ALLIE HARRIS WANTS PAYBACK. Her cheating ex deserves to see her living her best life; a one-night-stand with a hot South African soccer player would be the perfect revenge. Right? Wrong. THE PROBLEM?

All I can say is Roan DeWalt can rival the Harris Brother’s. When Allie Harris moves back to London the last thing she expects is to run into her extremely hot one-night stand. But Roan is determined. Loved this story so much!
*4,5 stars*
The series around the Harris Brothers is really one of my favorites and when I found out there would be a new one out, a story about their cousin, I was very excited about it. I had high expectations. It was a fun, sexy read and also emotional at times. Definitely a recommended read!
Allie never expected to be betrayed in a way she didn’t think was possible and when she goes to London to try and seek revenge, to get some payback on her ex, it leads her in the arms of a sexy and hot football player that is still trying to find his place in his new team after moving from South Africa. Their one-night stand encounter may be life altering, but Allie goes back to Chicago to hopefully get her life back on track. Now two years later, she returns to London for a new change of scenery and the last person she thought she would see again, is the same man who she hasn’t forgotten about in the time she has been away… but neither did he. After all the heartbreak Allie has endured, piece by piece she’s finding herself again and being with Roan has made her realise what she’s been missing all along. But Allie is hiding a secret from Roan that could break their relationship but more importantly his career… Will both finally be able to find their happy ending in the end?…
I can’t believe how lucky we all are that Amy Daws decided to revisit The Harris Brothers world. Choosing to bring us Roan and Allie’s story made this girl really, really happy.
I don’t know why I had it in my mind that Roan DeWalt was a player, but that notion was very quickly put aside. He is a sexy, sexy man who aided Allie in a time of need, only to have it come back and bite him.
Allie was a little, tiny bit, needed at the beginning but as the story progressed and her relationship with Roan developed, she came into her own. Her interactions with the Harris family were wonderful, full of all the feels of family and of course, the humor that is Camden and Tanner.
Ms. Daws brought all the characters in this book, both old and new, to life with brilliant writing and an exceptional story line that made this story a page turner from the start. I have, and will continue to, recommend all of Amy’s books because she gives good story.
All the feels in this book have my heart absolutely exploding right now. I have loved the Harris brothers and all their adventures from the beginning and even more so now that they brought their cousin into the mix. Roan was the most perfect man and why they don’t make them like him in real life I don’t understand. Alice was in a dark/rebound place when she met him, did something foolish and realized the error of her ways but like all good things….. These characters just felt so real and so natural and I want to be besties with all of them. The humor in here had me laughing out loud, tears in my eyes a couple times and some adequately placed steam.
Real or fake? This book is as real as it gets <3
5 Harris Shakedown Stars!!!
I seriously freaking loved this story. I love how the Harris family came together. Allie and Roan are on the same page for what’s going to happen when they first meet. But what they weren’t expecting is the connection that was immediately there. Talk about a memorable evening! Of course, there’s so much more to this night that he’s not aware of and when he finds out…holy moly it’s a doozy of a reaction!
Roan is my newest favorite BBF. He’s the whole package and the fact that he stands up to all the Harris brothers makes him the PERFECT fit for Allie! I loved how he was there for her helping her realize what an amazing woman she is! And when I tell you, this is a girl that needs to hear this, I’m not lying. There’s this underlying issue in her family and my heart truly ached for her…but never fear, it all comes to a head so to speak and it’s sweet justice!!!
These two are hotter than hot. Their love growing almost organically so to speak. There’s several surprises in this book that had me laughing, crying and filling me with so much joy! Ms. Daws has done a phenomenal job of giving us more of the Harris clan but also introducing us to more secondary characters for us to fall in love with….there’s two in particular that I can’t wait for them to get their own story!!!
As I mentioned at the beginning of my review I FREAKING LOVED this story. It’s everything I wanted when it comes to a book set in the Harris family world. These boys protect their cousin like no one else especially when it comes to her love life….two words….Harris Shakedown and of course there’s the Harris Bacon Sandwich rule that I swear had me snort laughing.
I’m so happy to be back in the Harris world and can’t wait to see what Ms. Daws has for us in the future!
One night stand romance! YESSS!
Payback is a spectacular masterpiece filled with breathtaking imperfection that shows us that while we are not perfect our love always is. I was left grasping for every encouraging word and uplifting emotion that flows from the golden pages of this indescribable journey. This story fits so well into the Harris collection, and it continues to show us that even and especially imperfect people deserve love. Without love we are left as empty vessels just moving around a world that is always turning. Love breathes life into every part of our being and shows us how life was always meant to be lived – with bright color, bone deep warmth, and an unending feeling of home.
