WHOA! This book was all-consuming and completely blew my mind! It was smoking hot, sexy, intriguing and NOTHING I saw coming. I enjoyed the twists that J.T. gave us, that I didn’t know I needed. She completely wowed me and I couldn’t read this book fast enough. I LOVED the chemistry between Olivia and James. They were intense, real and things quickly got hot and heavy. I was very quickly drawn into their Paris bubble and I didn’t want to leave them and go back to the real world. My heart hurt for Olivia and I wanted her (and me) to know more about James. I wanted to soak him in and find out what made him tick. All I can say is, GET READY. You think you know, but you have no idea. Hours after reading this book, it still has its hooks in me and I CAN’T. STOP. THINKING. ABOUT. IT. There you have it! This review told you nothing except, GO READ IT!
I don’t really know how to write a review for this book, but I might as well try.
WHAT DID I JUST READ? The author has blown my mind away with the plot twists that kind of felt like they were thrown in my face out of nowhere, I mean, at one point I had to go back and re-read previous scenes like ten times just to make sure I didn’t miss anything, but also, to try to figure out how, when and where the clues of the curveball appeared.
Olivia and James made me feel so many things. The intensity of their connection and passion took my breath away. The chemistry is undeniable. It quickly turns into flames. They took me on a wild ride. An emotional rollercoaster filled with pain, heartbreak, suspense, intrigue, among another things. My heart was acting out like it was on a speed race, going for the win, the entire time it took me to finish this incredible story.
Mind blowing and full of emotion.
With Perfect Strangers J.T. Geissinger has created a unique story and characters that are not your typical romance.
It truly is best going into this book without knowing much about the plot and characters to really experience the twists and storytelling devices used.
I definitely found myself surprised a number of times, and I think the author’s writing style drew me in as usual. However, this one didn’t quite hit all the right notes for me. While I think it was well done and I like that the author took a chance on a different kind of story, this one just wasn’t my cup of tea.
Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.
I’m honestly not sure how to review this book without giving away the whole plot….just know that it is a journey of epic proportions! I couldn’t put the book down once I started it! It has a little bit of everything: romance, suspense, twists & turns! This was a seriously amazing book!!!
Brilliant and Phenomenal!
Perfect Strangers is a brilliantly written love story with an amazing and unexpected plot line. The author knew just how to keep us fully enthralled and highly entertained. Her words are so well written – and the plot – utterly intense and highly enjoyable. The story was one hell of an emotional rollercoaster ride. My emotions were so up and down throughout. I laughed, I cried, I threw my kindle! The characters are unique, relatable and so lovable. There are so many laugh out loud moments in this story that made it all so entertaining. And the intense steamy parts are definitely panty melting and very explosive!
Favorite quotes:
“Whatever bad thing happened to you, it hasn’t made you less beautiful. There’s beauty in darkness, too. It just takes a different kind of vision to see it.”
“Life’s too short to mince words. Our existence is measured in minutes. Seconds. Heartbeats. Time is the most valuable commodity we have, because it can never be replenished. Once it’s gone…it’s gone forever. And so are we.”
Such beautiful words!
There are just so many amazing moments in this story but to talk about them would give the twisted storyline away. Everything about this book was so very enjoyable. I absolutely loved it and can’t wait for more amazing stories from this author. Highly recommend.
Simply WOW!!!
This book is not your run of the mill romance novel. Simply put it is a fantastic read that will blow your mind. I really don’t want to say to much for fear of spoilers which would ruin the story. But grab yourself a copy and read it today, you won’t be sorry.
This is the best JT Geissinger book to date, and that is saying something.
After reading the author’s warnings, I was unsure about starting the book. But I Am SO GLAD I read this book. It ranks as one of my favourite books of all times.
The book started exactly as the blurb describes, Olivia is in Paris trying to overcome her writer’s block and James lives in the same building as she does. They are drawn to each other like magnets, unable to stay away.
And thus begins their affair, although it is too tame a word for their relationship. The first half of the book followed the progress of their increasingly passionate and heartfelt interactions, but the second half blew me away.
JT threw curveballs after curveballs and I just went with the flow. Each turn of the event was better (or worse) than the previous one and the ending kept me awake the whole night. I cannot say anything more without spoilers, but trust me when I say that this book is best enjoyed without knowing anything in advance. But you definitely do not want to miss this book. Pick it up and you will not regret it.
I am going to end this review with a Hemingway quote that will give you the chills after reading Perfect Strangers.
“There exists a field, beyond all notions of right and wrong. I will meet you there.”
6 Hearts
Perfect Strangers is J.T Geissinger’s newest standalone romance. I didn’t even have to read the synopsis to know that I had to have it. That cover!! Also, the fact that I love her books. I really, really don’t want to spoil anything so this will be short and sweet. Unlike the book. Except, it did make me swoon.
