He’s the bad boy quarterback of Boston University’s football team. As the son of a former NFL player, he’s showered with attention and praise twenty-four-seven. One flash of his smile and all the girls fall at his feet – or should I say to their knees? And then there’s me.Brady Lincoln is the last person I want attention from. He’s the kind of guy my father warned me about. His play on the field … play on the field is legendary and his play with the ladies, even more so. I’ve managed to stay off his radar until recently.
What happens when the cocky quarterback breaks all the rules to win my heart?

What an amazing start to the Boston Terriers Series. I couldn’t get enough of Harlow and Brady’s story. When we first meet Brady, he appears as this hot shot football player who likes to play the field but all that quickly changes for him when Harlow literally runs into him at a party. I really enjoyed how Harlow kept Brady on his toes and didn’t fall at his feet and fawn over the football star. He really had to work to prove to Harlow that he is a good guy and that they could be great together. Once their relationship was established, I really enjoyed watching them fall in love. Brady is such a sweetheart and not what I was expecting him to be like. I loved seeing him with Harlow and I loved how close he is with his two best friends. The side characters in this novel are just as amazing as the main characters and I can’t wait for them to get their own books. I will say that their was one twist in the book that I didn’t see coming that shocked me but I liked how Brady and Harlow handled it and were able to work through everything. I would highly recommend this book.
Romance/Erotica has never been my genre of choice until I found Jacob Chance. I thought hmm written by a guy, interesting. This was the first book of his I read and since then have read all his books. I love them so much I started to reread them so I can leave a review while the details are fresh. Anyway back to the review… I think I can read this book over and over. Brady and Harlow are so perfect together. This book has tons of characters that are likable. With the exception of Harlow’s step mom (what a twat) and Cameron who got knocked on his ass by Brady. Don’t stand on the track when the train is coming through. I feel like I was standing on the track and got hit by Brady that perfect motherfucker and when I got back up I was all hearts in my eyes and my heart in hands.
Too predictable. Not realistic enough.
Penalty is a sweet football romance between the reserved girl and the QB player. It’s a quick read and an introduction to the team. You may not like QB1 at the beginning but I have a feeling that will change. Even with penalties awaiting, it’s easy to see the difference.
I think I would have rated this 3.5 or a 4 had it not had some major timeline issues. I went back and forth trying to see if I missed it but nope. 5 months after Winter break is June/July but they are wearing winter clothes and supposedly freezing. If you aren’t as literal and fixated as me, you should have no problem. I think I have a bit of OCD when it comes to details in a story which can lead to figuring out the bomb before it drops. And boy, does it drop….
4.5 Stars
Penalty was another highly enjoyable book by author Jacob Chance. I found this book a bit different than his previous titles in that the suspense-thriller aspect did not exist. That said, Penalty had some angst, a lot of romance and even some humor and witty dialogue.
Brady Lincoln was the popular, arrogant, cocky quarterback on BU’s football team. Yes he was everything stereotypical you might find in a hero of the sports romance genre. But he was so much more. I found that Brady had deep feelings and a huge heart. Sure he was a ‘player’ with the ladies and had no complaints regarding his lifestyle. But unfortunately later, he would have regrets because unexpectedly he found someone he wanted to be good for, to give his heart to. Because of his well-earned reputation, Brady will have to work very hard to get his girl. Though he didn’t mind the effort he would have to put fourth.
It would be worth it.
Because ‘she’ was worth it.
Harlow was quiet, shy and devoted to her studies. She was not a party girl. When she meets Brady, she is enthralled by his celebrity status, gorgeous looks and confident attitude, even if he unnerved her. What Harlow didn’t like was Brady’s reputation. As a result, she didn’t trust him at first. But Brady wasn’t giving up. He was the perfect gentlemen with anything and everything to do with Harlow. Brady totally won me over.
Watching their relationship develop from strangers to acquaintances to friends to romance was sweet and endearing. Brady impressed me over and over with his charm and wit. He was also a sexy, dirty talker. 😉
Penalty is not a suspense novel as I mentioned earlier. The heat aspect is downright sexy and erotic. The chemistry between Brady and Harlow was strong and I easily felt it through the writing. That said, I appreciated they took their time with intimacy however the sexual tension was thick in the atmosphere around them. This book is also written in both POVs. I loved being inside Brady’s head as much as in Harlow’s.