Allie saw her world falling around her when she caught her boyfriend in a compromising position. The betrayal cut deeper then she first thought, and before she fell apart, she started fighting. She became a dangerous hurricane that threatened to widen its patch of destruction beyond her initial intentions. Roan is a successful soccer player just starting to build his career into what he has always dreamed. He knows he has to stay focused, but when he agrees to escort Allie to her aunt’s wedding reception, everything shifts whenever he sees her. Even if his head is desperate to keep him on track, his heart has other plans for this determined yet lost woman in his arms. Is love enough to save someone fighting to overcome their past, or will the raging waves of pain and bitterness succeed in pulling them under once and for all?
Allie and Roan left me completely wrecked! I never saw them coming, and as a result my heart wasn’t braced for the hurricane that is this unlikely couple. Their difference made them so uniquely perfect for each other, and yet circumstances kept pulling them apart relentlessly. My heart went out to Allie as I could relate to her in so many ways. Roan made me fall in love with him in the smallest and yet most powerful of ways. He matched Allie’s desperation for love, and her heart touched his in a way no one person had before. Talk about the perfect sun to the other’s moon! *Sigh* These two made me laugh so hard and cry until I had no more tears left. They were perfectly broken and yet they fit each other perfectly. Love can’t be defined by anyone except by you. You know what you feel, and you know what you need. Hold onto what you need, and lead those you can’t live without into your heart for all time.
Amy Daws has delighted and entertained us with the Harris family, and this book just took that series to epic heights of literary bliss! She never fails to challenge and push us the entire time, and that makes this book a pure masterpiece of bliss and joy. Even in the depths of dark heartbreak, she never fails to through us a small glimpse of sunlight as a desperate lifeline. She is a goddess of romance, and I look forward to enjoying her incredible books for many years to come!
New one night stand sports romance from Amy Daws!
Amy Dawes brings us back into her Harris Brothers world with the story of their cousin Allie and footballer Roan.
Roan is an excellent hero and he and Allie have so much chemistry together. I loved their banter, getting to see their growth as the book progresses, and how they make their way to an HEA.
If you have read the Harris Brothers series you’ll be excited to see they do make some appearances here. It is so much fun to head back into their world, but from a new perspective. I can’t wait to see what’s next.
Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.
I love how freaking original this story was! I’ve read a lot of stories where the main characters get together because of a pre-arranged plan to get back at one of their exes by pretending to be together and sowing seeds of jealousy for whatever reason, i.e. reuniting with the ex or merely pointing out that they’ve moved on. Here, Allie Harris already has her plan in place, and Roan DeWalt is her unwitting accomplice. The whole video story angle was very interesting because it basically flips the usual on its head. Here, it’s the guy who’s clueless to being videoed while having sex while the girl’s the one who’s got it all thought out, although in Allie’s case, there may have been a thing or two that she hadn’t quite though through–like returning to London and falling in love with her one-night stand from a couple years ago. Ah, life and love are complicated, but those complications are what keep things entertaining, at least from a romance reader’s point of view. No one likes real-life complications! And with Amy Daws generously peppering her stories with her brand of humor, a guaranteed fantastic time should be had by all.
Roan and Allie were so damn refreshing. These two were all hot and bothered and couldn’t care less about pretending otherwise. They were like two puzzle pieces that slotted right into place–opposites who balanced each other out rather perfectly. The banter was sheer genius and I could have happily listened to the back and forth they had going if they were real people…or I could make do and just listen to the audiobook, right? Yes, we do get the Harris siblings, their respective partners, and their sensible father here and they make their presence known with no apologies. They are Harrises after all, meaning they’re loving and protective and in everyone’s business. This book took me about three or so hours to read, yet it felt like time simply flew by as I got to know Roan and Allie better and promptly fell in love with them just as they were falling in love with each other. Their story can be read as a standalone but do yourselves a favor and read the stories of Allie’s cousins! I promise, you won’t regret it. Amy Daws has yet to disappoint; it’s a good thing I don’t bother holding my breath she will! Five-plus stars for Payback.
Allie is the cousin of the infamous Harris family and when they are all involved you quickly learn to expect the unexpected. Roan is a sexy South African soccer player, and from the moment he meets Allie the chemistry is explosive. But Allie had a secret which if it is revealed will ruin any chance of a relationship! This is a beautifully written story, which is fun, entertaining, hilarious, and romantic, with heartbreak, emotion and secrets, which all lead to a captivating story which is an addictive page turner. I cannot wait to read more from this exceptional author, whose work I highly recommend for all.
