Did not finish. Found the first 20% too repetitive.
Pure sweet romance
A wagon train heading from St. Louis to Bethany OR. A pretty good idea for a plot, and then nothing. Deaths, sickness, accidents are part of a wagon train. But there has to be more. The villain either isn’t in the story or is one of the worst villains in history. The family conflict doesn’t exist. It’s a Hallmark movie. I like how they learn about each other over time, but that’s it. My mom would like it.
A really entertaining story. Throughly enjoyed the adventure. The development of the relationship was slow, steady, and sweet. I recommend this book.
The two main characters had great chemistry.
Enjoyed reading it
The author should fire her proof-reader. The grammar was awful.
I love the whole set! I love to read about life on the wagon trains and settling of the west. Good story line.
A well-written account of travel on the Oregon Trail with realistically drawn characters and incidents. Very enjoyable read.
Pretty good entertaining
Good book
A nice read. Old west historical romance
A JOURNEY ACROSS THE OREGON TRAIL TO NEW BEGINNINGS
I found this to be a truly enjoyable story and an adventure that takes the reader along the Oregon Trail from Missouri to Oregon and shares some of the landmarks, hardships, trials, daily encounters and friendships during this arduous journey. As in reality, not everyone who starts out on this journey will survive it, death is a part of life, and sadly, lives will be lost to illness like cholera and accidents.
An older brother, Luke Hamilton, sending his two younger sisters on ahead to be part of the wagon trail while he tries to learn more about the death of their father, leaving 18-year-old Phoebe and 12-year-old Grace entrusted in the care of his friend and trail master, Colton Wallace. Grace has the sweetness and innocents of a child. Phoebe has watched her brother leave home; her mother dies and then her father to die in a fire. Left with a lecherous uncle, she knows she must protect Grace, and if that means joining a wagon train to Oregon, then that is what she will do to keep her promise of protection.
The plot kept me captivated and the pages turning as the adventure unfolds. The dialog is entertaining with Phoebe and Colton having a battle of wills and words. Two people each holding on to promises made or dealing with past issues. The camaraderie of many of the travelers is heartwarming, but there is always a troublemaker or two, and they don’t take long to prove they are never one to offer any suggestions, only complaints.
Finding love on a wagon train to Oregon. Phoebe leaves with her younger sister after her parents passing. They were left in the care of a horrible Uncle who wasn’t an upstanding man. When her brother Luke returns he sends Phoebe and Grace on the wagon train to Oregon. The lead man of the wagon train is Colton Wallace a longtime friend of Luke’s. Love begins to bloom in the midst of the hardships on the wagon train. This is a wonderful start for this Oregon setting. Can’t wait to read more in this set.
I received a free copy from the author in exchange for a fair review.
As with most Oregon Trail romance books, the majority of the story is on the Oregon Trail! Through great loss and hardships, Indians, treacherous river crossings, and reflective moments the wagon train grows as a family! Phoebe is sent to the wagon Merry train by her older brother, Luke. Phoebe is the sole guardian of her 12-year-old sister Grace. Can two young women survive the incredibly difficult Oregon Trail without the help of a husband or brother? Will they be a burden to the wagon master? Will they be accosted by the single men on the trail? Wonderfully written, Kay does a beautiful job of describing the trail dust and sore feet as well as keeps the romance sweet and sincere. I hope you love this book as much as I did! I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!
Phoebe Hamilton starts the dangerous trip to Oregon with her younger sister, Grace dressed as a young man. It is all because of Phoebe’s Promise to protect her younger sister and she will do what she has to just to keep the promise including dressing like a boy.
Colton Wallace is the captain of the wagon train and she has to find him and give him the note from her brother to get him to agree to take her along to Oregon with his wagon train. The sparks fly as Phoebe and Colton join forces to get Grace safely to Oregon. The dialogue was great with all the sass and wit woven into the story. The love story was slow and sweet as they face life and death situations along the Oregon Trail.
I borrowed Phoebe’s Promise from the Kindle Unlimited Program.
