Would you work for a deranged robot? Harriet Walsh does! Her weapon won’t fire without the right paperwork, the patrol car is driving her up the wall, and her crime-fighting computer doesn’t even have solitaire.Welcome to the Peace Force …Peace Force is set in the distant future, where the galaxy has been colonised and human-like robots are commonplace. It’s good clean fun, written with wry … commonplace. It’s good clean fun, written with wry humor.
Each Harriet Walsh novel is a complete, stand-alone story. No cliffhanger at the end of each book!

Harriet Walsh is also a major character in the Hal Spacejock books, and she joins the series in Hal Spacejock 4, No Free Lunch.
The Harriet Walsh, Hal Spacejock and Hal Junior novels are all set in the same universe.more
Peace Force is a fun romp of a book. My favorite character was Steve, the sentient car who desperately wanted to go to the beach. I can totally relate to that.
I related to the protagonist, Harriet, as well. Down on her luck, with no job in sight, and suddenly, she’s offered a paying gig with the Peace Force. I wouldn’t have looked too hard at the fine print, either.
I read a lot more fantasy than sci-fi, but this book had a lot of moments that made me smile, and that transcends genre for me. Pick up this book if you’re looking for a lighthearted read.
Great opening to a funny series. On a dismal (spelled Dismolle) ‘crimeless’ retirement world, the only police office is run by a single robot – who might be committing fraud in order to literally put the lights on. Then it gets its first human recruit in years. Ready or not, she gets to investigate an actual crime.
a good read
definitely off the wall but amusing
Enjoyed reading, although not a lot of action nor character development. Was witty and cute. An adequate start to the trilogy surrounding these characters.
Fun book, unusual futuristic story. Author didn’t go to far out trying to make humorous Sci-Fi. Just right.
Great ride, really curious about what’s to follow. Sure to be a hoot!
Very interesting story about a future civilization supposedly without any crime. The characters and situations were very original and well thought out. This is a great series for futuristic fans.
Starts a bit slowly and is somewhat predictable. Amusing and funny in places, but really drops the ball when it comes to the actual science part of science fiction. A nuclear fusion powered cop car does not have an engine that roars – at least not more than once!
This science fiction book is a nice twist on robotics and the off beat challenges of a loosely governed city or territory on a future world. The characters move through the plot in a way that I found amusing.
A world where there is no peace force still has a lot of problems.
This book was a slow starter, but it finally picked up some steam and was pretty good. Interesting characters and a good ending.
This was a fun read. Quirky characters and crimes abound. Gotta love a robot with a trend toward committing her own crimes while being in charge of the Peace Force.
A great summer read that doesn’t leave you frustrated at the end because it is the first in a sequel.
This book is a fast read and will give you a ride on the wild side.
It appears that the police force is nonexistent since the water supply is drugged essentially stamping out crime. Thus no need for police except for one police robot that recruits a trainee who stumbles across crime and continues to butt heads with the police robot who is her supervisor and trainer.
light SiFi OK
Joining the police force on a planet so peaceful it doesn’t need police seems safe, don’t you think? Don’t bet on it. One of the mian characters is the funniest robot since Marvin from Hitchhiker’s Guide. As a fan of Simon Haynes’ “Hal Spacejock” novels, I’ll admit I went into this new novel fully expecting to like it. My expectations were met and exceeded. I ended up liking Harriet Walsh even more than Hal. It’s a fast-moving and fun space adventure with down-on-her-luck Harriet turning peace officer as an emergency solution to her problems. Despite the obstacles thrown at her by a well-meaning but overbearing robot superior, Harriet rises to the challenge of her new job. The characters are fun and well-drawn, and the plot moves quickly through twists and turns, leaving some unanswered mysteries for the continuation of the series. Also, this is clean reading for any age, so I can recommend it unreservedly for anyone who likes space and police adventure. Definitely will be reading more in the series!
This is the first time that I have read this author but not the last. I enjoyed reading this light and humorous science fiction story. It was kind of a slapstick comedy. The characters are great. I’m thrilled that Steve finally got his trip to the beach!
This is the kind of book you read just for fun. And it is fun. The concept is funny, especially the robot (but I won’t say why–no spoilers here). There is a fun combination of action and absurdity. The main characters are drawn well enough to be sympathetic. So, if you like SciFi and you like it with a dash of silliness, you’ll enjoy this book.
ok read
