A secret hidden in plain sight. A devastating attack. And a world hanging in the balance.
There are a lot of things I wish I’d known earlier—but three top my “wow, she was naïve” list.First—there are others on Pendomus.Second—a prophecy is in motion & I hold the key to the survival of literally everything.Third—I’m being hunted by a madman who is desperately trying to wipe me from existence.… by a madman who is desperately trying to wipe me from existence.
So yeah, no pressure.

INTERVIEW WITH CARISSA ANDREWS
Q: What inspires your writing?
A: I’ve always had a passion for ancient history and old mythologies. I originally went to school for archaeology, but ended up studying ancient art, history, and literature. My life experience has also brought me to some very eclectic interests, which I’ve used to elaborate in my stories… For example, I’m a Reiki Master, I’ve studied mixed martials arts, and have a special place in my heart for the metaphysical. I wanted my stories to be a blend of not only the things I found fascinating, but the sort of tales that I knew my readers would be enthralled with. If you can put down one of my books, then I don’t feel I’ve done my job.
Q: What other books are tied to Pendomus?
A: Pendomus is the first book of the Pendomus Chronicles, a young adult scifi/fantasy/dystopian series available for readers who love genre-bending speculative fiction. All available titles include:
- Trajectory: A Pendomus Chronicles Prequel (found exclusively in On the Brink Dystopian Anthology)
- Pendomus: Book 1 of the Pendomus Chronicles
- Polarities: Book 2 of the Pendomus Chronicles

Q: What other books can readers enjoy?

One of the best otherworldly Sci-fi series I’ve read in a long time. Love Love Love the character creation and world building in Carissa’s novels. I have read all three and devoured them. I love the way she starts out with you not really knowing where the heroine Runa is, from going back in time, to recounting the events and then you find you are way into the future. The planet and its inhabitants are quite different and their interactions with Runa are not clear at first and slowly unfolds. You are in for an entertaining ride.
Action packed story, filled with discovery and unusual friendships. I like how the heroine is depicted when she has to re-evaluate her world view, and the uncertainty this bring on.
This story grabbed me right from the beginning and held my interest until the very end. The characters were well-written and I could hardly wait to see how they were doing.
I will certainly read more of this series as well as other books by this author.
I love the great world the author created in this book. The characters are relatable and wonderful, and I can’t wait to read the other books!
I think this book is good. The characters are good. Unfortunately, I just finished a trilogy of over 1300 pages that was quite similar to this book and I just don’t feel up to another long trilogy that is nearly the same situations. I would recommend this book (in spite of quite a few typing bloopers) because it is a good story and I liked the people.
Runa has really enjoyed spending time outdoors studying the trees and nature and is now anxiously waiting for her professional placement so she can begin to study her life’s dream of plants and trees.
Not long after Runa goes out to study she is attacked by a brutal monster and is barely alive when she is rescued by a stranger. When Runa finally awakens she finds herself surrounded by even more strangers. Who are these strangers? Are they going to hurt her? What are they going to do to her?
After spending time with the three strangers and getting to know them Runa starts to learn a new way of life and that what she has been taught to believe by the people who live in the Helix just might not be the truth. Runa’s life is about to change completely as secrets are revealed and she learns more and more about the people who raised her and the monster that attacked her.
As with Trajectory the world building in Pendomus is just as superb. Carissa Andrews has a very vivid imagination and paints a very great picture of a new world. She makes you feel as if you are right there with the characters doing and seeing whatever they are seeing and doing. I loved Pendomus from the first page to the last. Once I picked it I couldn’t put it down until I had read the last page. I can’t wait to read more of Runa, Traeton, Fenton and Kani’s journeys in the next book Polarities.
I would highly recommend Pendomus to all fans of dystopian or science fiction books.
I simply loved this book. It starts out interesting and goes into fantastic. Carissa Andrews has an original and realistic way of describing a scene that puts the reader there. Her characters are described in a way that you want to be their friend. It’s a magical journey from the moment you read page one! And, it doesn’t stop. I can’t wait to read the rest of the books in the series!
This whole series is action packed and twisted. I’m glad I read the whole series one after another and that half the book wasn’t recaps of the book before. You can not figure out the bad guy at all.
Loved this!
Pendomus starts off with action and never stops! The intrigue keeps you turning pages with this elegantly-wrought dystopian world. I was cheering for the heroine from the very beginning and cannot wait to dive further into this series!
Absolutely Excellent!!
I was a little confused at the beginning. It didn’t last long, and I was unable to put it down for even a moment. This story would make an excellent movie. I cannot wait to begin book 2.
Terrifying yet surreal perspective on terraforming.
Humanity has worked endlessly on the idea we might someday escape Earth. Of course running from our own destruction of our home. The obvious lack of habitable planets nearby created new ideas. Yet our self centered view fails to take into account true affect of our efforts. Without understanding of what our invasion is what will be endangered?
It was a wonderful story and I am starting book 2 in the series now. Cannot say enough about how much I enjoyed this book. The characters were believable and had so many twists and turns in the story and you were sitting on the seat of your chair just waiting for to what would happen next.
Creative and original ideas, but amateur writing.
I liked the premise of this book. The editing is atrocious, unfinished sentences, who edited this book? The characters are too young to be having a love affair. I will say, the author is very imaginative and could have done great things with this book.
