5 Real & Home Stars!!
I had a total fangirl moment when Payback landed on my Kindle! I’ve been counting down the days for this book and couldn’t wait to start it! Ms.Daws has done it once again! I loved this book so much! There were so many points where I laughed out loud and hugged my kindle close.
Allie and Roan’s story was every bit memorable and one of a kind! I enjoyed how these two made me blush, grin, get teary eyed, and crack up! Their journey wasn’t easy and I found so much beauty in their realness.
The Harris family have owned a big piece of my heart from the moment that I read Challenge. Getting to jump back into this world and see some of my favorite characters made me so happy! So glad that I get to add Allie and Roan to my favorites list!
*I volunteered to read and review a Copy of this book from the author*
This book was utter perfection! It was everything I could have hoped for and more. I fell in love with Roan throughout the glimpses we received of him in the other Harris books and I knew I wanted more of the delicious South African soccer star.
This book above and beyond exceeded any expectations I had. From the Harris family dynamic; to Allie Harris and all of her strong will and vulnerability; to Roan DeWalt and his charming personality and gentlemanly manner, family love, and passion for the game of soccer. This book made me laugh, gasp, cry, and smile. It made me want to be a part of this story, be a part of this chaotic loving family.
Allie is such a strong woman despite everything that happened. And while she has a vulnerability to her, and she might not always see her strength, she has loving family surrounding her to remind her just how wonderful she is. A family that would walk through fire to protect one of their own.
And Roan, my goodness, this charismatic, charming, gentleman. This athletic god that treats people with respect, who loves his family deeply, and has a drive and passion for soccer, life and love. And his love for Allie Harris is stronger than it all.
Together Allie and Roan make my heart soar, they make me smile and they bring this story to life. From beginning to end I loved this story, through all of the laughs and smiles, and all of the tears and sorrows. Roan and Allie’s love story may not be perfect, but together they make perfection because there is nothing that could keep them apart and from loving one another whole-heartedly.
A massive 5 stars! If I could give it more I would because I love this story immensely.
I say after every one of the Harris brother books that “this is my favorite” . ..but this one is definitely my favorite….Roan and “Lis” are magical…a wonderful story…
Payback by Amy Daws a five-star read you would give anything for. Allie Harris you little devil, after her little mishap you really should think terrible things about her, but she just has this amazing way of getting under your skin and making you want to forgive her for anything. She really is a true Harris, and she does them proud in every way. Roan, Roan, Roan you just make me melt, you must really come with a warning, and that warning should say ‘Honorary Harris Ho’.
Y’all its another Harris book and it does not disappoint. Allie is a cousin but boy does she fit right into the fold when she shows up for a wedding just weeks after catching her boyfriend with her stepsister. Y’all she is a hot mess express who wants revenge. Goodness can I please have a Roan he is so sweet and such a all around good guy. These two have a chemistry thats amazing and will keep you on your toes. I still can’t believe everything that happened. Cant wait to see what’s next.
I am so excited to have been able to read and love Allie and Roan’s story! Payback is a spin off from the Harris Brothers and fear not you will get a fabulously funny supportive dose of them as they take Allie (their cousin from across the pond) under their wing. Roan is a team mate of the Harris brothers and is selected by Vi to accompany Allie to a family wedding.
When Allie meets Roan the night of the wedding she is immediately attracted to him and the way he looks at her makes her feel like a woman again Allie coming off a very bad breakup propositions Roan for a one night stand. He so knows that this is terribly bad idea an may certainly come back and bite him in the Bum but he is so captivated with her and the sparks are amazing that he gives in to the night and Allie . We now flash forward and they are once again near one another . The chemistry they felt was not imagined two years ago and now it is time to convince Allie that this is a great idea . Although Allie is hiding a bit of a secret and now she may just have a bit of trouble controlling it !!
I loved their story . They are sexy, sweet and oh so funny. Roan is certainly swoon worthy and the amazing cast of characters was a joy to read and enjoy!!!!

So, Booker and Gareth are still my fave Harris Brothers, but Roan is definitely my fave Bethnal Green F.C. player. From his love for his mother and sisters, to his proficiency in ballroom dancing, and bravery in the face of an epic Harris Shakedown – he is EVERYTHING. In fact, I’m not sure Allie deserves him, but he wants her so I’ll allow it (lol!). I did really like Allie too, from the moment we meet her and get to know the emotional trauma she just experienced to learning more about her background with her mom, dad, and stepsister, it’s easy to sympathize with her and wish her well. I did take serious issue with her not being forthcoming about her revenge plot and I think that really kept me from liking her more than I did. Roan’s wooing and persistence and overall sexiness was the key to driving this particular vehicle for me – that and the Harris family and their adorable shenanigans. It was so good catching up with them and seeing them rally around Allie, who so desperately needed to know and feel that sort of familial affection. I sincerely hope that we get a story (it can even be a novella) about Mac and Freya. In fact, perhaps we can have a spinoff series about the players of Bethnal Green F.C. and the women they fall in love with! 5 out of 5 wine glasses.
