Tired of your traditional Christmas stories? Then try with werewolf-laden Krampus tale with a sassy little princess for funsies! So cute!
I just found this author and adore her! I love the heroine Clemeny too. This was an awesome short story, I can’t wait to read more of The Red Cape Society stories.
Yay to Agent Hunter and Clem!! This time Clem is hunting something other than Werewolves. It’s Christmas time and something is taking children. Clem is asked from Her Majesty to investigate. She needs Agent Hunter’s help. Another great book in the Red Riding Hood series. I can’t wait for book 4.
I know that it is only June but this was such a fun Christmas story it got me in the holiday spirit a little early. This is book three in the Steampunk Red Riding Hood Series and can be read as a standalone. I would highly encourage any reader to read books one and two first, but that is just because they are so great and the reader would get a better understanding for both the characters and the continuing plot.
In this story we meet Clemency and Agent Hunter again. Together they are tasked with tracking down missing children. Right before Christmas children are going missing and it is not Clem’s typical werewolves. When the Queen asks for help there is nothing to do but get her answers and that is exactly what Clem and Hunter do. Not only to they save the children, have they also saved Christmas!
A wonderful story, which will work for fairy tale lovers and Steampunk lovers alike; this author has a wonderful way of creating new and different stories with the same brilliance that the traditional fairy tale had. They are classics for a reason and this author knows how to make her version just as endearing.
4 stars – It was really good
Red Cape Society Agent Clemeny Louvel is used to dealing with werewolves but when she is reassigned to a special case about missing children, she learns that silver bullets don’t work on all creatures.
This was another fascinating and action packed mystery for Clemeny. She is hunting a kidnapper who is stealing naughty children at night. I really enjoyed the mix of folklore, demonology, and steampunk in this story. It was just a weird mixture that actually worked very well.
Clemeny was just as badass as in the previous cases but this time she has partnered up with her boss, Agent Edwin Hunter. I enjoyed their awkward flirting during their mission. So far this series has not had a relationship but all the flirting has been a wonderful break from the stress of the cases. I do wonder how their relationship will play out considering he is her superior.
Overall, this was a fascinating holiday mission for Clemeny. I couldn’t put this story down and can’t wait to see what is going to happen next for Clemeny and the Red Cape Society.
Karsak has created a magical world with delightful, well developed characters. While her works are listed in the YA category, anyone who loves fairytales will enjoy them.
Halfway through Karsak’s retelling of Little Red Riding Hood, the reader is exposed to Krampus, doing what he’s supposed to do, stealing the naughty children of Victorian England.
In books one through three, Karsak has kept the basic elements of the original tale, while adding some delightful ones of her own. Yes there is a big bad wolf and a grandmother, but not the ones the Brothers Grimm told us about. There is a hunter, but he’s not an ordinary hunter. Even Queen Victoria has a few Druid tricks up her sleeve.
Clemeny is crushing hard on her boss, and it seems as if he feels the same. Grandmother still worries about Clemeny fighting werewolves, but seemed resigned to it. I’d hoped to find out more about Clemeny’s background, what gives her the ability to see fey, even though no one else can, but it looks like I’ll need to buy the next three books to see that mystery solved.
From the title & synopsis I knew book was taking place during Christmas but it did so in a way I didn’t’t expect. I really enjoyed this one. Stories with Christmas setting aren’t really my thing but I really enjoyed this one.
This is the third book in the Red Riding Hood Series. I love this steampunk retelling of Little Red Riding Hood! And I really love how you get them novella size pieces. I would not have thought I would but I like being able to pick one up and not have to put it down until I am done with it.
This story takes place on the 12 days leading up to Christmas. Clemeny who is used to taking down Werewolves is really out of her comfort zone in this one when she has to take down a creature she has never faced before. Who is Clemeny’s partner in this one… none other than Agent Hunter.
I mean even though these books are really short this has been such a slow burn romance and I am living for every minute of it.
We get some of Agent Hunters back story, which ends up adding a whole new level of complicated in Clemeny’s mind regarding any possible relationship. Clemeny is all too aware of where she stands in the ranks of society, but Agent Hunter doesn’t seem to care about any of it.
All in all, I love watching Clemeny grow as a character. Also, I think this world is amazing if you didn’t know all of the author’s steampunk books live in this world.
Another amazing addition to this Little Red Riding Hood steampunk retelling! I couldn’t put it down
She’s on the case, evildoers beware! A certain Christmas carol figured prominently. Will she finally get her man?
BIG BAD WOLF ISN’T THE ONLY THREAT!!!
Karsak really keeps us on our toes. The fun just keeps getting deeper by the line. She weaves a world around you until everything else ceases to exist except for whats right in front of your eyes. Twists and turns abound with nerve racking, nailbiting, thrilling, action packed, rollercoaster ride that keeps your focus on this page turning tale full of suspense. The characters and scenes were intriguing, complex and realistic. I loved how their personalities showed through with unexpected surprises and danger that lurks in the shadows. With such vividly detailed and descriptive scenes that it gives the illusion you were right there in the middle of ground zero with them. Karsak did a remarkable job bringing this read to life flawlessly. Great job Karsak, thanks for sharing this awesome read with us.
