Would you work for a deranged robot? Harriet Walsh does! Her weapon won’t fire without the right paperwork, the patrol car is driving her up the wall, and her crime-fighting computer doesn’t even have solitaire.Welcome to the Peace Force …Peace Force is set in the distant future, where the galaxy has been colonised and human-like robots are commonplace. It’s good clean fun, written with wry … commonplace. It’s good clean fun, written with wry humor.

From the start you want to throw the book out, but in the end you want to read the next book. Simon Hayes can build a character that you can rally behind. Nicely built off world descriptions. Makes you want to visit the place.
Just not the book for me. There were lots of funny parts but mostly disappointing.
An enjoyable easy read.
This book had a very interesting plot almost unique in this age. I enjoyed it but I want to see your bundle of the rest of the books before considering purchasing
This seems a bit like someone tried to do a comic “space” story in the vein of the Hitchhiker’s Guide series. Didn’t work for me at all. Some humor but a disjointed story that struggles to stay coherent.
Very original, with the read. Looking forward to the next volume.
Lighthearted and an easy read.
Humerous
A fun read.
It is witty and whimsical, it is a also a book that ties up all the loose ends in a couple of pages at the very end. I don’t care for a book that is fun to read, the author knows it is the first of a series, then in two pages ends the story.
I would blame the editor more than the author for how it ends. Disappointing enough I’m not willing to invest more time into the rest of the series.
Interesting and humorous
I chuckled my way through Harriet’s adventures. Harriet takes a job as the only police officer trainee on a world with ‘no’ crime. Her boss (the only other police officer on the planet) is a female persona robot that is so tied up with regulations that she has trouble doing anything. This sets the scene for exasperation fun!
Crazy funny the main character is in continual flux not knowing where it’s coming from next
A fun read.
I was hooked by the title — Peace Force. A total oxymoron. I didn’t have a lot of hope, but I jumped right in. It’s a very cute book of a pattern I’ve seen many times — a person at the end of their rope lucks into a place where their unique talents fit the exact requirements of the moment. Still, it’s well told and has a reasonably satisfying ending.
Was a fun read, quirky characters
3.5 stars, rounded up. The subtitle is “A light scifi adventure.” Emphasis on the “light.” There is enough humor in the book to compensate for the fairly predictable plot. The somewhat amoral robot was an interesting, if not particularly likable, character. I thought the author took an easy way out at the end to repair (maybe?) the robot’s and main character’s relationship. Perhaps that issue will be explored further in the next book.
Brilliant! I so enjoyed this book.
This novel was well written and very enjoyable. I love the story line.
The book is clearly intended as a farce, but even a farce needs a small level of internal consistency. Unfortunately, there isn’t even a trace to be found here. Read Retief, or Phule, to get a feel for what farce should feel like. Move on, nothing to see here.
