First book in a completed series of five lighthearted, fast-paced, and twisty mysteries!Every town has its secrets, but no one has a secret like hers.
Amber Blackwood, lifelong resident of Edgehill, Oregon, has earned a reputation for being a semi-reclusive odd duck. Her store, The Quirky Whisker, is full of curiosities, from extremely potent sleepy teas and ever-burning candles to kids’ toys … sleepy teas and ever-burning candles to kids’ toys that seem to run endlessly without the aid of batteries. The people of Edgehill think of the Quirky Whisker as an integral part of their feline-obsessed town, but most give Amber herself a wide berth. Amber prefers it that way; it keeps her secret safe. But that secret is thrown into jeopardy when Amber’s friend Melanie is found dead, a vial of headache tonic from Amber’s store clutched in her hand.
Edgehill’s newest police chief has had it out for Amber since he arrived three years before. He can’t possibly know she’s a witch, but his suspicions about her odd store and even odder behavior have shot her to the top of his suspect list. When the Edgehill rumor mill finds out Melanie was poisoned, it’s not only the police chief who looks at Amber differently. Determined to both find justice for her friend and to clear her own name, Amber must use her unique gifts to help track down Melanie’s real killer. A quest that threatens much more than her secret …

This was such a fun mystery to listen to. I really liked the magical side to this and how she has to do it without anyone knowing what is going on. I was able to guess who the murderer was, but the way they found out was fun to listen to as it was happening. The narration in this book was done really well also. I will definitely be on the lookout for the next to come out.

This Witch cozy is very cute. The MC, Amber, is a witch who is an herbalist and creates unique toys using magic spells. Amber is a bit of a recluse – having to keep her witching abilities a secret. But, when suddenly her friend is found dead after imbibing one of Amber’s remedies, Amber pushes herself to investigate. I really liked the MC – she was likeable, relatable and I enjoyed how she gained self-confidence. There are some witty moments – such as the Police Chief believing that Amber was psychic – a relief for Amber.
Warning – while the story itself is complete, there is an epilogue cliffhanger.
The narrator, Victoria Villareal, was a bit of a detraction, for me. Her narration was a bit flat. She placed weird emphasis on words and her attempts to distinguish the characters ended up making them sound like they were from the south – although this story takes place in the Pacific Northwest.

This is the first book by this author that I have read or listened to but I really enjoyed it and I will definitely be looking out for more books in this series. I really liked the mystery and the sprinkling of magic made the story fun. If magic is not your thing then I think you should still give it a go because there was no cauldron casting spells, it more a suggestion of magic and just a few spoken words to tell the truth and not all of the spells worked as it should. The characters were fun but I did think at least one of the cats in the town would have given a helping hand or should I say paw. There was a good number of suspects and a few twists keeping it interesting.
Ambers best friend is sick and wanting to help her friend feel better, she gives her a headache tonic. The same visual of headache tonic is found gripped tightly in her cold dead hand. The police chief has never trusted Amber because strange things happen around her and now he had a very good reason to investigate her himself. Using her secret gift Amber learns that Melanie was poisoned and with everyone looking at her she decides she has to do something to find out what happened to her friend. The friend she is quickly learning that she didn’t really know. Things begin to look up for Amber when she is provided with an alibi but the Chief with no other suspects asks Amber if with her psychic powers she could lend a hand. Can Amber get to the bottom of the murder before the police chief learns her real powers?
I liked the narrator and even though a few of the voices were a bit high I thought she did a good job bringing the story to life.
Three and 1/2 stars. Absolutely charming, fun to read book. Witches, murder and a cliffhanger . Really great characters make one want to read more by this author

Pawsitively Poisonous is a a good read with cute characters and setting. The town of Edgehill is all about cats. Although the main character suffers a tragedy, she uses her skills as a witch to seek out information in order to solve the case. I believe that this book is going to lead to a good series.

