I’m just a girl trying to survive. Dying? Unexpected. Coming back to life? Even more so. Now these four snarky demons are haunting me. Shirtless. It turns out you can die and live again. At least I can. When a night out goes murderously wrong, I chose leaping to my death over getting tortured. Except it turns out I don’t die like everyone else.I’m a phoenix — or so they tell me. Apparently I need … phoenix — or so they tell me. Apparently I need training at the Phoenix Academy.
What I really need is to get rid of the four demons haunting me wherever I go, showing up when my heart is beating fast — whether I’m nervous, afraid, or well… other things.
But I also wouldn’t mind learning how to light things on fire with my mind or take out a man twice my size with my bare hands. All things the instructors at the academy want to teach me… if I can survive long enough.
Because there’s something deadly lurking in these halls, and it’s coming for me next.

Phoenix Academy: Awaken

Interesting slow burn RH, killer opening sentence! The book kept me reading from start to finish.

Run, Run, and more running
This is a different take for an academy book. I loved and enjoyed this book and let me say that it captures me in the first sentence.
“It all started with a severed dick”
Lol, freaking hilarious! so needless to say that there is some humor in this book. So you meet Dani who basically has a rough upbringing and seems to not get any better. Growing up she has always known that she was different but knew not to say things to anyone. She has a tragic experience that just puts the paranormal activity on alert. Then she is brought to a school to help keep.her safe. However with her background she has issues with trust and would rather be alone. Her answer is to run! Well now you need to read the book to see what happens. Trust me, you will not regret it.
Welcome to the first year at Phoenix Academy, a place where the paranormal lives — and dies — and lives again. Just that one line and I am hooked, I have to read this and I was not disappointed! A fab storyline with a kick ass MC and four sexy shirtless demons, I can’t wait to read how their relationships develop!
This is actually a ten star book. The beginning was for me heartbreaking. Ageing out of the foster system, Dani Carpenter is strong, inventive, self-sufficient and suspicious. After a demon summoning gone wrong (Dani being the sacrifice) her whole world changes. The demons attached to her, Ezra, Mateo, Lynx and Sebastian besides being scary and dangerous, end up being really fun. They protect her and are trying to teach her to use her powers and combat techniques. She still has a ways to go to break the foster system mindset that she is worthless and a disappointment. Mind you she still hasn’t quite gotten the fact she is rare and very worthwhile. This book is so freaking good that I didn’t want to stop reading and feel like something is missing for me without the next installment. I can’t recommend this book highly enough, it feels like that is such a washed out term with the suspense and action this book contains. I LOVED it! I requested an advanced reader copy from Booksprout and am under no obligation to leave this review.
Wow. This book is something else. I definitely enjoyed reading this. Fun story for sure…
The story is really good and interesting. A lot of action going on and pretty funny too! I lost count how many times I laughed so hard that my kids and mom stopped to stare at me.
I sort of guessed towards the beginning of the book what was really going on with Dani. Definitely got confirmation towards the end of the book. I like that although it seems like a familiar story about an academy with paranormals, it is still unique. The powers and the characters are so awesome! I love the little harem she has going on as well. Could not have picked a better group of men for her!
This book does end with a cliffhanger but it is really worth reading. I cannot wait for the next book…