Just when you thought a series you loved was over and then the author delivers this amazing, heartwarming and at points heartbreaking love story. Now don’t take my words as doom and gloom because I laughed so hard at points I almost pee’d. This book is now firmly up there with my favourite Harris family books. How could it not be, it contains all the loons.
Alice Harris is just as crazy as her cousins and although she is blood she hasn’t had much of a life with her own family and didn’t really see the Harris family as she was living in America. When things change in her world she comes and find home with the Harris’s. She is crazy, loud mouthed at times and like all the family she has a heart of gold.
Roan Dewalt is just heaven on the field of football and in reality too. He is mister no nonsense and no trouble. Moving from South Africa and embarking on a life at Bethnal Green UTD. He becomes involve with Harris clan and thanks to Vi he becomes involved with the long lost member Alice. Will his squeaky clean person stay intact.
Now this book had me with tears rolling down my cheeks, rage like I haven’t felt whilst reading in sometime. The emotions that this book evoked were strong and consuming. Now this wouldn’t be a Harris book without the laughs. And on more than one occasion I laughed and laughed.
My review is vague but it has to be or you won’t experience this book how it should be. I thoroughly enjoy this fantastic book. And I totally recommend it and the whole series.

“If there is enough love, all is forgivable.”
When Allie Harris catches her boyfriend cheating on her, she decides that having her ex see her moving on with a sexy South African soccer player is the best form of payback (her ex doesn’t need to know it’s just a one-night stand). What she doesn’t expect are the feelings that being with Roan DeWalt elicits in her. He makes her feel sexy, desirable, and stronger than she’s ever felt which is why she can’t follow through with her plan to share the visual evidence of their night together. But that doesn’t mean she can’t use it for her own personal enjoyment. Two years later Allie’s job brings her back to town and back into Roan’s life. Roan has also spent the last few years remembering his night with Allie so he’s not about to let her get away again. Their chemistry is as hot as ever but despite how close they’ve become, Roan has no idea of the secret that Allie is keeping about their first night together. Will Allie’s original payback plan end up costing her everything or can she find a way to clean up her mess and keep the man of her dreams?
How exciting to be back in the Harris world! You can definitely read this book as a standalone but I think you’ll have even more fun if you’ve read the Harris brother books. This family is one of my all-time favorite book families so I’m very excited to see that Amy Daws has figured out a way to keep us in their world by featuring the extended Harris family. I loved seeing these crazy guys accepting another family member into their fold. They are fiercely loyal and love with everything they’ve got and they extended that to Allie as she moves to London on the heels of some big life changes. Any scene with a Harris brother in it is alright by me! That being said, this story was great even without the Harris brothers, they were just the icing on the cake! I loved Roan and Allie together, right from their first night together and then seeing them reconnect after a few years. The secret Allie’s been keeping about their first night was a pretty big one and it was fun guessing how and when that would come out. I thought the fallout from that scenario was very well done, both Roan and Allie’s reactions were so believable. Roan was a pretty great hero, he was a hard worker and a really great guy, so I felt pretty bad for him when everything hits the fan. But I loved how everything wrapped up and the epilogue was so much fun! The perfect way to cap off this story! I hope that Amy Daws can continue to find ways to keep revisiting this world because I’ve come to love all these characters and even if they aren’t the stars anymore, any time I can spend with them is always a good time!
Oh my gosh! Allie Harris is actually one of my all time favourite women I have ever read about. I love her!
So, the moment I seen Amy reveal there was going to be a new Harris family book I was super excited and then I found out it was a Harris cousin and I was intrigued. I absolutely adore the Harris family so getting to know their cousin was really quite exciting. I knew it was going to be amazing, I knew it was going to captivate me but what I didn’t expect was how freaking incredible this book was going to be and I’m in awe right now, just wow.
Allie Harris is trying to overcome a bad break up by having a fun, sexy night with a stranger for payback but what she didn’t expect is the repercussions that could possibly follow that payback. We all expected something to happen, what we didn’t expect was the amount of feelings that we would endure.
Roan DeWalt I didn’t expect to fall for him as much as I did but his charm and his devotion and the fierce way he loves the ones closest to him had me melting into a puddle. That guy is everything you hope for in a man and extremely good under the sheets. What an absolute charmer.
