If you’re expecting a whole lot of action like we got in the previous books this one is a bit different. Most of the book is about Boy and Girl Riley’s relationship. It shows us how they came to be together and how they are trying to overcome the obstacle that girl Riley put in their path. I loved Boy Riley and the way he just wouldn’t let her go. But this being Linear Tactical series we get a bit of drama and action at the end of the book that just completes this story.
This book was full of feelings and it had me hooked from first word. I’m a HUGE fan and the next book can’t come fast enough
***Review copy requested and reviewed on behalf of OMGReads blog***
Phoenix follows Echo in that the H/h isn’t military but don’t let that fool you. There is still plenty of action that gets the blood pumping and plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing. I love the idea of two people with the same name falling in love and Ms. Crouch does a masterful job of pulling it off. The “Rileys” are fabulous, well developed and sympathetic, the reader well able to get behind them and root them on. I might have said it before, but this series just keeps getting better. Enjoy!
Ms. Crouch has done it again.
This book has it all. I love all the books in the Linear series, but this one grabbed my heart.
It should not be missed.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Riley and Riley are in a long-distance relationship for quite some time. Always making time for each other online If not in person. Until she decided to break up and everything went to shit. A very emotional story about love, friendship, trust and a little hatred from the outside apart from some suspense as well. I kept wondering what’s with the detour to Egypt in the very beginning through the whole book, just to let it only be revealed at the end.
When the Wildfire Begins……..the Phoenix Rises
Riley Wilde aka a Girl Riley questions were answered and I needed tissues to help me through!!!!!
I’m never going to get tired of reading about the Linear Tactical Men and their Stunning, Vivacious Women. With each story Janie Crouch has created I’ve fallen in love, laughed, cried (& I mean UGLY CRYING), been in the edge of my seat and more and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Girl Riley and Boy Riley’s story has been one I’ve been waiting for and it most definitely didn’t disappoint. These two characters are so exciting and thrill seeking in their own ways yet terrified of losing one another because of what fate has in store for their lives. Boy Riley loves the most extreme things in life, that is until his heart is ripped out without a reason. Girl Riley can’t control everything that seems to be falling apart and when you’re so out of control sometimes all you can think to do is just destroy like a Wildfire does. However just like in a real Wildfire plenty of things survive and as we all know the story of the a Phoenix it RISES FROM THE ASHES……..and this Phoenix isn’t afraid of his Wildfire. What scares him the most is that his Wildfire has been almost extinguished and if that’s the case Phoenix won’t survive because there will be no fire to rise from. This couple is like the Yin and Yang you can’t have one without the other. Boy Riley knows that is Girl Riley truly leaves him behind his next extreme stunt could be his last because what is there to live for. Girl Riley thinks that because of what fate has handed her her life is over and so why go on any longer, it’s time to just jump ship even if she knows that isn’t what she wants. Boy Riley knows that his Wildfire still loves him so he will stop at nothing to make sure she knows he’s not taking her decision lying down. Love knows no bounds and can conquer many many things and just like the Phoenix, Love can rise from the ashes of a Wildfire stronger than it was before. Janie Crouch has an amazing way of making you fall so completely and helplessly in love with her characters almost like you know them. I hope everyone who hasn’t discovered this series yet will and will love it as much as I do.
Boy Riley and Girl Riley have been dating a few years and even with Boy Riley always going out of town with his extreme sports they remained committed to one another. Out of the blue Girl Riley breaks up with Boy Riley and he convinced that something else is going on with her and will do everything he can to find out what it is.
Chapter one is all you need to be hooked on this story. It was exciting and had your nerves on edge with anticipation of what would happen next. I loved how Boy Riley never gave up on Girl Riley and just wanted to win her back. Your heart will go out for the anguish they both go through and you hope they can finally find a happy ending. This has a few twist and turns that will throw you for a loop. I have enjoyed every book in this series. They all have the elements you want in a great adventure.
I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Omg what another stunner from a unicorn author.
Just when you thought she couldn’t fit any more action or drama into a book she proves you wrong.
If you’re anything like me you’ll be sitting there biting your nails from cover to cover, wishing that your coffee would turn into wine.
Wow. So much happens in this book your head will be spinning trying to keep up.
I also love how the author uses everyday realities/outcomes and sprinkles them amongst the non stop action.
Definitely a must read no matter what your preference is!!
Another fantastic book by Janie Crouch!! Phoenix is book 8 in the Linear Tactical series and is still going strong. We hear about Boy Riley (Phoenix) and Girl Riley (Wildfire) quite a bit in the previous books and to finally get their story was awesome!! I was really curious about this book because the majority of the main characters in the Linear Tactical series have military or law enforcement backgrounds. Girl Riley is a nurse who periodically assists in some of the Linear Tactical events and Boy Riley is a world renowned adventure and extreme sports athlete, but in this book we learn he does so much more.
These two have been an item for three years, but out of the blue Wildfire tells Phoenix that they were over. Since he is out of the country, he had no way of talking to Riley to figure out what had changed. Even though Phoenix had other commitments, he was coming home to get some answers and his girl back.
A lot happens to both Phoenix and Wildfire, but what is constant is their connection and the incredible love they feel for each other. This latest book is quite different from the others, but still has the drama, danger, angst and a whole lot of emotions. A definite 5-star read!!
