“Funny, charming, and utterly captivating! I devoured this sparkling read.” – New York Times bestselling author Annika MartinThe man I hate might be the first one to pluck my petals… get the point.
My excuse? I was too busy running my family’s flower shop and winning floral design competitions.
Suddenly that whole pesky virginity thing becomes a big deal when Jacob West walks back into my life. The boy I once loved. The same boy who humiliated me when he stood me up for prom.
This Jacob is no boy, though: he’s all man now—confident, charming, and so sexy my metaphorical blossoms are getting scorched. I can almost forget I’m supposed to hate him forever. Almost.
To make things worse, he’s my main competition now, since he took over his parents’ flower shop. If I give into this sizzling attraction between us, it could jeopardize everything I’ve worked so hard to achieve.
But if I’m not careful, he might not just be the first man to pluck my petals—he might also be the only man to capture my heart.

This was just too cute and funny. Funnier than other books by Iris Morland that I’ve read before. Dani could come across as a little immature, but I found it entertaining, almost like stupid humor. I already can’t wait for the next book and hope that Dani and Jacob have significant roles. It was just a fun light and fluffy read.
This is the first book in the new series The Flower Shop Sisters by this author. Now, I will admit I am a little biased as I have read both the previous series The Thornton’s and The Youngers and have absolutely loved those stories to bits. This author has such a gift of writing that it is impossible not to love the characters that she brings to life and the stories that they share. That being said of course I loved reading this book. I loved meeting Dani and Jacob in War of the Roses (the prequel) for little history on these two as they have known one another for awhile. It also gives us readers a hint as to what could be in store for them as well. This book does deliver on all accounts for Dani and Jacob, there is no doubt. As always, we get a fantastic story that brings these two characters together but not without a few instances and events to twist things up and keep you turning the pages. This book contains everything you need and love in a great book with some additional flowery puns to make things more interesting. I cannot wait to see what is in store for the rest of the sisters, looks like Mari is maybe up next?

The Petal Plucker: A Steamy Romantic Comedy by Iris Morland is a wonderful start to The Flower Shop Sisters. Dani (Dandelion) Wright has taken over her family’s flower shop and in town is the West family flower shop. Jacob West has returned to town after being very successful in NYC to help in his family flower shop after his father had a stroke. Dani has loved Jacob since grade school but he broke her heart in high school on top of that their parent hate each other. Dani and Jacob romance sizzle in The Petal Plucker and then throw in a flower arrangement competition where both Dani and Jacob want to win. I highly recommend reading this book and l am looking forward to the next book in the series.

I’ve read the Thorntons and the Youngers, and even though this book is a romantic comedy, it still has a lot of the same emotional impact of those series. Also like those, this book has such a deep sense of family connection about it. The sisters and parents, heck even Kevin the cat, have so much personality that I can’t wait to read more about them all. I didn’t see a lot of middle ground with either of our romantic leads. We usually see Jacob either behaving like a jerk or a swoon-worthy romantic hero. I guess that makes sense. Jerk behavior requires some big grovelling to make up for it. Dani is usually just a neurotic mess. She has flashes of feisty independence, but like the rest of us, the mean-girl dialog in her head gets the best of her. Their encounter scenes manage to be both sweet and hot. And the sarcasm in this book is on point. That snappy, sassy banter was one of the things I liked best about this book. The set-up for Mari’s story that this closes out on, leaves me a little desperate to get my hands on it already.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author. I absolutely hate writing negative reviews, but I thought this was a romcom, I was expecting loads of laugh out loud moments, but they never came. The sense of humor just wasn’t for me.I started and stopped reading this book several times.
SOME SPOILERS
Dandelion (Dani) is in her late 20s flowers and plants are her life. Sets the bar so high for people you would need to be a pole vaulter to pass her expectations of you. She acts like an immature teenage lovesick fool, she has apparently been in and out of true love with Jacob since the age of 5
He’s let’s her down loads of times, hence in and out of love. He’s like a closed book with his feelings, but then so is she, they are on and off like lightbulbs instead of talking and working out where they are going wrong like adults.
The two families hate each over, her parents are just as childish. Her two sisters Kate and Marigold (Mari) are more interesting.
The main character that needs a shoutout is Kevin, Kevin is a tripod, one-eyed cat, and I think he has more sense than Dani.
Conclusion: Unfortunately this book was definitely not what I was expecting.
This book is a second chance romance and a fun, romantic comedy.
The chemistry between the two main characters was easy to believe right from the start.