4.5 Stars
Amy Daws is back with another Harris book – but this one the main character is their female cousin!! If you have never read any of her Harris Brothers books, do not worry, this one can be read as a complete standalone. But you do get glimpses of the Harris brothers, which will just have you wanting to go read their books next.
The blurb for this book is pretty much all you need to know going into this book. If I tell you any other tidbits of the plot, I would be pretty much surmising the book for you and that is just not cool.
I love the way Amy brings life to her stories. Amy’s characters are always relatable and real. I love how we see growth in Allie and how she handles herself. Roan is just WOW. That man is definitely one-of-a-kind. His pursuit of Allie and how he treats her is just out-of-this-world amazing.
I loved so much about this book. I laughed, a lot, and even teared up a bit. I know that with every book that Amy writes, I am going to be living in the characters’ shoes and I love that. It makes the book that more authentic and real.
I highly recommend Payback – whether it be your first Amy Daws book, your first Harris Brothers read or a continued fan of of Amy’s – you will enjoy this book so much.
The ultimate payback, when you’re not in your right mind. Just don’t do it. That’s the war you’re having in your brain. But what happens when things get back to a new normal and he is the epitamy of everything you didn’t know you wanted and needed?… Read to find out if it all just explodes in your face or if there can be a HEA.
I’ve loved Roan DeWalt when we’ve seen glimpses of him in pervious books, and finally he gets his own book along with Alice Harris (aka Allie), cousin to the Harris clan. If you’ve not read any others of the Harris Brothers books, then this is definitely a complete standalone, however you’ll definitely want to go back and read all the stories…!
From Allie trying to payback those who have burnt her, to present day moving on with her life. She’s back in London and moving on with her life. This story is filled full of self-discovery, getting over your past, sadness, happiness, love and one of the most thoughtful, kind and caring heroes!! I fell in love with Roan, and the more of this story I read the more I loved Allie too.
Roan has a family back in South Africa that fully rely on him succeeding in his football career. He’s focussed and determined, knowing exactly what he wants out of his life… and the includes making Allie a permanent fixture. As Allie and Roan get to know each other more and more, will Allie finally give in to what she truly wants. And will her past come back to bite her?
With a story full of twists, surprises and filled with the usual Harris clan humour it had it all. It’s fun, sexy and a definite page-turner. I love how we see all of the Harris family come together, supporting each other, including Allie into their family. And not forgetting a famous Harris Shakedown!!
I’m a huge Amy Daws fan, but I was disappointed with this. To me, this book was such a cliche. I didn’t see or feel any chemistry between the main characters. Not one part of this story felt even a little bit original.
It was great to see what the Harris crew has been up to so there’s that.

Loved it !!
I love the Harris family !!
I’m so glad you wrote another book about them !!
Roan is HOT !!! I mean seriously people read this it’s absolutely fabulous!!
Another Harris gal. Yeah! Cousin, Allie, was raised in the US but after a terrible betrayal she flees to her homeland and the family she hasn’t seen in years. A devious plan for payback, a willing football hunk, and a newly confident Allie is a combo for disaster two years in the making. It’s no surprise where this storyline is going but it’s so much fun and so so sexy getting there. Roan is a wonderful, sexy hero and a boss in the bedroom. So perfect in his family first commitment and low key personality. No groupies or fast living for him. His pursuit of Allie was so sweet and swoon worthy. What was wrong with that girl? I really wasn’t getting her resistance based on her one fail at honesty but you have to admire her moral fortitude. Loved catching up with the crazy funny Harris family. And what a hoot Mac and Freya are. Can’t wait for their story. Love this author’s writing with her fabulous characters, great family and friends, funny bits and steamy romance. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC. 4.5 stars
I’m a true fan of this author. I’ve read all her books so I was super excited for this one because the Harris family is back plus new characters to love.
I’m about to be very picky and some readers will roll their eye at why this is annoying me but when Allie is speaking (she’s American) I feel like the writing should be in American English.
I know this is set in London and everyone is British to some sort but she’s American so her words should reflect that (and yes I know she was born there. Doesn’t matter).
Anyways… the story is fun. Allie and Roan are super cute together. Roan is not your typical football player which makes him even more dreamlike.
You get to see all your favorite characters from the other books throughout this story and see more of where their lives have gone.
This was a good conclusion to this family.
I have read all of the books in this series and was so happy to read this standalone but related novel, Payback! Allie Harris, our heroine, did not have the great track record dating and being married. I admired her self-respect right from the beginning and knew this girl was a fighter. And she is also one lucky lady because the saying is true, good things come to those who wait. Those good things come in hot and hunky and super talented (both on and off the field) pro-soccer player, Roan DeWalt.
What started as a one-night stand leads into a true relationship two-years later with all of the ups and downs, doubts and fears, laughter and heartache, that make this novel so worth the read. There is great character development and you will be totally invested in their lives and those of the Harris family. I laughed out loud many times and also silently cheered as I thought Roan was the perfect book boyfriend. He was loyal and true, humble and driven, thoughtful and sweet, all wrapped up in one yummy package.