Watching these two from the very first meet has been scorching hot, the chemistry between these two is off the charts. They work so well together and damn, I’m in love with these two, yes, yes I am!
Amy Daws NEVER fails to blow me away with her Harris family, their stories just get better and better. The Harris family will forever be stuck in my heart, they’re the kind of people once can never forget and I’m forever thankful to Amy for bringing these characters to life.
Payback is fun, extremely sexy with a dash of heartbreak. This book was capture you from the beginning and hold you hostage until the end. It’s a book you 100% NEED to have on your kindle and is without a doubt one of the best reads of 2019 hands down.
NO SPOILERS!
I absolutely loved, loved, LOVED Payback! Amy Daws completely exceeded my expectations with this sexy, funny, and swoon-worthy Harris Brothers Family spin-off standalone sports romance, and I couldn’t have loved it more! The storyline and characters completely won my heart, and I adored Amy’s writing style and sense of humor. She always goes above and beyond with every new release, and dare I say that Payback has been her BEST novel to date!
The storyline was fan-freaking-tastic. I loved the plot for Payback and was highly entertained from beginning to end. Roan and Allie’s love story was a fun, sexy, hilarious, and epic ride that I won’t soon forget. It was truly one of Amy Daws’s best works to date, and I was absolutely ecstatic with the conclusion to Roan and Allie’s story. It was beyond epic, and I couldn’t have been happier for them.
The characters were my absolute favorite part. Roan, Allie, and the entire Harris family won my heart, and I loved each and every one of them. Even though Payback was a standalone spin-off to the Harris Brothers series, and you didn’t have to read them in order to understand this one, I would highly recommend you read them anyway. You absolutely don’t want to miss out on these amazing and unforgettable characters and stories. Roan and Allie have been two of my favorite characters that Amy Daws has written so far, and I loved their personalities and smoking hot chemistry together, as well as how most of their relationship progressed throughout. I loved reading the book from both Roan and Allie’s point of view, and most of their banter and interactions with each other. There were some rocky moments, but overall, it ended better than I ever could’ve hoped. Roan and Allie were incredibly special, and their love story is not to be missed.
Payback was a sexy, funny, swoon-worthy, and entertaining MUST READ standalone sports romance from Amy Daws, and I would HIGHLY recommend it and the entire Harris Brothers series! Amy Daws truly outdid herself with Roan and Allie’s love story, and I can’t wait to devour more of her sexy, swoon-worthy, and delicious romances!
4.5 Swoony Roan Stars!
Wow, I thought it was over and then Daws brings back the Harris family and completely blows me away! This time we have a long lost cousin who had to move to America when she was young. Allie Harris visits London to attend a family wedding and Vi sets her up with a very sexy teammate of Tanners for her date. Allie isn’t in a good head after having her trust and heart broken by the two people she was closest to. She wants to use Roan for some payback with a night of passion. But when she leaves, she realizes that Roan gave her more intimacy and connection in one night than she has had in her whole life. Roan broke all his rules for Allie and was devastated when she left without a word. He has dreamed of their amazing night together for two years. Now Allie is back in London and he is determined to win her over. Allie is struggling with her attraction to Roan and the guilt of how she might have used him. Roan has his hands full with the quirky, sassy, Allie, trying to prove he worth the risk. But those over protective Harris brothers are not going to make it easy, and those fun and quirky Harris women have their own plans! I felt a connection to Roan and Allie immediately and loved them both. They had fun together, and had amazing chemistry that leaped right off the page. Allie frustrated me a bit, but I loved how strong she grew as she found her place in the world and in a family she had always wanted. Roan is so sweet, kind, loyal, and swoony! I loved how he held his own against the Harris clan, he was the perfect addition to the family! This is a beautiful story of forgiveness, redemption, family, and love. It was so raw, and poignant at times, but still had the signature funny Harris banter we love so much. The Harris’ just love to get all up in each others lives, cousins included, making this romance not only sweet & sexy, but heartwarming as well. The ending was so unique and perfect, it brought me to tears, made me laugh out loud, and had me totally swooning!
Allie Harris was wronged. No other way to say it, her ex cheated on her in the worst possible way. She wants one thing, payback. Her cousin sets her up with a hot soccer player when she comes to London for a quick trip. Why not use Roan to help her with this payback?!
Fast forward two years and the two are thrust back into each other’s lives. Neither have forgotten their shared night together, and Roan will do anything to revisit that night! As the two get to know each other and navigate through their feelings, the guilt from the secret that Allie has been keeping from their first night together starts eating at her.