I really enjoyed this book. I am a dog person but this book made me want a cat. I loved the fact that the whole town revolves around cats and the names of the businesses are quirky but cute. Also, the rivalry between the two towns is awesome! I can’t wait to see how this series comes along.

Amber is a witch in a small town, but she keeps her magic kind of quiet. Still, some people find her behaviour suspicious.
When Amber’s best friend Mel is found dead, the head of police makes her his first suspect, and not just because Mel holds a vial of something with her logo on it. Trying to clear her name she tries to find out who killed Mel.
An intriguing story with a few surprises mixed in that keep the reader interested in the story. Well-written and entertaining.

From what I read, this is Ms. Jackson’s first cozy mystery. It is fantastic! I was getting angry and also near tears, right along with Amber. Ms. Jackson also kept the mystery up, releasing a little at a time and the surprising the reader at the end. I loved it! I am looking very forward to the next book!

Amber Blackwood tries to keep a low-profile in her hometown of Edgehill. No one knows she is a witch and she would like to keep that secret to herself. When her friend Melanie is found dead, suspicions run to Amber as she was the last person to see her. When Amber receives an alibi for the time of the murder, the police chief is left with trying to decide who really killed Melanie.
Amber wants to find the murder of her friend as well and soon uncovers a number of secrets that Melanie was keeping. These secrets point to several new suspects that would have done anything including murder to keep them from coming out.
This is a well-written paranormal cozy mystery. It is filled with a few paranormal elements (magic), lots of interesting characters, mystery, suspense, and a lot of twists and turns which will keep you guessing as to whodunit.

I love this cozy series and I am thrilled about it being #1. I am hoping that means there will at least be a 2 because this is really good. Great characters, even the “bad” ones who can make you angry at them but still they are wonderful and the whole story is fun.

Amber’s life has definitely gotten complicated. The Chief is always suspicious of her animated toys and when her friend is poisoned, she is his main suspect. Her true friends rally around her, however, the killer is surely someone she knows. Pawsitively Poisonous is an entertaining mystery that I recommend.

First let me say, I have never read anything by this author. I was captured by the town and Amber right from the start. Who wouldn’t like a town with street names and business names having a cat theme. Amber is a witch, (a very private witch), she owns “The Quirky Whisker, a shop that sells many things, but her speciality would be the toys that she casts small spells on, enabling them to perform certain things that the kids love. Melanie, her friend, has been sick for weeks and visits the shop, requesting some headache tonic. Later on she is found dead with Amber’s vial clutched in her hand. Turns out she was poisoned. The sheriff doesn’t like Amber and wants to pin the murder on her, so what does she do? She sets out to find the real murderer. During her investigation she finds out things about Melanie, she had very serious secrets. Were they the reason she was murdered. Amber is determined to find out. I never guessed who the killer was. There was so much to this story, it kept me entertained from the first page to the last page. I am looking forward to book 2. If you like paranormal, murder and mystery, this is the book for you.

Great First of Series Witch Cozy
I love this book and am excited about the series. I read the first half of this book, spent 3 weeks in the hospital and continued reading after I returned home. I needed to re-read the last chapter that I had read, but the whole story came pouring back. This story has a great plot. It is over the top about cats in a very cute way. I can’t wait for the rest of the series! I received this ARC book for free from Net Galley and this is my honest review.
I am on a paranormal cozy kick as it’s one of my top three favorite genres, and when I saw this book, I knew I had to try it. I absolutely loved it! It was fun, the writing was great, and I had my suspicions about the killer, but I was wrong and it was great! While I felt that Amber was a little too isolated because she really didn’t have any friends/colleagues/close allies in the book to help her, I found that was probably the only thing I didn’t like about the book. And, to be honest, that’s not a terrible thing. All that showed me was that the author made me feel for the protagonist. The end was a gasp of “oh, no! What’s going to happen now?” and makes me want the next one. If you are fan of cozy paranormals, give this one try! Great book that I highly recommend, and I received a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