This is the eighth book in this wonderful series and I think this may be the most emotional of them all.
Riley Harrison (Phoenix) and Riley Wilde(Wildfire) are meant to be together They have made a relationship work for three years Phoenix spends most of the year travelling with his career as a extreme sport and youtube star but with the help of skype text and many hours of flying the have managed to make it work. Now Phoenix feels as though Wildfire is pulling away from him and he is devastated when she tells him she wants to break up. This man never admits defeat and there is no way he is going to let the woman he loves walk away from him without answers. In getting those answers Phoenix will put his life at risk when the past comes back to haunt him and Wildfire will realise when she almost loses him that what she thought was insurmountable wasn’t They can still have a future together if they are both willing to work for it. Then the unthinkable happens when Phoenix’s work for Linear Tactical puts the woman he loves at risk with the help of the team will he be able to save her in time.
This book has a different feel to it from other books in the series there is a little less emphasis on danger from assignment and more emphasis on the problems people face in life and how ones reaction to those problems affect you
PHOENIX is the eighth book in Crouch’s Linear Tactical Series and it is a fabulous story! Yet again, the author has surpassed my expectations and created a heart-wrenching, gut-twisting, emotional bomb that is off-the-charts amazing. This book is a bit different than the other books in the series in that it partly stems from the author’s adventurous lifestyle and real-life experiences. It is amazing!
This story is centered on Riley Harrison (Phoenix) and Riley Wilde, or both better known as Boy Riley and Girl Riley to their friends. He is an extreme sports star and adrenaline junky who loves travel and adventure and she is a nurse who loves life and sharing in his adventures when time allows.
Boy Riley is an undercover operative for Linear Tactical and utilizes his adventures and fame to his advantage to get into situations and locations no one else can under the radar. When an off-the-books request from the team derails his current plans he has no idea of the danger he will bring home to Oak Creek. And unfortunately, there is more than one evil hiding in the shadows that will stop at nothing to ensure Riley pays the ultimate price. When a surprising turn of events threatens the love of his life the Phoenix will rise again!
Girl Riley is keeping a secret that will irrevocably change her life in unforeseen ways and she is desperate to keep it to herself. She is determined to keep the news from Boy Riley as long as possible so she pushes him away, trying to force him to go on with his life and keep living his dream. She thinks she knows Riley but seriously underestimates the lengths he will go to find answers and prove that they are meant to be. The more she pushes, the more he digs in; it is a heartbreaking battle of wills and an emotional waterfall to navigate for them both. The challenges of their surroundings and the threat of danger add an enticing twist to the mix.
This book is a wonderfully written story of change, acceptance, friendship, family, and an enduring love of two souls meant to be. There is plenty of excitement, suspense, action, danger, laughter, sadness, and smoking hot romance that will sizzle off the pages. Phoenix is a well-written, engrossing story that will hold you in its grasp until the very last page.
(4.5) Plenty of action, most takes place at the WAR games. Its a different take on suspense and romance, from the usual Linear Tactical, a great read. This can be read as a stand alone and I highly recommend. Boy Riley is an extreme sport phenomena and undercover for Linear Tactical when required. Girl Riley is a nurse. They met 3 years ago at the games and have been in a long distance relationship since. Hookups when possible, skype and phone. Then girl Riley starts pulling away. Boy Riley goes undercover for Linear and heads to the WAR games after to find out what’s going on. As he try’s to decipher what is the real reason for the distance he participates in the game and his efforts are being sabotaged. I bought into the first suspect. Right there with you boy Riley. When we came to the cable issue, I knew we had the wrong suspect. I didn’t know why it was happening, but I knew who the correct suspect was. The relationship struggle had all the feels for me. I wanted to smack them both at times, cry with them both, and yelled when they started getting their shit together and then **BAM** something from a previous endeavor comes back to bite them in the tush, and I absolutely loved boy Riley in this section. I felt the highs, the lows, the thrill, the enduring love. You go boy! I really appreciated the twist in this one, bringing new blood, and shinning a light on a very real disease. Thank you for the arc Janie Crouch! I freely, willingly share this review to all, so I can tell them, GET THE BOOK! All thoughts an opinions are my own.
4.5 stars
An extreme sports celebrity and a nurse meet during a competitive sports marathon and fall in love…
Boy Riley (Phoenix) and Girl Riley (Wildfire) were two people who are obviously meant to be together. Of course, if these two made things easy, there wouldn’t be a great story to read! Unlike previous Linear Tactical books, the focus in Phoenix was all about their relationship and the suspense was a secondary thread.
I loved it!!
Wildfire had to learn to trust herself before things could really work between her and Phoenix. Phoenix had to believe Wildfire would know he trusted her to watch out for herself as well as know he’d always be there to catch her when she fell. How they get to their destination is what made the story so interesting!
I love high-octane romantic suspense, but I was a happy camper that Janie took this route with Phoenix and Wildfire! All the warm fuzzy feels with hold your breath adventure, can’t get much better than that!
I received an advance reader copy from the author and this is my honest review.
Boy Riley & Girl Riley story. Girl Riley breaks up with Boy Riley after receiving a life changing diagnosis. Boy Riley is doing everything he can to figure out the puzzle of the breakup with Girl Riley and what has her so upset. You will not want to put this book down, another great book in the Linear Tactical Series
