With The Cookie Jar, Hannah Swensen has a mouthwatering monopoly on the bakery business of Lake Eden, Minnesota. But when a rival store opens, tensions begin to bubble. . .As she sits in her nearly empty store on Groundhog Day, Hannah can only hope that spring is just around the corner–and that the popularity of the new Magnolia Blossom Bakery is just a passing fad. The southern hospitality of … hospitality of Lake Eden’s two Georgia transplants, Shawna Lee and Vanessa Quinn, is grating on Hannah’s nerves—and cutting into her profits.
At least Hannah has her business partner Lisa’s wedding to look forward to. She’s turned one of Lisa’s favorite childhood treats into a spectacular Wedding Cookie Cake. And Lisa’s aunt will be bringing her famous Peach Cobbler to the reception. But Hannah starts to steam when she finds out that Shawna Lee has been invited–and is bringing her own Peach Cobbler.
Hannah doesn’t like having the Georgia Peach in the mix, especially when both Shawna Lee and Hannah’s sometime-boyfriend, Detective Mike Kingston, are no-shows to the wedding. Hannah has suspected that Mike is interested in more than Shawna Lee’s baking abilities. So when she sees lights on at the Magnolia Blossom Bakery after the reception, she investigates–and finds Shawna Lee shot to death.
Everyone in town knew the Cookie Jar was losing business to the Magnolia Bakery–a fact that puts Hannah at the top of the initial list of suspects. But with a little help from her friends, Hannah’s determined to prove that she wasn’t the only one who had an axe to grind with the Quinn sisters. Somebody wasn’t fooled by the Georgia Peaches and their sweet-as-pie act–and now it’s up to Hannah to track down whoever had the right ingredients to whip up a murder. . .

Fluke’s bakery mystery series is excellent, and this book is no exception. The right mix of romance, mystery and plot twist. These books suit the author’s style perfectly.
Excellent series, I will enjoy them all
Peach Cobbler Murder by Joanne Fluke
This cozy murder mystery starts with Hannah at the Cookie Jar with Lisa, her assistant and they are discussing
the new baker in town, right across the street. Herb, Lisa’s fiance told her that Mike, the cop had spent at least an hour in her bedroom the night before.
They notice 20+ patrons go to the new shop and their shop has no customers. Andrea shows up and tells them of her gym class, loses of baby weight and back to work selling houses
and she agrees to go to the new bakery and order one of everything so they can compare with their shop.
Always good to catch up with the people I’ve followed over for 10 years now. Norman is the dentist and he did not abandon the cookie jar…
Lisa’s dad has invited Shaunna from the new bakery shop to her wedding..
So many suspects and alias names in this book, twists and turns even after that…
Great book, very fast paced action investigations.
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).
Hannah is in trouble when Shawna Lee opens Magnolia Blossom Bakery across the street. Hannah’s customers have left the Cookie Jar to eat all of Shawna Lees desserts. It’s a total hit to Hannah’s bakery and she fears she may have to close down the cookie jar.
Hannah catches a break but not the break she wanted when Shawna Lee is found dead in the Magnolia Blossom Bakery by none other then herself. From being stressed about having to possibly close down the Cookie Jar Hannah’s nerves hit an all time high when she’s the number one suspect of Shawna Lees murder.
Not only is Hannah worried about being the number one suspect. She suspects something is not quiet right with her mother’s new boyfriend. She knows nothing about him and he just seems to go to be true. With the help of Norman she finds out that Winthrop may not be who he says he is.
I don’t know what has brought on Hannah correcting everybody’s bad English. I know she was on her way to get her Masters degree in English but book 1-5 she never did that. It’s quite annoying actually.
I love Joanne Fluke and this book is as good as the rest. An easy read, great for a lazy afternoon or waiting on the doctor’s office or just sitting with a nice cup of coffee.
her books are very interesting
Great read. Great recipes
This is the most fun I’ve had with this series yet. The story was pure, silly fun. The case managed to eliminate a character I didn’t care for, in addition to having some great twists and turns. And the ending finally took one element of the series that had previously been irritating, elevated it to an unexpected new level, and made me laugh right out loud in the last three pages. I can’t wait to see what Hannah and the gang cook up (sorry) next!
Fluke steps up the series with Peach Cobbler Murder by focusing on core characters, tying up some loose ends from previous books, showing the power of strong and close relationships and setting what is hopefully the final competition between Mike and Norman for Hannah’s heart.
The recipes sound delicious (but may be getting to be too strong of a theme in each book) and are integrating into the story more closely. Between these books and The Great British Baking Show, I am constantly surrounded by desserts lately!
Definitely a standout in the series so far!
Hannah is living through a nightmare. Shawna Lee and her sister have opened a bakery across the street from The Cookie Jar and they are taking all her customers. (Their taking Mike too.) When someone kills Shawna Lee, Hannah is of course the prime suspect and she’s got to clear her name! Mike shows (what I feel) are his true colors and Hannah is better off without him. A few shocking twists and turns make this book great.
Hannah’s rival Shawna Lee is found murdered in her new bakery. Can Hannah find the killer before she gets blamed for the crime? Another fun visit to the town of Lake Eden that fans will enjoy.
I thoroughly enjoy Hannah Swenson, and the dynamics among Hannah, her sisters and their mother make me laugh. Also, I love cats, and Moishe and Cuddles are SO true to life. I have my fingers crossed that eventually Hannah will wake, realize what a solid gold man Norman is, and marry him!
Good and easy read.
