenix Team One: Selected (Mythical Alliance: Phoenix Team Book 1) in one setting, and I cannot wait to read book two!
Zariya is such a beautiful character, she shows so much strength in the face of grief. It felt like I was reading her soul. I got a Shadowhunter vibe from this book, but this book is definitely it’s own thing. Claire Luana did an exquisite job bring to life a mythical creature that you don’t read about as much, the naga. It intrigued me. I can’t wait to see where this fast-paced story goes next, and I can’t wait to get to know the characters more. If you’re a fan of fantasy, different worlds, and mysteries this series is for you!
Phoenix Team One: Selected (Mythical Alliance: Phoenix Team Book 1) by Claire Luana is an urban fantasy paranormal tale full of every kind of mythical creature and action and suspense. I enjoy Claire’s writing and she is becoming one of my go to authors. It is a short story but it does not take away anything from the story and the plot is solid, in fact it leaves you wanting more. Our heroine has just discovered that everything she thought she knew has been turned on its head with the death of her father. I want more and can’t wait for the next book.
What a fun little story Phoenix Team One: Selected (Mythical Alliance: Phoenix Team Book 1) by Clair Luana was. Some sadness, a little romance, plenty of action and mystery. This story is a quick little read and well worth your time. It’s well written and the lead character Zariya Chanji is quite enchanting. Reads like the start of a really good series to me.
I am already a huge fan of this author and this new series does not disappoint. It is a quick read with fantastic characters and plenty of action to keep your interest. I am excited for more in this series and from this author.
Phoenix Team 1 by Claire Luana is a 4 star read.
Zariya Chanji is half naga, half human raised by her father after her mother died in childbirth. When he father dies she knows something isn’t right about the story she’s been told, she’s convinced he was murdered and will do whatever it takes to find out the truth.
This book started off quite slow and I struggled to get passed the first few chapters but I’m glad I stuck with it because it turned out quite good.
Zaryira is looking for her the reason for her dad’s death. Kiki is her friend
Konstantin is well who is he.
Wow this book is amazing action packed from the start. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys supernatural and Shifters. You want action packed adventure with crime thrown in you’ve come to the right book. Once I started I couldn’t put this book down 5 out of 5.
I’m a huge fan of Claire Luana and this did not disappoint! I loved the unusual characters and creatures that we meet. The book was exciting and real (or as real as you can get with mythical creatures). I was hooked and ready for the second episode right away.
Truth is relative to the needs of those relating it
Whether accidental or not, uncovering s different truth and attempting to attach a vengeance cost to it may have a very high cost, or several devastating consequences
Zariya might want to consider if this is a course of action or a way of life her father would have wanted for her
Funny thing. Life is for the living. Pursuing death does not bring rainbows, sunshine or contentment of any kind, it might lead to a different association with death – or just the destruction of trust and your friends
Intense KU series!
Be prepared to have your socks knocked off your feet as you get eclipsed in this magical tale following these heroines on their adventures in this book for the ages. This book gives you “Agent of Shield” vibes and I can dig it being a comic book geek. The main characters are heroines, on incredible journeys, and indescribable romances!
In this book we follow Zariya Chanji who believes her father was murdered. She’s determined to uncover what happened even if it means breaking into the headquarters of one of the most dominant operations: the Mythical Alliance of Supernatural Creatures also known as MASC. MASC control the way superheroes live she believes they had a hand in her father’s murder but she’s not certain of why.
When her exploration leads her to the arms of a handsome vampire who is hot on her trail, she feels closer to the truth. She doesn’t know who to turn to or where to turn as the plot thickens. The struggle is to stay alive to unravel the mystery of her father’s death.
This a great read to get wrapped up in at the time of this quarantine and pandemic engulfing us all in fear. It allows us to escape into a different mode. I was surprised and found this book rather entertaining for so many reasons. Check out this page-turner and you won’t be able to put it down as you read cover to cover!
I enjoyed this paranormal story from beginning to end. This is one of my favorites by this author. This is a story that has lots of action, suspense and of course a hot, steamy vampire. Zarlya is convinced her father has been murdered. She is determined to find his killer but in the course of her investigation others take notice of her. The deeper she gets in her investigation the more dangerous it becomes but she is close to finding the killer. Will she survive long enough to find them? The action will keep you turning pages and the vampire will heat them up. I highly recommend this book and this author.

The scenes are so colorfully detailed and descriptive it paints a thrilling backdrop for one mind-blowing culmination. Remarkable job Claire, thanks for sharing this little fella with us.
A good read. This book has a steady world build. The character development is not rushed, the plot is smooth and yet gripping, and the story itself really comes together throughout the book. This is an excellent start to what will be a fantastic series!
Wow this is a fantastic start of this series. It’s epic right from the first page to the last, it’s right up there with divergent. The Author has done a fantastic job at the World building and the Character building. This is definitely a real page Turner, that I could not put down. And I would definitely give it more than five stars. I definitely recommend.
