Born into hell. Baptism by betrayal.
His life revolves around violence. My life is on the line. I’m trapped both physically and emotionally. A pawn in a game I didn’t know I was playing. Until I met him. Pike acts without emotion, but I know he feels something for me. I see it in his eyes when he looks at me. I feel it when he’s close. I know it’s real because I feel it too. Lust. Desire. It … feel it too.
Lust. Desire.
It complicates everything.
I know that I’m part of Pike’s plan for revenge.
He doesn’t know he’s part of mine.
Pawn is book two of The Pawn Duet. Pike is book one.

While waiting on pins and needles for this finale to another phenomenal duet by Ms. Frazier, I can totally understand her reasons for holding off until now.
While the subject matter is such a fiery topic, this story is more about the love between Pike and Mickey. The love that overcomes everything.
I empathized with Mickey’s mental instability. I applauded her bravery and her constant in Pike.
Pike was absolutely amazing in his possessive need for Mickey, in all her forms and vulnerabilities. In her strengths and weaknesses, he is there for her always.
With Logan’s Beach as the backdrop of this story, the reader is brought again to the gritty world that Ms. Fraizer has created and continues to amaze us with. There are twists and turns and a hella big surprise that you won’t see coming!
Get your hands on this duet! You will not be sorry!
This is the 2nd book in the series, you will need to read book 1, Pike, as this follows up where Pike left off. This is also a spin-off series from The King Series has several duets, standalones, and a trilogy, all set in one totally epic fictional world. You will see similar names, all the characters are explained, who is who, you don’t need to read those books per say.
Pike & Michalea “Mickey” are back in part two of this book series. Both have issues with communication between each other. Pike has one plan and Mickey has one plan for vengeance neither are talking to each other about it.
Pike doesn’t know how to express his feelings – he doesn’t know how to communicate himself to Mickey and others.
Mickey has her memory back and is trying to find out more about her father, and his connection.
Mickey has been lost for so long since her loss of her family. Pike has never really had a family. Both need love and kindness and find that with each other.
I did receive a free ARC copy of this book. I am freely leaving an honest review.
First things first, trigger warnings. So obviously this book contains racist jerks given that Mickey is a fake member of a hate group. There’s also a very brief mention of drug use, a child getting hit by a foster parent, and mental health issues in the form of seeing things that aren’t there.
OK so I’m like equal parts happy and angry at this book. I’ll start with the good parts.
This book contains what I think is now one of my favorite realization moments for a main character. Mickey has been sort of undercover with the Fourth Reich since they murdered her family. She’s determined to make them pay for what they did by taking down their leader. She doesn’t believe in what they do, she’s just there to study their behavior and get justice for her family.
But it’s during this book that she finally realizes what she’s been doing. She doesn’t share their beliefs, she hates being apart of the group. But she’s also never really done anything to stop them because she wants to study them in the name of science. And she wants to be able to kill their leader.
She realizes that she’s been complicit and that simply being not racist isn’t enough. She needs to take them down for the good of everyone, not just her family. I thought this message was extremely timely and well executed.
I also loved the way Mickey’s mental health was finally addressed. Where she recognized that she wasn’t OK and that she needed to get some help. I worried this aspect of her character would be glossed over. It’s important that it was dealt with in a healthy way.
Of course I loved the sex too haha. It was fun, dirty, and everything I expected from Pike and Mickey. But unfortunately there were some things about this story I really struggled to get past.
This book was a bit messy towards the end. Things seemed to jump around quite a bit and it was confusing. There were also parts thrown in that didn’t quite fit with the story and that muddled up the plot. There were also several unanswered questions and random details that just seemed so out of left field.
Specifically with Darius’s past. I didn’t like how his past was exposed to further the plot. But it was never elaborated on. Same with Mickey’s father. It would have been nice to really get full disclosure on his choices. Just a lot that still needs work in my opinion. It all seemed rushed.
Overall it was good not great. And it did feel unfinished. But I did enjoy the duet as a whole, I always love this author’s books!
T.M Frazier has a way with storytelling that grips the reader with its complexity. And Pawn is being released at a perfect time when it is very relevant to what’s happening around the world.
Pawn picks up right where Pike ends. Mickey is back to where it all began. Pike questions her loyalty and also his people reading ability. Both have to find a way to communicate with eachother truthfully while also handling what the outside world is throwing at them. My heart breaks for Michaela. She lost so much at such a young age and her understanding that there is something bigger outside her revenge just made me root for her more. Pike’s character also evolved. He learned to trust his gut more and was the perfect support for Mickey whenever she needed a shoulder to lean on.
Also, getting to revisit Logan’s Beach and seeing Preppy, King and Nine was just the cherry on top that rounded up the whole book. The only critique I have is I felt the last few chapters were a bit rushed. I would have liked a bit more of Percy’s journey, and Mickey’s dad’s journals to know why he and Darius did what they did. What started it all. But overall, Ms Frazier’s brilliant storytelling skill completes a story that not only entertains but also highlights important issues in society.