I love learning something new when I read, and since Roan was from South Africa, I enjoyed learning about their traditions and culture. The story is also set in London and the writer made an effort to use spelling and terminology that they would use in Europe. These little details, plus all of the antics and just getting caught up with all of the Harris siblings and their dad, and how she had to mend fences with her own father which was very emotional at times, made this a five-star read for me!
I love a book where there is honest communication and forgiveness and when love is victorious. I finished the book with an ear-to-ear grin so happy to have had shared in their journey with them.
Was very excited to hear there was going to be another addition to the Harris family and Amy Daws certainly didn’t let us down with this beauty.
It was fun catching up with the Harris’s, it kept me thoroughly entertained throughout and didn’t want it to end. This is one hell of a must read. Its beautifully written with Amy’s trademark wit and entertainment mixed with romance, heartbreak and lots of emotions.
Roan is a sexy South African football player and when he meets Allie the chemistry is off the charts hot and the sexual tension is palpable. He is totally swoon-worthy, he is the type of guy you dream of. So trustworthy and loves fiercely.
Allie is slightly crazy when we meet her after a bad breakup, she is out for payback but when she meets Roan her plans change. She wants to have a one night stand and make a teaser on how hot it was but ends up making a sex tape. Roan ends up featuring on it without knowing. I was seriously rooting for Roan and Allie from the beginning.
Allie came to London for payback and after one night of pleasure she went back home for more betrayal and lies. Years later she returns to London to escape the betrayal of the one man she thought would always be there for her. She runs into Roan the man she used for payback, can she keep things strictly business or will Roan finally get what he wants… What happens when Allie’s past comes back to ruin the new life she is building. One thing her tormentor doesn’t know is you never underestimate the Harris family. Wow, I loved this book and the story brought me to tears. I do love that Harris family and all the members. I am so glad that Amy Daws gave us another slice of the Harris family and I truly hope it isn’t the last glimpse of them. Highly recommend!!!
HOLY HELL!!! What a sexy fun read. AND we get more Harris Brothers!!!
I was ecstatic when Payback landed on eReader. Payback is about the Harris Brother’s cousin Alice and her plan for a Payback toward her step-sister and ex-boyfriend. When she goes on a blind date with the sexy Roan, a footballer who plays for her uncle team, he seems like the perfect person to help her act on her revenge.
This story was fun and steamy hot. ROAN – *Fanning myself* Boy oh Boy, this man is romantic and persistent in his pursuit of Alice… the woman who bears a huge secret that Roan can NOT find out about.
We get tons of the Boys and Vi in the book too – which is the greatest. No worries if you haven’t read the Harris Brothers Series – as this book can be read as a standalone but I guarantee you will definitely want to read them all after reading Payback. Sidebar… PLEASE LET THERE BE A BOOK FOR MAC and FREYA!!
Where do I start !!! Well I guess it’s with I absolutely adored Payback I was captivated from the first page to the last line. Payback is a spin-off from the Harris Brothers but what we got in this book was not only new characters but also a chance to catch up with the loveable brothers.
Allie Harris is the cousin who has spent most of her life in the States but she is back in London for a family wedding and she is paired up with Roan DeWalt a team mate of one of the brothers, they were meant to just have some fun at the wedding but it turns into a night of steamy passion. For Allie it was meant to help get her over her cheating ex but it turns into so much more when Allie finds herself working in London as a PR rep for the football team her uncle manages and who Roan plays for. Can Roan convince Allie to take a chance on another relationship…..
Payback ticked all the boxes for me, I swooned, I laughed and at times I held my breathe in anticipation of what would happen next and once you add in the hot Harris Brothers and their partners you get one of the best books I have read this year. Roan is everything I love in a man he loves unconditionally and he cares about family and that’s a big plus with the Harris clan. I loved seeing Allie come into her own as this story unfolded and I guess all that’s left for me to say is you need to one click Payback it’s a must read !!!
More Harris brothers. I was excited to learn that another book Harris Brothers series was being released. Right from the first page all the way to the last, this was a non-stop book of ups and downs and if you have read the prior books in the series, you know how crazy those things are. I will also like to state that while this book can be read as a stand alone, I would not recommend reading it without having read the other books or you will have a bunch of spoilers. So if you are not interested in reading the other books, then no issue otherwise be warned there will be spoilers to what is going on with Vi, Tanner, Camden, Booker and Garth.
Allie Harris may only be a cousin to the those just mentioned but this siblings bring her into the fold and show her what family is all about. Family for Allie is different than her cousins especially living in the US and not London so moving to London was a major change.
Roan DeWalt is a dedicated player and keeps his nose clean as he has too much riding on his career. Doing a simple favor in escorting Allie to a wedding didn’t realize how it was going to change his life.
I really enjoyed the interactions between Roan and Allie and having all the Harris family together. It was great catching up with them all and going through the struggles that Allie and Roan had going on. The author did a great job in writing that you really feel like you are a part of this group of people and I really hope that she finds a way to have another book in this series.
