I loved this retelling of this story and really enjoyed it.
Persephone (Underwold Saga #0) was a good read by Eva Pohler. Hades makes a deal with the Fates to end his loneliness that causes unrest among the gods. Persephone proposes to conspire with him against Demeter. This book shows how Hades and Persephone met and fell in love. I enjoyed this book and cant wait to read more by the author.
Found it difficult to read and follow. The plot was constantly jumping from one crisis to another with no real end game. I read the series that this book was a prequel for and loved those, but I was disappointed in this book.
This was an interesting take on Hades and the Underworld; the main characters are more relatable then expected considering most of them are Greek Gods! If you enjoy reading about the Greek Gods you will definitely enjoy this story as told from Hades point of view.
I love greek mythology and this book is great!! Its definately different!! I will read the rest of this series!!
It’s a rather entertaining story. I’ve read it twice. The characters are pretty good and the twists are interesting.
The characters are not very well developed, with little emotional depth. There are also so many other myths thrown in, that it dilutes the main plot. There is just too much going on unnecessarily. The romantic plot is also a little contrived. Had the characters actually talked to each other, everything would have been solved in 2 minutes.
Maybe I was looking for too much. Seemed to be written at middle school level.
Awesome brings mythology to a whole new level with teenage love and drama, keeps you rooting for love!
I couldn’t really get started.
An interesting telling of Greek and Roman mythology tales in a twisted way. Makes Hades more sympathetic than the original telling of the theft of Persephone. At least different than the one I had to translate in Latin many decades ago.
Absolutely loved it. As a fan of Greek mythology it was interesting to show a more sympathetic view of Hades.
The author clearly did a lot of research on Greek Mythology. While I liked the two main characters, I frequently got frustrated and ultimately bored by their lack of communication with each other – it seemed more a device to create/continue conflict, rather than anything else. Most of the rest of the gods and goddesses were as mean-spirited, petty and callous as their legends which, I suppose, made it more “realistic”. Unfortunately, that “realism” did nothing to interest me, and ultimately soured me on the entire book.
A great narrative take on the legends of Hades and Persephone. The story stayed fairly true to legend and accepted myth.
It’s been awhile since I visited the world of the Gatekeeper as written by Eva Pohler. I loved this story about Hades and Persephone. It is well written and exciting. There is lots of action and the storyline moves along gracefully. This can be read as the first book, or at any point during reading the Gatekeeper’s series she has written. Eva is very creative and her love of Greek Mythology is evident.