This is one of the cutest books I’ve read to date! Dani grew up having a huge crush on Jacob, and throughout childhood was continuously disappointed in him and his actions. When Jacob returns to town as an adult and approaches Dani, she struggles with letting the past go and dealing with the feelings she still harbors for him. The bulk of this story really is a combination of working through the past in addition to growing into adulthood and building a relationship as adults. The two also work through misunderstandings and assumptions, which also was the bulk of the problems between the two. I really liked that Dani wasn’t your typical girl in this story; she was nerdy, sometimes strange, and struggling to grow a business. It made her extremely relatable because that’s common in that age group. I was also a big fan of the Romeo and Juliet comparison because while it had its similarities it was different in many ways. I’m so excited that this is a series too; I can’t wait to hear Marigold’s story especially with the sneak peeks we got throughout and then at the end of Dani’s story.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I haven’t laughed so hard for a long time. There are some really excellent, hilarious moments in this book. That said, there is a lot of romance, some beautifully touching scenes, and overall it’s impossible not to fall in love with this story and its main characters.
This was a great start to a new series that I’m looking forward to about 3 sisters. The first book is about Dandelion (yes she’s named after a flower and runs a flower shop). Dani, her nickname, had a crush on Jacob, the son of rival flower shop owners, since he moved to town when they were little. She had been in “love” with him for years but that all changed one night.
Jacob has now moved back and as soon as Dani sees him then she immediately feels a connection even though she doesn’t trust him. They run into each other a few times and he slowly seeps back into her life a little here & there. Jacob is very hard to figure out and very standoffish. You could tell something was going on with him and I did guess what it was but I do wish we had a little more insight to him at times rather than it all being at the end. I wish Jacob would have just opened up and talked to her but when they would start to get close he would always leave. They have a great chemistry and they are definitely some laugh out loud moments in the books. I loved the epilogue and finally getting to hear from Jacob’s point of view.
I can’t wait for Marigold’s story that we get a glimpse of at the end. I received an advanced copy of the book and leaving my honest review of the book. I’ll be buying this book as well for my collection.
3.5*
I’m sitting here thinking how to rate this book. It has as much of likes as it does the dislikes. Let’s start with what bothered me; I just couldn’t for the love of me love Jacob. I mean his apologies were weak and Dani kinda just accepted them without so much of a fuss. I understood why he did (well not the first one) what he did but still…
Now to the likes: I loved the banter, the side characters (Kevin being my favorite of them all), the plot was interesting but had a lot of room to grow. The story did have a few swoon moments.
“But the price was too high. Because I never thought it would mean losing the woman I loved. Still love.”
This one being one of them… it’s always good to see someone growel a bit right?!?
And of course the ending…I have a feeling Mari’s story will be great read. After everything she sure deserves a big HEA

It was a fun and easy read. Loved both Jacob and Dani.
A fun and quirky romance with rioting emotions and a whole lot of heart with the entire cast of characters. Dani and Jacob have known each since they were five years old and Dani has loved Jacob for more than two decades. There are good memories as well as bad ones in their past. With the story told from Dani’s point of view we are not privy to Jacob’s thoughts or feelings about anything. So, it’s a bit frustrating not understanding the hot and cold behavior Jacob displays. You’re just as much in the dark as Dani. Despite all that, their friendship evolves and feelings grow big and take root until, it comes crashing down. It may be too much for love to conquer all. This romance is about family, trust and your true love having your back…always. I highly recommend this book.

