AN ALL-NEW STANDALONE FROM NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR JULIA KENTOne hundred years ago when I was young and impulsive (okay, it was five, alright? Five years ago…) I let my boyfriend take, let’s just say…compromising pictures of me.(Shut up. It made sense at the time).Surprise! The sleazy back-stabbing jerk posted them on a website and, well, you can guess what happened. That’s right.I’m … happened. That’s right.
I’m a meme. A really gross one.
You’re seen the pictures. And if you haven’t – don’t ask. And don’t look!
As face recognition software online improves, I get tagged on social media whenever anyone shares my pictures. You try getting a thousand notifications a day, all of them pictures of your tatas.
So. I’m done.
It’s time for revenge. Let him see how it feels! But how do you get embarrassingly intimate pictures of your jerkface ex who double-crossed you five years ago?
Especially when he’s a member of the U.S.House of Representatives now?
Getting sweet between the sheets with a congressman is pretty much every political roadie’s dream, right? I’m one in a crowd.
Except to this day, he swears he didn’t do it. Pursued me for months after I dumped him five years ago. Begged me to take him back.
And I almost did it. Almost. I was weak and stupid and in love a hundred years ago.
Okay. Fine. Five.
But I still have the upper hand. Second chance romance has all the emotional feels, doesn’t it?
I can’t wait to punch him in the feels.
All I need to do is sleep with him once, take some hot-and-sweaty pics of him in… delicate positions, and bring him down. That’s it. Nothing more.
Pictures first. Revenge after. And then I win.
At least, that’s how it was supposed to happen. But then I did something worse than sexting.
I fell in love with him. Again.

This was hilarious!
I think this was by far my favorite book of the series.
Perky was great. Seeing her interactions with others made me laugh. The story was good.
Everything was just great.
Five years ago, Persephone (aka Perky) had her heart broken when a naked photo of hers turned up on the internet as a meme. Thinking that her then-boyfriend Parker did it, she left without giving him a chance to explain.
Now he shows up on Mallory and Will’s rehearsal rehearsal dinner. Turns out he’s one of Will’s college friends! And he’s a Congressman now! And he tells her he’s still very much in love with her! She still loves him too, but will she be able to overlook their past so they can move on together in the future?
I love how this one picks up right where the first book ended. It’s not as funny as Fluffy, but it’s still an entertaining read.
Perky is a slow-burn, second chance contemporary romantic comedy. It’s a standalone that ends with a HEA. No cliffhanger, no cheating.
This was the second book in Julia’s Do-Over series. They both can be read as stand-alones, but I would highly recommend reading Fluffy, it was amazing!!
Persephone had a boyfriend that supposedly shared a compromising photo of her. She had spent the last 5 years trying to get a handle on the meme it had become. She absolutely hated him…until he walked back into her life.
Parker had always claimed innocence. He didn’t understand why she wouldn’t believe him. Once he saw her again, he wasn’t letting go this time.
Could Parker and Persephone come to an agreement or would she finally get her revenge?
What a fun, laugh out loud, second chance romance! It was fun to watch them together and figure out exactly what happened that horrible day! Get ready for book 3!!
Perky is book 2 in the Do Over Series and another fun read. These books will have you laughing out loud. In addition to the fun these girls stories bring you some pretty deep thoughts and feelings. I loved Parker and really wanted to believe him but could totally understand why Perky didn’t trust him. Love how no matter what happens Mallory and Fiona are there to support Perky and her decisions. This is just the 2nd book by Julia Kent I have read but definitely will be adding more of her work to my to be read list. Can’t wait for Fiesty!
AUDIOBOOK REVIEW
My Ribs Hurt.
I laughed out loud with this story so much. It is amazing. Last year I listened to Fluffy and loved it. One of my top listens and I’ve recommended it quite a few times. When I got the opportunity to listen to Perky I jumped at the chance.
While I wanted to smack some sense into her, I understood where she was coming from.
I loved this book and can’t wait for Feisty!
What an ending and look into what’s to come!

The gang is back in “Perky”, and as Mallory and Will begin their nuptial planning, Persephone (Perky) takes center stage as she quickly finds herself in a conundrum… face to face with Parker, the man that ruined her life by meme. I really love this trio of friends with their witty, sassy remarks and laugh-out-loud embarrassing moments. But unlike the first two books, “Perky” delivers the drama with a little less laugh and a bit more seriousness as a second chance for love looms by questioning what is believed to be true and discovering not everything is as it seems. I look forward to the next book and how the rest of the adventure unfolds for this hilarious bunch, and uncovering just how badass “feisty” Fiona really is!
Listened to on audio: If there were anyone I’d want to narrator my life story, it would be Erin Mallon. Her performance is phenomenal throughout this series, enhancing the wit, sass and humor of these characters and scenes, making it such a fabulously funny and enjoyable listening experience.

