Just as readers have been transfixed by the stories, characters, and deeper meanings of Lewis’s timeless tales in The Chronicles of Narnia, most find this same allure in his classic Space Trilogy. In these fantasy stories for adults, we encounter, once again, magical creatures, a world of wonders, epic battles, and revelations of transcendent truths.Perelandra, the second novel in Lewis’s science … truths.
Perelandra, the second novel in Lewis’s science fiction trilogy, tells of Dr. Ransom’s voyage to the paradise planet of Perelandra, or Venus, which turns out to be a beautiful Eden-like world. He is horrified to find that his old enemy, Dr. Weston, has also arrived and is putting him in grave peril once more. As the mad Weston’s body is taken over by the forces of evil, Ransom engages in a desperate struggle to save the innocence of Perelandra!

This one is in my top three of all time, and my favorite of the Ransom Trilogy (aka The Space Trilogy). Deep, mysterious, inspiring, and wonderous; Ransom’s adventure on Perelandra has world-changing consequences. There is so much at stake, and the way the story plays out is so engaging. This book has some very real and demonstrable influences …
I love just about anything Mr. Lewis wrote. This is part of his sci-fi trilogy. It will not disappoint you.
One of my favorite books of all time! I don’t know how many times I’ve read and re-read this, but I love it just as much each time!
Lewis wouldn’t be able to get away with the very long paragraphs in this day and age, but apart from that and some big words we don’t use anymore, it’s perfect.
The setting, of course, is what makes it a fantasy …
C.S. Lewis is famous for a reason. (He was a fantastic author!) This book, and the other two in the series don’t get the credit they ought to. Something I found the most intriguing about this book was how C.S. Lewis had so many accuracies about space, before mankind had ever been there!
Great book, highly recommended.
I’ve read all of Lewis’s space trilogy and found it to be quite intriguing and thought-provoking. It was really fun to read!
A classic.
Fascinating
Though a bit dated as far as technology is concerned the philosophical process is well worth the time.
Not as action oriented and engaging as Out of the Silent Planet, but poses challenging spiritual questions about temptation and resistance.
Classic CS Lewis. Don’t bother reading unless you want to dive deeper and ponder the wonder of a created universe