One night changes the course of everything for Allie and Roan. One mistake changed the course that they were on. Can Roan ever forgive Allie? Or are they destined to be apart forever?
Amy Daws. Amy freaking Daws. This book, there aren’t enough words for me to describe how much I LOVED THIS BOOK!! I have read all of the previous Harris family books, and fell in love with this family. Payback just blew all of those books out of the water. Don’t get me wrong, the Harris family books are still some of my all-time favorite books, but there is just something about Roan and Allie that did it for me. I laughed so hard at certain points I had tears running down my cheeks. There were other moments where my heart was broken. The way that Amy writes and the way that she can intertwine all of these characters lives and stories into her books is simply amazing. This book is one of the best books Amy has ever written. I’m just hoping we get a few more out of her with these characters 😉
I will not cheat on Booker Harris.
I will not cheat on Booker Harris.
Well, shizzle! I totally cheated on Booker Harris! In my defense Amy Daws has written a captivating and unputdownable story with an absolutely mouthwatering hero that can’t be denied total fangirl devotion! At least not mine so here goes my attempt at a review which will most likely just be a complete fangirl moment. Brace yourselves…
Roan and Allie are ALL. THE. THINGS. They’re another fantastic, hilarious, and totally captivating Daws couple that I couldn’t help but fall in love with. I rode the roller coaster of feels with them and it was such an exhilarating ride! From belly laughs to tears, they were everything I could ask for in a hero and heroine. Not to mention the chemistry and sizzle between those two was off the charts hot and the banter between them was nothing short of outstanding. Which it always is in an Amy Daws novel. It was so easy to root for them to get their HEA from the very beginning and can I just say the glimpses of the Harris family made this OG Harris Ho so freaking happy! It was the cherry on top of the delicious Payback cake. “I can’t count that high” stars.
Ps. I cannot wait for the audiobook although it might freaking kill me. It’s okay though because I will go out happy. My husband and kids will understand.
5 “Real or Fake” stars
Amy Daws is back with another Harris book… not a brother this time but a cousin! You can’t even imagine how excited I was before reading Payback! I dreamt for another book in the Harris brothers world and she made this wish come true! Thank you Amy
In true Amy’s style, Roan & Allie’s story caught me right away! There’s not a minute I didn’t want to take the book, keep reading and forget about reality. Roan & Allie are like the yin and the yang. They are quite opposite to each other but they complete one another fantastically! Their chemistry was instant; the attraction is off the charts and their banter was so funny! I was rooting for them right away! The path to HEA is not an easy one, the major problem was the payback Allie put in place but Amy Daws manage to make one of my pet peeves when reading into something truly emotional and beautiful.
As I turned the pages, Roan and Allie constantly captured my heart. The place of the family is an important part of the book. Where do you belong? What it means to be part of family. The Harris brothers are close and it was pure joy to be in their close circle. The famous Harris Shakedown is back and I really hope we are not done with all of them yet! I never want to say goodbye to this incredible bunch of guys and the family they create.
Payback was everything I didn’t know I needed! I didn’t read the blurb, I went in blind because I trust Amy with all my heart. I know she’ll embark me in a fantastic journey filled with joy, pain but mostly love.
I know this is a spin off series of the Harris Brothers, and yep you don’t need to have read the Harris Brothers, but I’ll tell you now, the story was so much sweeter because I have read the Harris Brothers. Anyway. I digress, this is not a story about them (although they play a big part in it), this is a story about their cousin Allie, and the hot South African football (soccer) player she has rebound sex with, Roan DeWalt, and do you know what? He may possibly be my favourite character of Amy’s yet. He’s kind, caring, considerate and sexy as all hell. He loves his mother and sisters back home in South Africa and everything he does he does for them. When he reconnects with Allie after 2 years he’s after more, he is willing to put himself out there and face off with her (very intimidating) cousins, because he know she’s worth it. Allie on the other hand is holding back, with good reason I might add, because yes, she feels guilty, guilty about what she did that night, but all she has to do is delete that pesky video, right? She should never have taken it in the first place, she knows that, and when things start heating up with her and Roan, her guilt intensifies. Can she put it all behind her and embrace this good thing between them? So much romance, so much fun time (laugh a minute at times), passion, emotion and family drama. All my favourite things between these pages. I laughed, I cried, I screamed at my kindle. For all the Harris Brothers fans out there, this is the perfect fix. Amy Daws, I want more. Keep ‘em coming. I received an advanced copy of this book from the author. This is my honest review.
