ALLIE HARRIS WANTS PAYBACK. Her cheating ex deserves to see her living her best life; a one-night-stand with a hot South African soccer player would be the perfect revenge. Right? Wrong. Allie is so, so wrong. ROAN DEWALT HAS ALL THE MOVES. On and off the field he’s at the top of his game. Roan respects hard-work, dedication—and follow through. He’s not a one and done kind of man, and he’s far … kind of man, and he’s far from being done with Allie Harris.
One sexy night and two years later, Allie’s job brings her back to town. An opportunity for the perfect replay Roan has been fantasizing about since they slept together.
THE PROBLEM?
Allie Harris has a secret; one she’s been keeping from Roan all this time. Video proof of their one night together—taken without his consent.
Will Allie’s payback plan come back to bite them both? Or can she erase her past mistake and embrace a new future with Roan?

This was a pretty good story but there were parts that were sort of predictable. Alice flies to London for a family wedding after finding her boyfriend and her step-sister/roommate/best friend in bed together (her bed). So she is determined to have a one night stand and she wants to get back at the ex by filming the beginning striptease part between her and the guy to make the ex jealous.
However, when she tries to hit the stop recording button, it doesn’t stop and she gets the entire experience on film. Fast forward two years later and Alice moves to London and sees her One night stand, Roan again. He still plays for the professional soccer (or as the English say “football”) team that her Uncle coaches and Cousin plays for. She has kept the video on her phone and watches it often but feels guilty about it when she starts dating Roan. Especially since he has a very good reputation and something like that coming out could ruin him.
The book is good, but you can see exactly where this is going even after she deletes the video. Though like me, you have to read the book to find out more. The romance between Roan and Alice is good though a bit tame. Her family is pretty funny. I laughed out loud a few times throughout the book.
Move over Harris’ boys (not my Clarke man though) because there is another football star headed our way, and he is sure going to give you a run for your money!
We have quickly met sexy Roan DeWalt in the Surrender/Dominate books, and boy oh boy was I excited when this pretty arrived on my Kindle.
Is pretty the right word? No, actually I think #sexyarmporn is the word I was looking for hahahq!
I was sad when the Harris brothers series came to an end – I mean, really, how was I ever going to get more of My Hayden (who isn’t a Harris btw but a Clarke!).
Then Ms Daws announced this spin off series, which has just enough of the Harris brothers, but now widening the scope and having a Harris cousin!
I didn’t read the original short story that had our sexy South African and Allie Harris – however that does not matter, as it is all covered in this story.
Oh how does that Roan make me swoon! Seriously swoon. I don’t want to give anything away. however this man, from the minute I met him was just everything.
I loved seeing the personal growth in Allie as the story progresses. She was so down on herself and her family at first, but watching her grow to realise that it is not her, it is them that are the ones not worthy made me smile.
I also love love loved seeing the man that Vaughn Harris has become since the beginning of the Harris Brothers series, and in particular Surrender/Dominate.
Sigh, I was in a quandry with this book. I wanted to devour it, needing to know what would happen next, however I wanted to savour it, as I love all of Amy Daws’ words.
Now I just hope she doesn’t keep me waiting for ever for more words. Is it time for Sedate With Me yet??
Roan DeWalt is everything!!!
I loved this book so much, Roan and Allie are so perfect. They feel real. Plus it’s always good to catch up with the Harris clan.
Do yourself a favour, and read this book today.
New one night stand sports romance from Amy Daws!
Wow!! It’s hard to get a 5 star review from me, but Amy Daws did it splendidly with Payback! Roan DeWalt is something else. He’s more than book boyfriend material and he can call me “mooi” anytime! I love Allie Harris, cousin to the Harris clan. She wants to appear strong, but she’s insecure with her hidden emotions. Allie really shows all of us that everyone just wants to be loved. The way this story unfolds is epic. Allie and Roan teach us that love is enough to conquer any darkness.
Thank you, Amy Daws, for hours of reading delight. At the end I stood up and yelled, “GOAL!” 5 stars! I totally loved Payback!
Can you sympathize with a heroine that could singlehandedly bring down a Premier League footballer after one night together? You can, because Amy Daws has made you love her from the first page. Vulnerable, beautiful, skipping with joy Alice Harris is a heroine you will forgive anything.
Allie Harris is reeling from a horrid betrayal, fleeing Chicago to the open arms of her Harris cousins in London, and is balls to the wall determined to gain payback on the people who wronged her. Until she sets eyes on Roan DeWalt. Roan left everything behind in South Africa to take a chance playing alongside Tanner Harris in London for the Bethnal Green F.C. in London. He has a lot to lose, still supporting his family back home and trying to find a rhythm in this Harris dominated world of Premiere League football.
A Harris niece and a footballer, do you sense a Harris Shakedown on the horizon? You’d be right! It was a beautiful thing to see updates from all our favorite Harris clan! This was a great book and I loved every minute!
