Don’t miss the classic tale from King of Horror and #1 New York Times bestselling author Stephen King, described by Publishers Weekly as “the most frightening novel Stephen King has ever written.” When the Creeds move into a beautiful old house in rural Maine, it all seems too good to be true: physician father, beautiful wife, charming little daughter, adorable infant son—and now an idyllic home. … home. As a family, they’ve got it all…right down to the friendly cat. But the nearby woods hide a blood-chilling truth—more terrifying than death itself…and hideously more powerful. The Creeds are going to learn that sometimes dead is better.

Scary
This was chilling and tragic and intense and downright creepy. Not usually into the supernatural but I loved this one. The characters were intriguing, especially Jud. Louis is a moron. I definitely recommend it.
It Stephen King, what else is there too say. SK just means good.
Great read from page one!
The first sentence sounds so innocuous, and yet this is the novel that Stephen King himself has called his scariest. Perhaps because it centers on death and how fear of death can compel people to do the unthinkable.
I am currently rereading Stephen King books that I haven’t read in decades. I listened to IT a couple of years ago because I wanted …
Good book but very slow to start. I loved the new movie though. Better than the original
This was the first King book I ever read back when it came out. It haunts me to this day. Do yourself a favor and skip the movie. Read the book!
Spooky story of heartbreak and loss. What would you do to save a loved one?
Scariest book I have ever read. Hands down.
Stephen never lets me down! Very unnerving. Makes me wonder how Mr. King was raised.
Classic King!!!
love this book! it was so terrifying that I could not put it down, I needed more! I hated getting to the party about the baby though, that part tears me apart everytime. the book is so much more descriptive than the movie that it allows you to paint your own picture and has you on the edge of your seat. The way each character is described once …
It was really eye-opening to re-read this book so many years after reading it the first time. I didn’t realize just how much of this book came from some real events and places from Stephen King’s own family life. But then I guess it’s where most ideas are born in the first place. This isn’t just simple horror that’s meant to give you a fright, but …
Still one of King’s best, using its supernatural trope to explore how people deal with (or avoid dealing with) the inevitability of death.
It’s been years since I read this book. One of SK’a best of all time I need to revisit this one
This isn’t Stephen King’s best, but it certainly provides a satisfactory twist – and will make you give your pet the side eye when it’s acting strangely
One of Stephen King’s best stories written in his intensely gripping descriptive style. This one puts you into the head of a grieving father who does the unthinkable. You won’t be able to put it down.
loved this book, you’ll never look at a grey cat in the same way again!
T the movie was better
Reading again, since a new version of the movie is in the works. Classic King! His characters are always complex and just downright interesting.
