Super short but good.
Ellie hops on a plane to Ireland after another bouquet of yellow tulips. Her ex Matthew is fixated on her. Like court and trial.
With no plans, she ends up staying with Ainsley, a pub owner and gentleman. Who’s pretty fine.
Will she get a fresh start with Ainsley?

This is the 1st book I’ve read written by May Freighter; she has done a great job at writing a good short story; I will definitely be reading more of her books.

Her ex-boyfriend is obsessed with her and a bit of a stocker on top of that where she is concerned. She goes away to Ireland just to get away and meets a man who is her equal in every way. She goes back home and finds out her ex is after this other man and must save him. It is exciting, emotional and has danger, intrigue and much more. I really liked it. Edge of your seat read in spots. I received a review copy from booksprout and voluntarily review it.

Elli had broken up with her ex, Mathew, but he didn’t know how to let go! She got yet another bouquet of yellow tulips and she had enough of this. Without a second thought and only the clothes on her back, she headed for the airport and the first flight out of England to anywhere else. Anywhere turned out to be Ireland, and she took a taxi from the Dublin Airport in an hour-long random direction, ending up in a pub. It might have been nice to be even further away, but at least, there was a sea between her and her stalker, which gave her some comfort. Now she had to find a place to stay!
Elli approached the bartender to see if there might be a B&B nearby. He introduced himself as Ainsley O’Reilly, owner of the bar. He told her he had a spare room upstairs if she wanted to stay there. The room was pleasant and she drifted off to sleep immediately. The next morning, he knocked on her door and invited her to join him for breakfast. He wouldn’t charge her for the room or food. He just wanted to be kind to someone who seemed like they needed a little help. He took her for a tour of the small town, which she described in one word: peaceful! He took her hand and led her through the fields. She wanted to know where they were going, and he laughed that she was so curious. But when she said she didn’t want to be killed by a hot serial killer, he stopped dead in his tracks and she bumped into him. She thought she offended him until he said, “You think I’m hot??” Her face turned crimson.
Her last night there, Elli wanted to be with Ainsley. She hated to return to London, but she had to be at work. So she quietly left the next morning without saying goodbye. When she finally turned on her phone, she saw a message from Mathew that he would be taking care of that trash she left behind and would be ready to see her again. She called the police and headed back on the hour-long trip to the pub, terrified of what Mathew would do. The police had Mathew in custody; Ainsley had incapacitated him. He then asked Elli why she left like that. He didn’t do one-night stands and wanted to keep seeing her. He visited her as often as possible and then asked her to marry him! Would she accept his proposal – a ring on top of the whipped cream on her pancakes? Where would they live?
This was a beautiful story about shedding a toxic relationship with the help of a loving, kind man. It’s never too late to start over when the right person comes along. You will love the characters, the setting, and the story line. The author’s writing is excellent. You won’t want to miss this one!