A well deserved end to Pike and Mickey’s story. Lots of unpredictable twists and moving pieces but also Preppy stealing the spotlight moments. I love him so much! My favorite books have broken characters that go on a journey of healing and Pawn definitely has this and so much more. Family is always a theme in the King series and I find myself smiling when they all come together. Pike and Mickey are a wonderful addition to this family and I can’t wait for more characters to join in as it continues to grow.
After reading Pike, I have been dying to get my hands on Pawn. T.M. Frazier did not disappoint with this story. You get epic twists and turns that will keep you on your toes. Past characters in the Logan Beach group that add that extra depth to the story. This story of revenge and honestly, so much more. There is passion, suspense and intrigue as we delve back into Pike and Mickey’s world. But I love how much Frazier adds of the real world into her stories. She gives us depth and realistic moments in her stories though we all would LOVE to have the boys from Logan Beach to be real, she makes it feel like you are transported into her world.
Overall, I loved this story because of the push and pull between Pike and Mickey. The things they keep hidden exposed. The way that these two play off of each other. Honestly, to write a review for books like this is really hard because you want to just yell the amazing things. But, instead, I will say this, if you are a Frazier fan, and you have been dying to get your hands on this book, you will not be disappointed.
Logan’s Beach is my favorite fictional world, so it feels like coming home when I read new books set in this world. I really enjoyed this conclusion to The Pawn Duet. I love the characters, love the “family” vibe, looooove the cameos! At one point, I jumped out of my chair and squealed, I was so excited to see my boys!
Pawn is exciting, sexy, and suspenseful, and will keep you guessing and questioning certain characters’ motivations. I also appreciate the relevancy of the plot of this book. I can’t imagine what a challenge it was to write this story, given the current state of our world, but it was done very well. It inspires hope, change, and thinking/stepping outside the box.
I hope Tracey never stops writing more books in this world. I want alllll the books for allllll the characters. Give me every side character and friend you can find, I will read them all!
If you are a fan of dark romance and romantic suspense, you will love this duet and the entire King Series. The Pawn Duet is a spin-off of that series, and can be read separately. Once you’ve had a taste of this world, you will want to read the entire series. The King Series has several duets, standalones, and a trilogy, all set in one totally epic fictional world. To truly start at the beginning, you would start with The Dark Light of Day, and trust me- you will NEVER look back.
The conclusion of this duet was pretty good, although it left me wanting just a little bit more of…. something.
The beginning was a little bit slow, and as a result it took me a little bit to really get into it. The middle was really good, but things really kind of fell apart for me in the end. I couldn’t tell if the ending was rushed, or if maybe I was just missing details, but either way, I didn’t leave the table totally stuffed.
However, I really did like most of the characters, I really enjoyed the cameos of characters past, and I am always happy to be back in Logan’s Beach.

Pawn (The Pawn Duet #2) by TM Frazier is the conclusion to Pike and Michaela aka Mickey’s story. I want to start this review by saying to reread Pike first before starting this book. It is not necessary but it just enhances the enjoyment of their story. I now want to reread Pike myself. Mickey is determined to take down Darius and The Reich over the killing of her family. She also has to deal with her feelings regarding the knowledge of who her father really was along with being separated from Pike. Pike isn’t fairing much better without Mickey. He has come to the realization he loves her and refuses to let her go. This is their journey. I can say the subject matter of a hate group is a timely subject. Heavy topic with a real chance at providing readers with some real good information. A good story that had quite a few surprises. The ending will definitely blow your mind. I want to tell the author that I hope Percy gets his own book. However I did want more of a discussion between Thorne and Pike regarding being siblings. Hey, maybe she will get her own book. 4 stars for me.
This was more than a book, more than a love story because although this is a work of fiction there was a heavy dose of reality in the pages that packed an emotional punch that I felt down to my soul. Top read of 2020
Every single book that takes place in Logan’s Beach pulls me in deeper and feeds my obsession of the characters and this intoxicating world.
I loved Mickey and Pike, the conclusion to their story was so much more than I expected. The moment I started this book there was no chance of me doing anything until I had read every word. It was nonstop action my feels all over the place they had so many ups and downs with the harshness of what life was tossing at them.
My heart broke for Mickey, then it shattered and was stomped on. The tragedies she faced were gut wrenching and I felt her pain so deeply. Pike was so good to her and it made me love him even more.
The parts with other characters that live in Logan’s Beach made my heart happy while also making me even more excited for what’s to come in Logan’s Beach
I received an advance copy of this for review. All opinions are my own and haven’t been influenced.
After reading Pike, I was on the edge of my seat waiting for Pawn. Obviously with the world being the way it is, I had to hang there a little longer than planned. But honestly? it was worth the wait. As someone who has read everything this author has published, I love their work. The world of the King series never gets old for me and being back in Logan’s Beach felt like coming home.
As always this authors work covers a topic not many authors would touch. But it was handled with such tact. And the characters growth.. I love to see it.
