Leaving behind the rural charms of Finnshire, Miss Penelope Fairweather arrives in London with hope in her heart and a dream in her eye. The dowager, no less, has invited her for a season in London, where she will attempt to catch a husband.
Thus begins our heroine’s tale as she attempts to tackle the London season with all her rustic finesse. Unfortunately, her rustic finesse turns out to be as … out to be as delicate as a fat bear trying to rip apart a honeycomb infested with buzzing bees.
What follows is a series of misadventures, love affairs, moonlit balls, fancy clothes, fake moustaches, highwaymen, sneering beauties, pickpockets, and the wrath of a devilishly handsome duke.

this was the Amelia Bedelia of adult books
I found this book to be a bit silly. The actions of the main character seemed so unlikely that it was difficult to be “involved” with the story.
Penelope was a funny and romantic story that you don’t often find in a romance selection. Read and enjoy!
Great character. Unconventional and unrepentant. She was fun to spend a few hours with.
Somewhat boring and predictable.
Some of the actions and observations of Penelope caught me off guard and made me laugh out loud! Highly recommend this book to anyone looking for an entertaining, humorous read.
Enjoyable, light hearted story.
I haven’t laughed out loud so much when reading a book.
This book made me smile. What a great woman Penelope is. she is an original yet so normal Megan Markle better read up.
Fun to read

Madame was hilarious. Lady Bathsheba was delightful and surprisingly well behaved. The Duke’s mother and sister are sweetly conniving and the …
Lighthearted reading with a sweet if unconventional debutante. Secondary characters are just as entertaining and silly.
Loved all the characters! I hated to see it end!
Childish.
I do hope there was not someone this silly but it made me laugh