Olivia is an author. James is an artist. Two strangers in Paris who find themselves in the same café. The moment their eyes meet they feel a spark. A spark that neither of them have felt in a long time. If ever. And this starts an epic summer fling. A summer fling that was suppose to be just that. A fling until…it wasn’t. An undeniable connection. What will happen when it’s September?
That’s it. That all I can say about that. I will say that I was addicted. I didn’t want to put this book down. It’s definitely my favorite book written by J.T and one of my favorites of the year! Damn. It made me swoon, get all kinds of hot and bothered, cry, and laugh.
Overall…I fell in love with the characters. The scenery. The story. Everything about this book was epic. It’s a book I will never forget.
Quotes:
“You’re adorable. Three months won’t be long enough.”
“Sorry, big guy. You already marked it on your calendar.”
“You said you didn’t want to jump right into bed with me, and I’m respecting that.”
My eyes widen in horror. “Nooo, I didn’t say that. Whoever said that was a stupid, stupid person.”
“I love the way you look at me,” I whisper as he gazes, mesmerized, at his hand cupping my breast. Any self-consciousness I might have had about my body has evaporated by the awed way his eyes drink me in.
He lifts his gaze to mine. The intensity of emotion reflected in his eyes is stunning. For one heart-stopping moment, I can’t breathe.
“And I love to look at you, beautiful Olivia,” he whispers back, his voice hoarse. “It’s a privilege I don’t deserve, but one I’m so grateful for.”
Wow! What a mind blowing read! J.T. has done it again. She gives you all the feels; ups and downs; hot, mind blowing sex scenes; twists and turns you will never expect; and yes, finally a happy ever after for those that crave their HEAs. You will love this story and will find yourself wanting to stay up reading into the wee hours so you can find out what happens next.
There are no words to fully express all the emotions and feels that run wild in this book. You must read this book, for God’s sake.. run, don’t walk….
Well……….*mind blown* pretty much sums up how I feel overall about Perfect Strangers. The storyline was such a wonderful surprise. Just when I thought I had a grip on what was going on with the characters, the storyline would change direction, and it did so on more than one occasion. So clever how it all tied together in the end, even the epilogue was completely unexpected.
I’ll start with what I did know going into this – Olivia and James, their all consuming passion that quickly becomes more for both of them. There were a few pieces of information about James that come to light early on in the story which made me think I was having an “AHA” moment, and that I could sense what was coming. Geez – I was so wrong, my AHA moment was way off. WAY OFF. And that is why I loved Perfect Strangers so much, the surprises just kept on coming all the way through.
I am completely blown away by this new book by J.T Geissinger. I don’t even know where to start. Then again I kind of don’t want to say anything because ruining it would be a sin and I could not stand to ruin it for anyone.
I will just give a quick summary and tell you that I could not put it down. It was sad, sexy, hot, mind-blowing, devastating, sad, satisfying, heartbreaking and just everything under the sun. I’m in awe.
Olivia finds herself in her agents apartment in France, trying to write and put an intense grief behind her. Or atleast live with it. Her ex husband has moved on and left her alone with her devastastation and misery, until this stunning specimen of a man shakes her life up and has her wishing for things she does not feel capable of giving. So, rules firmly in place, an impersonal short term relationship is the way to go. Hmm, ok, she did not really think that was going to be possible did she? Life is never that cut and dry, and sex always leads to emotions. And this story is as full of emotions as it is curveballs and I hope everyone finds something to love about.
My mind blown and my emotions all over the place, I am going to finish this little summary and go put myself back together again, but not be for saying thank you to the author for this epic five star love story! Well done!
This is one of the most remarkable books I’ve read but it should be no surprise because this author always steps outside the box. I can’t really put this into any specific “genre” without spoiling it and I definitely don’t want to do that because it needs to be read with no preconceived notions! The chemistry between these characters is phenomenal! The emotions it evoked in me — happiness, sadness, shock, love, hate — the twists, the turns — words fail me so I would just suggest reading this book! This read as well as these characters will stay with me for years to come. An incredible 5+ star read!
Of the thousands upon thousands of books I’ve read during the course of my life, this is the first time ever I have said WT* literally out loud not once not twice but several times throughout.
Just when you get comfy and you are adoring the characters and the heat is off the charts, the author throws in a heckuva twist. Wowza! Then there’s another twist and you are bawling your eyes out wondering what in the world you signed up for and then Wham! She hits you again.
Well played Ms. Geissinger. Well played!
Well here is yet another amazing book by JT. The characters are so well developed you can’t help but get drawn in to the plot. Olivia is a writer trying to get past her writers block by spending some time at her friends apartment in Paris. Recently divorced, Olivia has suffered a tragic loss and is trying to overcome her deep pain. She meets James while in Paris. He sees her pain and is drawn to her.