There is a snag in their relationship that needs repairing before they find their HEA. Remember what I said earlier about Brady and regrets? I’ll just let you ponder that…….
Another aspect of this book I enjoyed was the scene descriptions. I felt like I was in Boston. I walked the streets along with the characters, I attended the football games and I even felt like I was at the afterparties. The secondary characters were a great addition to the story as well. Some were likable and funny and there were a few that were not. In fact there is one character in particular that I wished had different ending, where they got what they deserved.
The epilogue was sweet. Brady was such a sexy, alpha who also had a sweet romantic side.
I knew I was going to like this author, just from the drop-ins he had done in some of my other favorite authors, but oh wow. He blew my mind.
Harlow, likes to fly under the radar, but when she accidently spills her drink on the football quarterback god, she gets on his radar.
Brady, is a player. He doesn’t get names. He doesn’t get phones numbers and he certainly doesn’t do relationships.
Girls fall at his feet and he doesn’t get rejected, until Harlow.
He doesn’t know what to do with that information, but he can tell there is something special about this girl.
As he starts to wear her down, he discovers that maybe she could be the one.
Harlow, must give up her misconception of the star quarterback and learn to trust.
She hasn’t had an easy life, but it’s making her way in the world none the less.
This is a well thought out character romance story, with some twists and turns you might not see coming.
I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
**Who is this guy?
One minute he’s a cocky @sshole and the next he’s unbelievably sweet. He has me completely off balance and I don’t know what to make of him.
Which one is the real Brady?
Yup, that’s exactly what Brady is… a cocky, arrogant @sshole. Lol. But that’s what I love about books, you can have the cocky jock that no woman can tame…until he meets just the right woman to change all that!
**Zeke playfully shoves me back away from him. “Dude, you’re such a d***head when it comes to women. Someday you’ll meet a girl who’ll knock you on your @ss and you won’t even know what hit you.” He smiles. “I can’t f****ng wait.”
And boy does Harlow knock him on his @ss, she don’t put up with his ways. She keeps him grounded and she’s the perfect match for him. I love when the hero is so into with the heroine that his whole perspective on his life changes. He realizes women aren’t just playthings and have feelings too. I loved seeing that change in Brady and that side of him just made my heart melt!
Well written, I really enjoyed Brady and Harlow’s story!

Penalty is a sports romance which is set around college football. The male protagonist is a cocky player Brady Lincoln who gets any girl he wants. Brady just exists on playing great football, hooking up with any girl he wants and partying. Arrogant doesn’t even cover it. He’s good looking and a real charmer and he knows it.
Harlow Summers is a beautiful petite young lady who is driven to succeed in college. She works hard to gain good grades and is quite obsessive in her exam preparation. Harlow has no time to get involved with any football player especially one as egotistical as Brady.
Harlow is dragged along to a party at the frat house by her friend Raine against her better judgement as she isn’t much of a party girl. She spectacularly bumps into a hard chest which results in her drink being spilt all over her. It’s none other than Brady Lincoln. Harlow feigns interest and makes it look like she doesn’t really know him. Brady is taken aback by the cute little young lady and is knocked straight off kilter.
Brady sets his sights on chasing Harlow, enamoured with the motivation to prove that he is not the person others are lead to believe he is. He’s determined to get to know Harlow as she has him completely intrigued. Harlow is equally attracted to him but her studies and her heart are extremely important to her. She tries to avoid him at all costs, however this proves to be a fruitless action on her part. Brady and Harlow get to the point of getting to know each other and they make a sweet couple.
The romance between the two is a bit of a slow burn however, the chemistry sizzles. Underneath the persona of what Brady appears to be isn’t what he really is about. He has a sweet caring side to him that is brought out by Harlow. Make no mistake though Harlow isn’t the typical college innocent you normally get in these type of sports romance stories. She really is quite sassy and I did laugh at the interaction between the two of them.
As I devoured the book I learnt this was not the average football jock and shy timid girl story; far from it. There was quite a lot in their lives that materialised and I was shocked at a part that was exposed in the book. I did not see that coming at all. The supporting characters were very likable and I will add made me laugh a few times. Especially Harlow and Raine and their exchanges.
“Here’s to those that wish us well and those that don’t can go to hell.”
