I love age gap and student teacher romances and this one did not disappoint! Perspective was my first read by Jenna Hartley, and I loved this introduction to the Love in LA series.
Kate Pruitt wants to step out of her comfort zone, so she signs up to model for a live drawing class at her school. Which is where she meets Alexander Kane, a professor at the school, and local artist.
Alexander Kane is struggling to find the inspiration he needs to complete the final pieces for his upcoming art exhibition. When he first lays eyes on Kate, he knows right away that he needs her to model for him, to be his muse.
Even though this was a novella, it was long enough to give me enough of the characters to where I felt like I really knew them as individuals and then together as a couple, but I could definitely use an epilogue for Kate and Xander (maybe we get a glimpse of them in Irresistible?!). I absolutely loved them! They have an instant attraction and pull towards each other, tons of sexual tension, and their relationship was quick to start. They fall fast and hard. They have a strong bond over their love for art. They were both able to build confidence in each other and swapped the student teacher role throughout the book, which was cute.
“You’re so beautiful, my angel.”
“And I wondered if he’d always look at me that way – like I was the most beautiful women he’d ever seen.”
“I want to paint together and laugh together and even cry together.”
“She was my muse, my love, my everything. And I was never letting her go.”
Excited to check out the other books in the series!

Oh this is such a great novella! I’m not always a fan of student-teacher romances, but this one definitely won me over. I love that Kate was able to help Xander rediscover his love for art – a real student teaching the teacher moment.

Perspective by Jenna Hartley
REVIEW
Paint me utterly satisfied with this sexy novella
Kate is twenty and going against her parents wishes and changing her major from premed to art— they just don’t know it yet.
Xander is a professor and an artist. After an accident his ability as a painter is almost dead until he meets Kate and finds inspiration in this young ingénue.
The story was short, vibrant, and sexy. The intensity between the couple was fresh and even in her innocence Kate’s boldness surprised me as she flipped clichés of this trope on their heads and left me impressed.

This was such a short sweet story! I wished it was longer. I loved Kate and Xander. Kate was a pre med student whose just dropped to follow her dream of art school. Xander is a professor and an artist. He has recently injured his wrist in a skiing accident and has lost his ability to create. With a big art exhibit looming meeting Kate was the spark he needed. She ignites something in him that he cannot turn away from. Their attraction and chemistry was evident from the first page and I found I couldn’t put their story down. I loved the way they challenged and inspired each other. They were the perfect match. I am looking forward to rest of the books in this series, especially Kate’s brother Hunter after the teasers dropped in this one.

It was a quick easy read. There is a bit of drama, but everything goes back to normal pretty quickly too. I felt this story was rushed. I did not feel the same level of connection that I did with the other characters. This story felt repetitive. It is my least favorite of this series.

I love all of Jenna Hartley’s books and I don’t know why I hadn’t read Perspective yet but I can just say once I started reading this book I devoured it in one sitting, I love forbidden romances and this teacher/student romance was so so good I wished the book was longer but what I liked is that this novella was pack with all the feels, amazing characters and a great story.
Xander and Kate are both struggling for different reasons. Xander needs to find his inspiration to paint again after an accident that cost him his hands flexibility to paint and Kate is hiding a secret from her family, hiding what she loves most, art. When they cross paths in an art class, their connection is instant and after Xander decides Kate is the muse he needs, he will convinced her to work with him but what he doesn’t expect is that Kate will be become so much more than his muse.
I think this novella was fantastic, really this whole series is. I love how in every single book Jenna empowers women, and Kate when against family expectations and stood up for what she loved and made her happy.

This was my first book (novella) by the author and I really enjoyed it. It was also my first student/teacher, age-gap romance. u2063

Meeting when she posed nude for an art class, Kate and Xander’s attraction was instant. Their story was sweet, slightly steamy, and had a great backstory. I loved that roles reversed for both of them with Kate becoming somewhat of a teacher/muse for Xander. I would have loved a full-length story for these two! Looking forward to reading the rest of the series!u2063

Kate is trying to be carefree and bold so she signs up to be a model in a live art class. Xander is instantly captivated by her and decides he wants to use her for his inspiration for his art.
This was a great short novella! Loads of sexual tension! I loved the author’s writing and thought the story line was pretty unique even with it including some popular tropes. I would’ve loved this story to have been a bit longer so we could get a more in depth look at Kate and Xander’s relationship. I devoured up every page and I want more!

Xander and Kate belong to the art world, even with a very different background. Older and already recognized as an incredible artist, Xander is well relished and supported by his family even though it doesnt help when he is suffering on a huge block fase. Kate is young and inexperienced. She comes from a family with big expectations for her that drives her to live in lie while pursuing art school. Xander meets Kate when he is sub of her professor and she is posing for a nude drawing class, for the first time. Athough there´s too many no gos for them to be together, their attraction is impossible to deny. In their relationship it is Kate who drives Xander to unblock his inspiration and even take it to another level. But they will need to overcome all those differences and more to make it work…

What’s this book about? (I’m trying to give as little spoilers as possible)
This is a novella in the Love in LA series. It’s #0.5. Xander is at his wits’ end. Something’s ought to change. He meets Kate by accident or design; pick your poison. She has a different outlook on life and art than her professor Xander Kline. Perspectives start to change as these two get to know each other.
This is my second Jenna Hartley read. I read it after reading book #2 in the Love In LA series. And then I realized, hey, the timelines are somehow intertwined, you should’ve started with 0.5 instead of book 2 LOL. It was still lovely though – it took me a little to get used to the time frame of events, but it was manageable. THIS WAS AN ENTICING READ. I, the EVIL WITCH SUPREME, despise teacher/student or professor/student books. I turned a blind eye to Jamie in Defy by LJ Shen. Up until now, I had no other story to turn a blind eye to. PERSPECTIVE changed my perspective! I LOVED THIS READ! Xander was gorgeous with all of his artsy flaws. Kate was adorable and daring. Their dynamic was magnificent. Artists are my people; I get them. I empathized with these two. I understood why Kate behaved the way she behaved. The age gap between these two characters was only a social construct; Kate didn’t seem like a young and naïve girl that she could’ve been. It takes a lot of organization to pull off what she pulls off in this story HAHAHAHAHAH.
Alexander Kline was a SASSY MF. When he introduced himself to Hunter (BOY, HE WAS A JOY IN THIS STORY. I LOVE MYSELF A VIKING BRO), I was like SLAY, MAN!
I enjoyed this story, but I give only 4,5 stars because I WANTED MORE! I feel like this deserved an entire book. I recommend this read to readers that love art-related stories, age gaps, alluring professor/student romances, pained professors and struggling students.

Kate has decided that she doesn’t want to follow her parent’s dream for her. She wants to follow her own dream which means dropping out of med school and enrolling in art school. Only she doesn’t tell anyone in her family. In immersing herself into art school she signs up to be a nude model only to put herself into the sites of a famous artist – Alexander Kline aka Xander who is in need of a muse and it is quiet awkward that his new muse just so happens to be a student at the college that he teaches at.
This was a fun and cute book but I didn’t really feel much between the characters. It is a novella so there isn’t much room to dive deep but I didn’t really feel a connection. I felt like there was a lot to both characters that they both deserved the deep dive that we didn’t get. For a novella this was a fun slow burn and my first but this author. I love me a forbidden story and the premise to this story was right up my alley but it just didn’t hit all the marks for me. I still enjoyed it but it didn’t sing to me. I am excited to read the other books by this author.
