Best friends, Suzie and Mary, love running Dune House, their majestic bed and breakfast on the beach. With their trusty, energetic Yellow Labrador, Pilot, by their side they are enjoying the new opportunities that being in their fifties have presented them. Their lives are full of friendship, romance, a business they love to run together and experiencing what the beautiful, small seaside town of … of Garber has to offer.
But when someone is murdered amongst a group of people and one of the prime suspects is staying at the B&B, Suzie and Mary decide to lend a helping hand to the investigators and do a little snooping of their own. But their investigations uncover some secrets about the locals and lead them down a path of discovery they prefer would have remained hidden.
Will Suzie and Mary find that the murderer is too close for comfort? Has the best friends’ luck finally run out and they have bitten off more than they can chew?

Cindy Bell has done it again! Pelican, Piers, and Poison took Suzie and Mary through several clues and suspects before they figured out the exact murder before putting themselves in danger. I was completely caught up with this book as I tried to figure who the murderer was and I was just as surprised as Suzie was! Lots of suspects to choose from therefore, I was thrown off. (I just wish Mary would share some of her recipes!) I received a free copy of this book. My thoughts/opinions are my own.
Love,Love, love, these books, so much fun to read,. Great characters, when I am finishing a book.. can’t wait to be SURE I have more lined up ready waiting for me.LOVE ALL CINDY BELL BOOKS
Mary Brent and Suzie Allen, owners of Dune House Bed and Breakfast, are visited by Hannah, the owner of a new restaurant in Garber, Pelicans on the Pier, they wonder if a restaurant that has guests sit around a table with strangers and all eat the same food, can survive in their small town of Garber. When a stranger in town, Jerome Poole, a private investigator, eats at the restaurant and dies of an apparent poisoning in front of the restaurant, Detective Jason Allen, sets to work on the list of suspects.
Could it be Travis Parker, the owner of a local hardware store, who had an altercation with Jerome at Cheny’s Restaurant the night before? Maybe Chef Cody Shouder at Pelicans who has a past with the law. Or is it Ginger, one of Mary and Suzie’s guests, who has worked with this particular chemical/poison in her job? Maybe it is Marco Cheney, owner of Cheney’s Restaurant, who doesn’t want the competition in town. Or it might be Jerome’s newest case following Freddy Manchester, a suspicious stranger who has been walking the docks that has a link to the Mennossi Crime Family in New York.
The characters are great in this series. There are lots of twists and turns in the book that will keep you reading until you have completed it.
I received an advance copy of this book. This is my honest review.
I enjoyed reading the clean simple mysteries. I just want to relax while reading.
cozy-mystery, law-enforcement, amateur-sleuth, women-sleuths, murder, bed-and-breakfast
I enjoyed this different type of cozy mystery having main characters over fifty. I see that it belongs to a series, but it wasn’t necessary to read previous to enjoy this one. The characters are realistic the plot is well done, the plot twists are interesting, and the red herrings diabolical. A good read!
Cindy Bell has done it again! I was glued to this book from start to finish. I love the dynamics between Mary and Suzie and their guests at Dune House and nothing stops them from getting involved in local mysteries. A suspicious poisoning has them investigating once again and there are more suspects than they can count. They are fearless which scares the men in their lives immensely. My favorite thing about this series besides the mystery is the loyalty and support that Mary and Suzie have for each other. It truly makes you long to have a person like that in your own life. And I can’t forget the lovable and loyal fur baby, Pilot. I know I say this all of the time but I cannot wait for their next adventure!
