Not all secrets are meant to be kept. After two stressful months, Amber Blackwood is determined to have a few weeks of peace before the Here and Meow Festival descends on her small town of Edgehill, Oregon. That peace doesn’t last long; when she and the committee attend a meeting at the mayor’s house, Amber is pulled aside by the mayor’s daughter, Chloe, who Amber babysat for in high school. The … in high school. The mayor has forbidden Chloe from dating, but she recently met an older boy through a chat app and is desperate to meet him. Amber advises Chloe to tell her father about the boy.
Hours later, Mayor Deidrick frantically puts in a call to Amber: Chloe, the always well-behaved teenager, seems to have snuck out her bedroom window—and now she’s not answering his calls. When Amber helps search the town for the girl, she happens upon Chloe’s abandoned car. Her driver’s side door is open, and while her purse is inside, her phone is gone.
Working alongside Chief Brown, Amber uses her magic to figure out what might have happened to Chloe. The more they dig, the more they unearth secrets from the seemingly affable mayor’s past. The charismatic politician has both a hair-trigger temper and a suspicious death linked to his past.
As if the mayor’s increasingly strange behavior isn’t bad enough, Amber and the chief also contend with an out-of-town private investigator, nosy reporter Connor Declan, and an even nosier population of Edgehill residents who start to question why Amber and the chief are spending so much time together. Undaunted by these obstacles, Amber races against the clock to help ensure Chloe doesn’t become another statistic—assuming the mayor doesn’t stop her first.

Pawsitively Secretive by Melissa Erin Jackson is a wonderful story to read. This is book number three writen by a brand new author for me to read and I am so in love with them. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about fantasy and cozy mysteries.

When the Mayor’s daughter disappears Amber tries to help find her. The balance of keeping her secret and helping to solve the kidnapping.
In the third book in the witchy cozy mystery series, Edgehill Witch series, the quirky town characters need to come together to find one of their own, the characters grow and develop ass the series continues. The narrative gives insight into Amber’s feelings, fears, motivations and actions. The storyline runs smoothly and quickly filled with the mystery, personal and small town drama. The mystery has lots of suspects, great clues, danger, action and suspense. The dialogue was interesting and witty. I enjoyed how her secret life was handled and the consequences of non witches knowing about magic. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
I adore these books, and this story wasn’t the exception, it’s really easy to listen, fast paced, good storyline which kept my interest throughout it, it’s light and funny.
Amber is a great character and I like seeing how she grows more confident with her magic with each book. All the characters are great, I really like the “friendship” that is forming between the chief and Amber, they’re so funny together. Edgar is another character that I want to see more of, now that he’s letting Amber “drag” him out of his house I want to see what’s in store for him.
And OMG Jack remembers everything that happened, I was so excited, but also weary, I need to know what will happen with him and Amber….
The narration was perfect, I really love Victoria Villarreal performance, is pretty awesome.
This review is for the audio book.
I really enjoyed this book. This is the third book in this Great series and even though there are stand alone books I would recommend that you listen to them all because they are fun and you are missing out on a real treat otherwise. I like the characters and the fact that only one person in the small town knows her secret and the problems it causes or leads to. The author has a great imagination and this is show cased in the town with all the cat names for the shops but and she describes the the town and characters so well that you feel like you are there too and with it being a small town we have meet several of the characters in the previous book, which makes them feel like old friends. The mystery was good and I liked it the way it kept you guessing and the use of the magic was fun and I agree with the main character that they should have there own tv show. I am looking forward to the next book.
While planning the biggest event of the year that the town holds The Here and Meow festival, Amber is pulled to.the side and asked for advice about dating by the girl she use to babysit for, who also happens to be the only daughter of the town’s mayor. That night she receives a frantic phone call from the father. The father daughter talk Amber encouraged didn’t go well and the teenage girl has climb out the window and disappeared. When the storm blows over and she still hasn’t turned up the mayor rallies the town in a search for her. Amber and police chief Brown start with the abandoned car and with the use of magic find a startling discovery, her cell phone tells it own story. The Mayor they all through they new disappears and revels a new side to the man. Is it just worry over his daughter or is the rumours about his dead wife true? Did his daughter have reasons to fear him? And what about the private investigator that is paying a little bit to much attention to Amber? Who hired him? And why is he really at Edgehill? Amber will have to work hard to keep her secrets quiet, while uncovering some else’s. It the answer for the girls disappearance connected to the past or with the dating app she used? The festival must go on but will Amber find the missing girl before she has to pretend to enjoy the festivities and competitions the town has planned.
I liked the narrator and thought she did a good job with bringing the story to life and each character has there own unique voice.
Pawsitively Secretive is the third book in Melissa Erin Jackson’s Witch of Edgehill series and just like the 2 previous ones I absolutely adored this one.
The adventures of Amber Blackwood continues! It’s so exciting to watch as Amber continues to explore her magic while trying to lead a normal life, well normalish.
She uses her magic this time to help the chief of police find the mayor’s daughter. While she does that she finds time to help organise the Here and Meow Festival and tries to avoid Jack Terrence as well. She has her work cut out for her, that’s for sure.
I love Amber and the other characters better each time a new book comes out.
The Witch of Edgehill series became one of my favourite books this year and I will read the next ones surely.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy.
This is such a fun series! Amber has me laughing at how she keeps freaking out the Chief with her magic. So many secrets are unearthed in this book, even one that is 17 years old!