The author is known for suspense/romance and bravely ventured into the sports romance genre. It is erotic and mixed with a sweet romantic feel to it. There is a touch of sadness to their story but it’s evened out with some of the funny moments. The character development was very cleverly conveyed throughout the story. I thoroughly enjoyed this offering and award it five stars for the entertainment factor. Brady and Harlow are the sweetest couple. What I discovered towards the end really blew me away as didn’t see that coming. That’s what I like about this author, he always manages to sneak in a clever twist to leave you thinking and wanting to re-read again and again.
The cover is super hot and the read was sexy as hell. The story was cute, but was a little predictable to me…not quite as gripping as I thought it would be, but a hot read nonetheless….
Brady is the confident, athletic , sexy man that all the girls want. When a girl literally knocks into him, his world changes. I loved their chemistry. When the twist happened I wanted to slap Brady and that evil woman. But how it all turned out made me happy.
I truly enjoyed this college romance. Brady sees a girl – Harlow with a difference, she’s not like the girls he normally sleeps with. Getting her to drop the walls of self preservation will be tough but he’s up for the challenge. Great read.
Brady is the perfect package – quarterback, gorgeous, charming, & can have his pick of the ladies. Which is why Harlow steers clear from him. Her safe & orderly life does not mesh with Brady’s popular one. But Brady is not one to give up easily, especially knowing she’s the one he’s been waiting for all his life.
Fans of college & football will love this book! A sweet story of finding love when you least expect it.
A sweet falling in love story. Great characters. Did not see the plot twist coming. So original. Nice read with a happy ending.
Have love this book, one of my favorites. I’ve read it several times and learn something new every time.
I loved it! I’ve never read this author before and as soon as I got the book I couldn’t put it down so happy to find out theres a series.
Penalty is a passionate story but at the same time, it had a sweet romantic feel to it. Whilst there is a tinge of sadness to the story, it’s balanced perfectly with some outright funny moments. The character development was skilfully conveyed throughout the story. I truly loved this offering and the entertainment factor. Brady and Harlow are the sweetest couple. What I discovered towards the end was mind-blowing. I didn’t even see it coming. This is what I like about this author, he always manages to sneak in a clever plot twist to leave you thinking and guessing as well as wanting to re-read time and time again.
The romance between the two is a a slow burn, however the chemistry is instant and it sizzles. Underneath the persona of what Brady appears to be isn’t who he really is. He has a sweet, funny and caring side to him which Harlow brings out of him. Harlow is not the typically college innocent you would usually get in these type of sports romance stories. She really is unexpectedly sassy and feisty and I thoroughly enjoyed the interaction between the two of them.
The story that unfolded is entertaining, humorous and witty; whilst being heartfelt, real and true. There were times while I was reading that I found myself laughing out loud, or just cringing because of something a character did. While there were minor bumps throughout the story, there is a major hurdle to overcome in order to get their HEA. In the end, I felt myself rooting for Brady and Harlow all the way and wanted them to work things out and to be happy.
Lovely story about the playboy quarterback who meets someone he likes enough to settle down for. There are some twists to the relationship. Brady in wooing made is really sweet and Harlow deserves some decent love.
Penalty captivated me right from the beginning. This sports romance is romantic, sweet, sexy and funny. Brady and Harlow have undeniable chemistry. Their attraction is magnetic and irresistible. The banter is witty and they spar so well with one another. They share an intense connection that neither can explain. Harlow tries to resist Brady’s charms but is powerless to stop the fall and he is determined to win her over. I loved how they slowly fell in love; it was breathtaking to read. The characters are well-developed and relatable. The storyline is well-written. This beautiful love story is sweet, steamy and heart-melting. I loved every second and highly recommend this book!
Jacob Chance strikes again with another great book. A cocky, arrogant college football player who has women falling at his feet and doesn’t see this lifestyle ending soon, however that is until Harlow literally stumbles into him at a frat party. Brady Lincoln can’t shake this girl from his mind and she is the only girl ever to turn him down. Their story is witty, hot and steamy and filled with drama but like a lot of Jacob Chance books there is always a surprise twist that you will not see coming. Brady and Harlow’s story will keep you captivated right up until the very end. If you love a good football romance where the quiet girl steals his heart then one click this book now as you will not be disappointed
I love his writing just not into the sports romances