Dandelion has high expectations for those around her, and she walls herself away emotionally. She is also very immature. Jacob is home to help his family and their business. He is also hiding something Dani gets glimpses of but never sees. She does grow through the story which was good because she was difficult to like in the beginning. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
This is a great start to a new series. It is funny and steamy and there are a bunch of quirky characters. The floral puns just don’t stop. Jacob and Dani (Dandelion) get a second chance at being more than friends even though their families shops are in direct competition. Of course the course of true love never runs smooth and these two have obstacles to overcome before they get their HEA.
I had to put the book down several times because I was overcome with different emotions and I needed to get a hold on myself before I kept reading. The characters felt very real and no one in this book is perfect.
Petal Plucker, is a great start to the
new series, The Flower Shop Sisters.
I enjoyed reading it! It’s a quirky,
fun, emotional & steamy story.
Dani, is running her family’s flower shop.
She’s always loved everything flowers.
Her life is quiet & boring. That changed the day, Jacob, walked into her shop.
Jacob, recently moved back to Seattle,
because of his father’s health.
Dani, was surprised to see him.
She’s still mad at him, but Jacob makes her heart beat. And now he’s here to
run his family’s flower shop,
Dani’s competition.
Did Jacob, stop by only to see his old friend, or for something more?
And can Dani ever forgive him?
The emotions, the humor & their chemistry pulled me in,& kept me hooked!!
This author won me over when I discovered her book titles were taken from classic songs. Whenever I read her books, I know I’ll get a fun, light-hearted romance with a side of steam, but Morland has bested herself phenomenally with the first book in The Flower Shop Sisters Series! Floral puns, euphemisms and innuendo aside, this book is just so much MORE. I’m a bit over the well-used virgin trope, but Morland had me eating out of her hand with Dani and Jacob’s frenemies to lovers romance with a nod to the Capulets and the Montagues.
Since he first moved to town when they were five years old, Jacob West has been off limits to Dandelion Wright. His parents had the nerve to come to town and open a florist shop in direct competition to her family’s Buds and Blooms. In spite of the warnings, they became friends in kindergarten. As years went by they weren’t always joined at the hip, but when he did the unforgivable and stood her up for prom, Dani learned an important lesson: people will always let you down. But now Jacob has returned home, and all those old feelings start sprouting back up like dandelions in spring.
This book was so fantastic to read in so many ways. An excellent start to a wonderful new series, I wanted to hang out at Buds and Blooms and try my hand at flower arranging. All of the characters are so earthy and endearing, but Dani may just be my new favorite heroine. A smart, talented, accomplished, everyday girl who doesn’t realize her own beauty, it was easy to appreciate her and be drawn into the story told from her point of view. I adore her sass, sarcasm, self-deprecation and clever sense of humor. It’s often difficult to connect with a hero when the story isn’t told from his POV, but Morland did a great job humanizing Jacob and endearing him to me. It was easy to see clear to the heart of him and I desperately wanted Jacob and Dani together. But a book would be no fun without conflict, and I enjoyed every minute as they found their way through to forever.
If you’ve never read this author, you’re really missing out, and this is the perfect book to introduce you to Morland’s work. She strikes the perfect balance with this one, following an evocative, emotional scene with a punch of humor to cement all the wonderful feelings she’s elicited in the reader and carry her through to the next emotional high. Spontaneous and sassy, heated and humorous, and touching and heart felt, this one has something to leave every romantic heart with a happy sigh but still wanting more from these amazing characters.

The Flower Shop Sisters
What a fabulous start to a new series!
Petal Plucker is a story that has it all! Funny, steamy and fantastic cast of characters!
This is the story of Dandelion (Dani) and Jacob. They have a long history together. Young unrequited love of epic proportions.
Dani is such a quirky gal, but she embraces those quirks and makes her all the more admirable. She is has issues with trusting people, but with good reason. When Jacob walks back into her life after years apart, it brings all those trust issues she has back to the surface.
Jacob, oh my me. He was the popular student, he was the golden boy. But what is the truth? After coming back home to help with the family business he sees Dani again and sparks fly.
I am always cautiously optimistic when a book is labeled “romantic comedy”. Is it really going to be funny? Is it going to make me laugh out loud? Well this book is truly a romantic comedy! It made me laugh out loud and made me fall in love with the characters! You won’t be disappointed in this!
This is the first book by Iris that I have read, but it will not be my last! I cannot wait for Marigold’s story next!