What a darling book!! I loved the town of Edgehill. I love cats, so a town also in love with cats was soo fun. With street names like Russian Blue Avenue, Korat Road, Blue Point Lane and businesses like Manx Hotel, Purrcolate, Clawsome Coffee, Purrfectly Scrumptions, Catty Melt, Quirky Whisker, Sippin’ Siamese, what’s not to love. The characters are fun as well. Amber is a witch, but is careful to keep it a secret. Only the Chief of Police knows.
When the mayor’s daughter turns up missing, Amber does everything she can to help find the teenager. She uses memory spells, truth spells, and other skills to help. This is not the first book in the series, but I had no trouble understanding the history and how all the characters fit into the story. I definitely would love to read the previous books.
Thanks to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read a new author and offer my honest opinion.
This is the first book I have read in this series. It is a stand-alone although there have been obvious things that happened in the past. Amber Blackwood is a witch. She’s not very experienced but has found it is useful in finding things besides her cell phone. A teenager, Chloe, who Amber used to babysit is in danger. Chloe has been talking online with a boy who she wants to meet; however, her dad prohibits dating. When Chloe disappears, Amber becomes involved helping the police find Chloe and discover why she went missing.
Great story. Love the characters. Will definitely read more of this series!
Pawsitively Secretive is a well written book filled with secrets from several characters and magic. The plot of the story has kept me intrigued to the very end. Reading the next book is a must.

I have read the first two books in this series, and the end of the last one nearly did me in because of a sad part. Well, the start of this one made me forget about it because it drew me in right away. Poor Amber is still recovering from the events of the last book when a teen is kidnapped, and she is one of the last to have talked to her. Now, she’s racing time to save her. I just love this series. It is pretty much a cozy series, but it is a little more serious. The characters are all fun and have unique personalities, and the end (not of the kidnapping) I kinda saw coming, but I was still shocked. This the best book so far, and I’m really looking forward to the next. This is a well-written, interesting mystery series, and you have to try it. Highly recommend! I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
Edgehill is a small town with a hidden population of witches and Amber is one of them.
The town is a little unusual in their love of cats and has lots of quirky characters.
In the third book we see how the gossip is treating Amber and the sheriff, when they work together, but again, the situation demands that they co-operate, as the mayor’s daughter goes missing.
Another cozy mystery from Edgehill with Amber at the centre of the story. Although the story is the third in the series, one can start reading from here, as Ms. Jackson gives adequate information to be able to follow the story.
Fun to read and well-written.

Amber gets pulled into helping the Police Chief search for as missing girl, the Mayors daughter. Amber uses her witchy powers to help the investigation and they find a few secrets the Mayor would rather stay hidden and have to combat the rumor mill along the way. This is a part of a series so as always probbly best if you read them all in order but not completely needed.

There are not enough stars on the board for me to accurately review this book, I do not want to just type out a synopsis of the book, that is the author’s job, I want to make you understand how good this book is, I want to shake you by the collar and demand you read it, and see for yourself how good it is!
The story line pulls you in and you do not want to put it down till you have finished. Then you are sad that the book is finished!
I think that is a good way to rate a book, if you find yourself reading slower so the book will last longer you know it is a good one, as opposed to flicking through pages to get to the end or worse not caring enough to even finish! I can assure you this is one you will want to read slowly and enjoy.
The characters are so good, and so well written, I love the blossoming friendship between Amber and the people of the town, the small hints with Chief Brown, the quirk of a smile, or the stink eye of Dolores the police station receptionist as she clacks away at her typewriter. The frantic energy of Kim, as the pressure of the Hair Ball builds.
The intensity of Mayor Deidrick as he tries to hold it together, whilst using all his resources to find his daughter Chloe who has gone missing
Amber using her gifts to work with Chief Brown but trying to not be seen working together, as to her horror it is causing gossip in the town.
There is a lot going on, but not in a bad way, you are on top of all the little tendrils of the story as they develop.
I had not read the previous books when I read Pawsitively Secretive.and I enjoyed it as a standalone. However I then went and read Pawsitively Poisonous and Pawsitively Cursed, and I am so glad I did,
there are subtleties in the book that having not read the previous books you would miss, a glance here a comment there, it really makes for a better experience!
I can only reiterate how much I enjoyed this and recommend it
Amber is concerned that Chloe is getting involved in an online relationship that Chloe is keeping from her Dad. Amber encourages her to let her Dad know about how she’s feeling. When Amber gets a call that Chloe is missing, she must brave town gossip, possible danger, and even self-doubt. I enjoyed the character development in this novel and will certainly read the next book in this series.

This series is so well-written and has such great characters (Amber is a really awesome character). This particular episode is near and dear to anyone who has a daughter who has snuck out to meet up with some boy. It is a nightmare. But then as they investigate in order to try to find her, her father the mayor, is the one one who turns up smelling bad. – go figure – a dirty politician, who would have thought it. Either way, this story is so good and I always look forward to the next book by this author.

The author has again given us the wonderful characters that make their home in Edgehill. The story has so many twists and turns that you cannot put the book down.