This is not your average love story. The characters are so well written, you actually intensely feel every single emotion: joy, pain, sorrow, lust, you name it. So many good highlights to mention but suffice it to say, you need to read this and any other books by JT you can get your hands on. She is by far one of the best writers I have ever read.
The first words that come to mind is wow what a mind-blowing ride! This story is filled with suspense, espionage, murder and romance what more could you want? The chemistry and emotions were so real. I was so drawn in by the story that I could not control my emotions. I felt pain, betrayal and love every step of the way with Olivia. It’s not just your typical strait-laced love story there were so many surprises, twist and turns along the way that I was wrecked most of the time and had to recover before I could move on. I must say that the first few chapters gave me the feeling that I was not going to like this book. Those feels were erased quickly and I realized that I was at the runway of an airport bucking up to soar to places I was not expecting to go. I promise you won’t be disappointed in the book
4.5 Scorching Stars!
Wow, I can’t even begin to tell you how stunned I am after reading this suspenseful and steamy romance. I was so invested in Olivia, and how she was trying to find a way out of the grief that haunted her. James, who is an artist, but so much more, pulled her from her despair, and opened up a new, beautiful, and passionate world to her. They were so intrinsically connected from the start, and their chemistry was explosive. The secondary characters were also very intriguing and added to the wild twists and turns this story took. JT Geissinger expertly weaved a tale that drew you in, made you feel all the extreme emotions, and kept you guessing what was happening and who you could trust. I was totally consumed by this scorching and addictive romance!
OMG! This book will have you racing to the end! It has so many twists and turns! I absolutely loved James! And flames will combust your kindle with the bookstore scene! Olivia is such a great character! Grab this book and go in blind—you will be so glad you did! 5 amazeball stars
It’s not often that I finish a book with a book hangover but I definitely have one with Perfect Strangers. I am still not really sure what happened and what I read! I will definitely do a re-read. One minute it is a incredibly sexy scorching hot enough to melt my kindle story of two people who meet by chance in Paris the next it is a lot more, and a lot more and even more.
Olivia is a writer who is trying to let go of her past by spending the summer in Paris. James is the incredibly gorgeous but mysterious artist that she meets in a cafe then later at a soiree in her building.
They are immediately attracted to each other and embark upon a passionate love affair which they both will enjoy until she leaves Paris in September. All is beautiful and romantic until Olivia asks her friend’s husband to do a background check on James and she learns his secret. At that point the story is turned on it’s head and it is impossible know which way is up. We are given so many layers to unravel that it is hard to know which one is the truth.
You just have to keep on reading and when just when you think you have a handle on things everything is turned upside down again. This is such a fast paced constantly changing story that it leaves you breathless, and I was still left wondering especially after reading the last paragraph.
It is impossible to say more about this book because the twists and turns cannot be revealed, you just have to read it for yourself. It is absolutely a brilliant book and worth way more than five stars.
For me this is the best book that Ms Geissinger has written since my all time favourite Midnight Valentine. The depth of her imagination and her storytelling skills just blows me away as always and proves she is one of the best writers in this genre. I am sure Perfect Strangers will be rated one of – if not THE best book of the year.
JT Geissinger has the ability to put themes into her writing in a way that would normally make the uncomfortable reader wants to know more about some subject, almost like a voyeur looking through the keyhole. That’s exactly why I started reading this book with a welcome anxiety.
It’s a frustration when I realized that this time my connection to the characters was zero.
The story begins as if in the middle. I felt in the middle of a shooting without even knowing how/why.
Over the course of the chapters, I began to understand what was going on.
A writer who is going through a difficult time in her life (but the reason we only find out much later), so she left NY and went to Paris for three months.
There she comes across:
1) with a couple of exhibitionist neighbors, who loved to fuck with the window open. Not to mention the many sounds they made;
2) a handsome man who approaches her and asks to draw her.
Shortly thereafter, she discovers that he was indeed an artist – and very talented – and she allows him to draw her.
In fact, that was the password to say they’d be lovers throughout her time in town.
Both had secrets deep within.
And flirting that should have no connections becomes torrid and inseparable.
And that’s where the… woes begin (???)
If on the one hand the book has this plot twist, on the other I saw myself in the middle of a shooting. Again.
At the end of the book there is an explanation from the author of plot change throughout the writing, and I believe my uneasiness came from there, even though I didn’t know why on that time.
The book is divided in three parts.
The end of the story is interesting, but like I said, without having that wonderful connection with the characters, I watched it all as a “noir” movie whose subtitles I didn’t want to read.
Even then I think the book deserves 4 stars