When you’re in Harris World it’s like going to Disney World it’s magical, thrilling, unexpected, and you never want to leave. You always want to come back for more. Well in this book we got way more and like the Tower of Terror and The Rocking Roller Coaster it left me breathless, excited, my heart palpitated and I wanted to get right back into the into the Harris World.
This book held my attention and my heart from the moment I opened the first page. I have never highlighted so much in a book as I did this one.
Yup, this book delivered as promised. It was like we never missed a beat in the world of the Harris’.
You know that moment when you close your eyes and pray that what’s coming isn’t coming because somehow what you’re reading just became real in your mind? Yeah, that’s this book. I had butterfly’s in my stomach, my throat tightened up and for a moment I closed my eyes and went, “NO”! Then opened my eyes and continued my journey with my friends. To me they are friends.
Seriously, I laughed out loud from the first chapter and my emotions never stopped evolving from one moment to the next. It was like a kaleidoscope how quickly my emotions changed.
Let me just say being with the all the Harris’ anytime is wonderful but what’s even better is that the story captivated me. I didn’t think the author could top Dominate but this book is every bit as good. That’s saying something because that was a masterpiece. I don’t know how the author creates warmth, comedy, tenderness, sexy, drama, great dialogue, and epic visual scenes that you think you’re witnessing in live action but she does. I am in awe.
Allie Harris slid into the Harris world like a puzzle piece. The perfectly flawed, messed up, lovely cousin looking for her place in life. Then we have Roan DeWalt who is totally unexpected. He brings to attention that first impressions aren’t always accurate and you can’t always believe what you see or what you think.
The author never cheats with her stories. She always gives you the good, the bad and the ugly. The situations are not consistently tied up in a neat little bow. You can identify with these characters. Never fear cause we still get all the Harris hijinks like the Bacon sandwich rule, a Harris shakedown that was epic, Sunday dinners and trips down memory lane that are pertinent to the story. Yet this is a total standalone. Trust me though, once you read this you will read the other Harris stories and probably the author’s whole catalogue.
I have quite a few favorite lines but I’ll just share two. One is in the first chapter, “Not today Satan, not today”! It made me laugh. Also, “You were my exception”. Awww…my heart
I was even treated to an education in South African vocabulary. So reading this book may up your I.Q.
There’s so much I want to talk about in detail about this book but I don’t want to spoil your enjoyment. This is a story you will be thinking about for days. It’s like having a movie you want to see over and over again. I know I will be rereading it. Yes, I am a fan of this author and all her works but there’s a reason for that, she’s amazing. Once again she didn’t disappoint. This book deserves all the stars. Bravo, Amy, Bravo.
Audio Review from September 2019
I listened to this not long after it came out and somehow missed rating and reviewing it!
The story was great, the narration team was fabulous!
Aaron Shedlock did this whole book in a soft South African accent and it was glorious!
Erin Mallon seriously never disappoints me!
Will Watt and Charlotte Cole come in as supporting roles for the original Harris family characters and they are fabulous
This awesome read sent my heart on a roller coaster ride filled with all the highs and lows that its well crafted, compelling blend of heart, drama, humor, sweetness, heat and poignancy can deliver. The chemistry and banter between Allie & Roan gives me the warm and fuzzies. And OH. MY. GOODNESS. was I surprised in the best way by the steam between them! Phew! I LOVE the Harris family. They banter, bicker & fight HARD but holy moly do they love even HARDER!! I alternated between reading & listening to this book. Erin Mallon, Aaron Shedlock, Charlotte Cole and Will Watt do an amazing job portraying the characters, bringing them to life and humanizing them with their emotions, attitude and personality. They do more than giving their characters their voices, they fall into the roles and become the character.
Another Harris member, this time Allie is in the limelight becuse of her sex tape blunder with Bethenel Green Player, Roan De Walt
It’s a sweet, funny story with the truckload of Harris clan.in fact the focus often shifts from main couple to the crowd around them. Even when on a date they’re talking about the Harris family, which was confusing and distracting for me
But I enjoyed the audio book and you would too
4 stars for Bokkie and his Moye
Amy Daws does it again! There are some fabulous, laugh-out-loud moments in this spinoff to her popular Harris Brothers series. Roan Dewalt is surprising; the glimpses of him in previous books didn’t give a me a clear picture, and I went in here with no expectations of him other than ‘hot footballer’; so getting to know him through his own story was a great and he was a H who surprised me in a lot of ways. It was fun to get to know Allie Harris, too; one of my favorite aspects of this book, was that the conflict arose from a choice she made and the topicality of the situation was really well done. The one weakness was that the character who exploits Allie’s choice was a bit one note and flat, so the ensuing chain of events and the ‘resolution’ were a bit rushed. Still, this is a very minor flaw and takes very little away from the story as a whole. Highly recommend this one, for Amy Daws fans, old and new.
