Pelican Cove was pleasantly new to me!
Loved the setting and characters, especially the bold and brave Jenny! All three short stories are cozy and just the right length for a nighttime read. Loved the recipes as well, especially the tomato basil soup and sangria (but not together)! Intrigued enough to keep reading this author and series…looking forward!
Jenny King has learned how to move on from her husband in a small town of Pelican Cove. There her aunt convinces her to work at the local cafe. Turns out that Jenny is just what the cafe and town needed. She is an amazing cook, but she is also great at solving crimes. I adore the characters in this series! I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this collection.
Short stories supply a great intro to the series!
Hazelnuts and Halloween: A Short Cozy Murder Mystery 1
I really enjoy reading a good cozy mystery. While looking through my library of downloaded to-be-read ebooks, the cover of this book caught my eye. It is the first book I have read by Leena Clover. Even though this is a short story, it is a well-written, clean, fun, and easy read. The murder fit well with the Halloween theme of the story. I found the characters likeable and entertaining. So much so, I have already downloaded the first full length book in the Pelican Cove Cozy Mystery Series and plan to begin reading it after posting this review.
I like the writing style of Leena Clover and this little cozy was a gem of a short story.
Candy Canes and Christmas: A Pelican Cove Short Cozy Mystery 2
What a sweet, light-hearted, and fun holiday/cozy read. If you haven’t began reading the series yet, I have no doubt this short story will draw you into the series as it did me.
Sorbets and Sailors: A Pelican Cove Short Cozy Mystery 3
This is a great little short story that shows just how far Jenny will go to clear a favor customer and friend’s name. If you are not sure about committing to reading a new series, this collection of short stories is just what you need. It is a great way to meet a lot of Pelican Cove residents and gain insight into Jenny’s personality and character.

Jenny notices a stranger on the beach entertaining children and passing out candy canes. He does not seem to know very much and seems lost, so Jenny gives him the name “Harry”. Jenny invites him to stay with her while she tries to help him regain his memory.
Who is Harry really? Is he suffering from amnesia? Where is his family? Can Jenny help him regain his life?
Story #3 – Sorbets and Sailors
Captain Charlie’s nephew, William, has returned to Pelican Cove after a five year absence. William is better known around town as Nemo. Nemo invites everybody to his family home, The Willows, for dinner and a party. Nemo and Captain Charlie have a little too much to drink and stay up quite late. When Jenny opens the Boardwalk Cafe the next morning, she is surprised that Charlie and Nemo are nowhere to be found. A little later, Jason informs Jenny that Nemo has been found dead.