Perky is the second book in the series following Fluffy and was just as hilarious as the previous book. This story was introduced in the first book and we continue with the storyline in this novel.
Perky and Parker had intense chemistry from the start but the fact that Parker supposedly betrayed and humiliated Perky 5 years ago was difficult for her to forgive. These characters back and forth banter had me amused and the addition of the secondary characters greatly added to the story. The novel included enemies to lovers, second chance and romantic comedy tropes in one story. My only issue was that the story was too slow at times and seemed too focused on the incident that happened 5 years ago. However I enjoyed it as it did have me laughing out loud many times and would highly recommend it to all romance lovers.
This audiobook was narrated by Erin Mallon who again did a excellent job with the characters and bringing the story to life. She infused the appropriate emotion into the story and gave each character their own personality. I loved listening to her narrate this novel.
When the one person Persephone trusts more than anyone betrays her, she loses herself and her faith in others. So when Parker barges back into Persephone “Perky” life again, she doesn’t know what to do. The man she has hated for five years but loved at the same time, throws her life into another tailspin. I love, love, love this book. I can’t wait for Feisty next to find out what happens with this group of people. I love all these characters, even the ones that I love to hate. Amazing series!!!
I received a review copy before release for an honest review.
This is book 2 in a series and the 1st book I have ever read by this author. There is a 3rd book coming out in January 2020 and so I wanted to read this story so I could catch up on the series. This book is about Persephone aka Perky and it is told 100% in her voice.
Perky has been single for 5 years after an awful break up with her then live in boyfriend of months when a pic of her and her naked boobs were published on the internet. She has blamed her ex, Parker who after she dumped him went to be a Congresssman.
Now 5 years later her bestfriend Mallery is getting hitched and she sees Parker at a pre-rehearsal dinner for the first time in 5 years. And so starts the hijinks in this story.
As a first time reader the story was easy to follow and I really enjoyed it. But I wanted to hear Parker’s side and we only get Perky’s. I also found some of the names of characters, not the nicknames but their real names kinda strange. And a strange name here or there is expected but it was many different characters. And my last complaint was that Mal, Perky and Fionas antics sometimes got WAY too much for me and I skimmed those pages. They were not important to the plot but maybe was intended for humor or to show how quirky I don’t know but they were easy to skim and get to the scenes that featured Parker and Perky.
The scenes with Parker and Perky I absolutely adored but I would love to have gotten to see them together more than rather just a very short epilogue. I did enjoy the story and P and P and am excited to read about Fiona and Fletch.
Another brilliant rom-com from Julia Kent, these characters are contagious, I laughed so many times, a mood up-lifter for sure.
Quirky characters, three women who each in their own way are oddballs. I read fluffy, loved it and this is the second book in the series featuring Mallory’s best friend Perky in a second chance romance with Parker.
Perky is full of laugh out loud moments, hot moments, embarrassing moments, witty characters sisterhood and second chances.
A recommended light uplifting read that is guaranteed to make you fall in love with these characters and bring a smile to your face.
Looking forward to more and Fiona’s story.
PERKY Can be read as a standalone but I also recommend that you read Fluffy first.
Told in first persons pov and leads to a hea.
Hilarious addition to the series! I loved Perky. The banter and the unique names had me rolling. I enjoyed watching them work through the misunderstandings of the past and find their way forward. Full of passion, comedy, love, and a bit of mystery! Looking forward to more from this series!
A second chance enemies to lovers romance to make you howl! Perky continues Kent’s rom coms with yet another novel that is deliciously entertaining, hilarious and seductive!

This is a 2nd chance, stand alone romance. Persephone(Perky) and Parker have a past, once in love until a naughty(naked) picture of her boobs turned up on the internet after they had sex, making her famous for the meme of her chest. She blamed him for leaking the picture, he denied he did it over and over.
Five years later she she him at her best friend’s pre wedding dinner and it’s a love/hate situation, that leads to kissing and more….but then comes the after, anger/guilt and many inner thought questions. this book like all of Julia Kent’s, has humor, romance, emotional twists and even some surprises. Read Fluffy 1st.
I loved the previous books in this series and couldn’t wait to read Perky’s story. I adore Julia’s humorous writing style and quirky characters. Perky was hands down my favorite character of the series with her smart mouth, unapologetic crassness and her witty personality.
Unfortunately, something about this book just felt off to me. It was extremely slow paced and seemed to center around one particular incident that happened 5 years ago. Revisiting this transgression happened just about every other page for the duration of the book. I wanted to violently shake some sense into Perky and demand she get the answers she deserved instead of somehow letting Parker skate the truth for YEARS!!!
I liked Parker’s character and his feelings for Perky were genuine and honest. I did not however like that he wasn’t able to come up with one coherent sentence to explain how he was not guilty for wronging Perky in the past. Every single time she confronted him, he evaded the topic or put the blame back on her. I hated that about the story.
Parts of the book were extremely detailed and “in the weeds” about random topics that didn’t really serve a purpose for the the good of the story but I chalked it up to more quirky behavior necessary for the 3 musketeers that are Mallory, Fiona and Perky.
Overall I liked the book. It was funny, it was sexy, it has steam and it had sweet. I didn’t care for the drawn out story line but felt like the ending was a perfect wrap up. I also can’t wait for Feisty’s turn in the spotlight!
Read the first 2 books. Loved them! Can’t wait for the 3rd one to come out! Thank you.
DNF. Couldn’t get into this one.
I enjoyed the twisted path the main characters had to travel to get to happily ever after.
Julia Kent writes books for easy reading and laughter. Persephone and Parker have a long and convoluted history, through in a crazy mother and ex girlfriend to increase the angst and you have this story.
Just YES!
/5!!
I loved Perky!
I’m so crazy about this series! I can’t wait for Fiesty Fiona’s story!!! This series is everything!
These girls would be my real life girl posse if they were… not fictional!
Julia Kent is my new must-read-everything author!
Perky made me laugh out loud so many times!
If you haven’t started this awesome series yet, you really really should. It’s so good!
I love a good enemies to lovers romance and what made this story even better is Julia’s slapstick comedy and witty dialog. Cant wait for the third book, Feisty!