I loved this witty, sweet, and sassy love story. This is a great family and I loved reading all their stories. I recommend this book and author.
So much drama. Lol. Love the Harris clan. So much love and theatrics. Roan is so swoon worthy with his looks, kick ass job and just all around gentlemanly ways that always have a dirty side behind closed doors. They were perfect for one another. Helping each other to open up and be themselves.
Rosalie is a completely evil person and I just wish more was explained about the legal action or that she was plastered in the media as the evil doer. Cause she deserves all the bad karma she gets. Love all the family stories and spin offs.
Roan is sooooo swoon worthy! Allie and Roan were just great together. I seriously couldn’t stand Allie’s sister, but I sure was understanding both of their povs. This is my first Harris brother book I’ve read and the family dynamics were pretty funny at times.
The Multi-Cast narration I really enjoyed. I highly recommend this book as an audio. Aaron Shedlock and Erin Mallon were the perfect cast for Allie and Roan. Will Watt, Charlotte Cole did a great job of the supporting cast.
I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
I was so excited to see that there was another book in this series!! I thought it stopped at 5!! It was not a Harris brother, but it was a Harris cousin! Payback was the 6th book in Amy’s Harris Brothers Series. It was completely swoonworthy, sexy, and hot!!
When Allie caught her boyfriend cheating, she wanted revenge. She thought sending a sexy video to him would make home jealous. Little did she know, her little video might have just ruined her future.
Roan was in the zone and because of that he didn’t do one night stands, and certainly Allie proved that. After two years he still couldn’t stop thinking about her. When she came back into his life, would she be as amazing as he remembered?
I loved getting to see all the crazy Harris Brothers protect Allie like she was one of them. This book had so many emotions, from swooning to tears, I loved every minute! (I also loved to see we get one more book with these guys, even though it’s technically part of the series!)
As a self proclaimed accent whore, this audiobook was ear porn and a perpetual hit of ecstasy. I was giddy from the narrators, giddy from the romance, and giddy from the naughty fun. Amy Daws has a winning team of narrators and footballers!
i am ashamed to admit I own the Harris brothers ebooks and audiobooks but have never actually listen/read them. i saw the hubbub when Amy released Payback on audiobook and shamelessly one-clicked it because of the guaranteed accented hotties. Lol. I have zero shame. My husband (who is my own South American accented hottie( knows I’m a sucker for an accent. He actually laughed when I told him I was bought it for the accents. i AM SO GLAD I DID! THE HARRIS FAMILY ARE KEEPERS! (Okay, only one actually is a keeper but…Ignore my terrible pun)
I want to be adopted or absorbed into this family ASAP. i want this sense of family, community, and belonging. What a joy and what fun! This brand of crazy is exactly the puck me up everyone needs!
To crazy Brits, a big ole Scot, and a sexy South African who give us auralgasms and big @ss smiles!
Such a Cute, Unique Love Story!
This 4.5 star book has me feeling happy and light. Not only did I enjoy the continuation of the side characters from their previous books, but Allie and Roan have an explosive start to their love story.
Allie has come a long way in the two years since she was last in London and Roan is helping build that wonderful, strong woman. When Roan wants to build a relationship with Allie, she learns about herself and grows a family in the process with being back in London.
Roan is a teammate of Tanner and Booker Harris and has to prove himself to Allie’s cousins after being pushed together several times. Roan doesn’t step down and take the easy way, he goes the hard way and they end up with an epic love story.
If you’ve gone the journey of all of these characters, you not want to miss this amazing love story! And if you haven’t? You still should pick it up, you won’t be lost… only lost in love!
Another fantastic story by Any Daws. This was a fun, entertaining, and sweet journey to go on with Ally and Roan. I enjoyed every single witty and adorable moment of this story.
I have just recently become a huge Amy Daws fan and after this book it just reaffirms why I love her books so much. Payback has everything a good love story needs; sexy hook-up, angst, drama, lots & lots of sex and a HEA. Payback was beyond good and I highly recommend anyone who loves an awesome romance to read/listen to this book.
I had the Audio book version so now on to the narrator’s, I can’t even begin to tell how good each narrator was at portraying their character. They were all amazing and I will be happy to listen to many more books read by any of the narrator’s from this book.
Oh was this a fun one, I give it 4.5 stars! Revenge, Humor, heartbreak, love, hotness. All packed in this wonderful book.
The characters were very enjoyable, this is a continuation of the Harris Brothers Series yet I started reading just this one since I found it free.
I do not feel like I missed out at all. I feel like I got to know all the characters well and a chance to fall in love with them all. At first a little confusing keeping straight which brother is with which woman and their children but didn’t stop me from enjoying this.
This does make me want to pick up the next book but not enough to go back and read the Harris Brothers on their back stories. I’m sure they are great but I feel like I already know their endings now it makes hard to go back and read what they go through in the beginning.
Really an enjoyable book overall. Great HEA!