Calling all T.M Frazier fans. If you are looking for the usual thrill seeking, fast paced story with lots of twists and turns that will have you hooked from the get go then T.M Frazier has done it again with Pawn. After that ending of Pike i was dying to get my hands on Pawn and see how this story would play out.
Pike and Michaela are back in part two of the duet and although this wasn’t my favourite book by the author I still enjoyed it regardless. It was still passionate and gritty. It was everything you expect from a T.M Frazier book.
This has been a long awaited conclusion to this duet, but as a long time reader of this author, I know it will well and truly worth the wait. The world may be a crazy place right now with lots of uncertainty and chaos, but you can always rely on this author producing books that will distract you for hours on end.
Starting off exactly where we were left slack jawed in book 1 hooking you right back in, unable to look away. So much happens and then changes in a blink of an eye it would be unfair to talk about any of the content/context in the book as it will ruin the magical journey this author has created for readers.
Recently I’ve been trying to come up with reviews as I read, but this book sucks you in and making it impossible for you to think of anything but what you are reading. Much loved characters from previous books come to play and don’t go easy on those on the wrong side of them.
Although parts of this book towards the end definitely confused me it didn’t take away how amazing this duet was as a whole. I think for this book the author just wanted to get the book out to waiting readers during this crazy time so some things got lost in translation or muddled up.
Still a solid four stars from me.
I really loved how this duet played out. Pawn has all of the dark edgy writing style that we know and love. It also had the grit of the first book but this one is a lot more powerful, it runs a lot deeper than just fiction.
As the story unfolded there were some shocking revelations that I didn’t see coming AT ALL and I really liked that.
One thing I love about this Author is she never fails to throw curveballs that knock you on your ass. Her stories definitely have the WOW factor.
Pike and Mickey really got under my skin with their thought provoking emotional story. I was gripped from beginning to end. They don’t have the easiest journey but they are perfect for each other.
As always being back in Logan’s Beach has been an absolute pleasure. This fictional place always puts a huge smile on my face because it feels like home and these characters feel like family.
I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next from T.m Frazier.
What an epic conclusion to the Pawn Duet!!!
You’d think the major plot twist would be the cliffhanger ending to book 1 but NOOOOOO, I was the fool who thought that and DID NOT SEE the next one barreling towards me until it hit.me.in.the.face.
I have all of the love and respect for the characters, the story and the way it was written. The world is a different place to when these books were planned and written and even when Pike released but it is an amazing piece of fiction and one I will treasure.
My heart is full and I can only want more from TM Frazier because that’s what her writing does to me.
<3
A great conclusion to this duet! What a ride! Hooked from the beginning to the end. Loved Pike and Mickey. Definitely touching on a sensitive subject matter and done very well. As always the supporting characters ROCK! A definite must read!
„You are my constant.”
After the mindblowing cliffhanger that the author left us with at the end of the first part of the Pawn Duet, I was looking forward to this sequel. And Frazier did not disappoint! The continuation of Pike and Mickey’s story is one big rollercoaster. This book is not just an unusual love story. Frazier also touches controversial and very current topics and she handles them perfectly. Pawn is gritty, raw and real. And it’s amazing!
This part is full of unexpected twists and turns. It’s action-packed and jaw-dropping. And although I had doubts along with the characters, their palpable connection worked for me like an anchor that was a foothold in the middle of complete chaos. Every Pike’s thought gave me goosebumps. Each action taken by Mickey accelerated my heartbeat. But the feeling that connects these two was the reason why I didn’t have a heart attack from an excess of emotions. I love Pike for his undying loyalty and selflessness. I adore Mickey’s determination and devotion. They were tangled in the web of lies, deceit and destruction, but their love bloomed like the most stubborn plant in the middle of desert. Together they are a force to be reckoned with. They’re full of passion, tenacity and resistance. Their love story isn’t pretty, but Frazier told it beautifully.
Pawn is the the perfect conclusion to this duet. I’m happy that this couple got their HEA and I love the message it contains. T.M. Frazier showed the courage to write about heavy and uncomfortable subject and she has my utter respect for that, because I believe that it wasn’t easy. It’s a mix of love and hate, truth and lies, revenge and forgiveness- a perfect story set in my beloved Logan’s Beach!
Fan-flippin-tastic!! What an epic conclusion!
Mickey left Pike and went back to the Fourth Reich. She is set on her revenge and doesn’t want Pike to get hurt. But now, Percy is back, out of jail. Darius has arranged a marriage between them. But something is different about Percy….
Pike is hurt and lost since Mickey left. He is struggling to understand what was real and what was fake between them. He’s had enough and is set to get Mickey back, and to help her take down the Fourth Reich.
So what happens? You’ll definitely want to one click this stunning finale!
Pawn is book two in the Pawn Duet. It was definitely a good read. Alot went on in this and it had suspense, secrets and twists and turns. I loved Pike and Mickey. These two were just off the charts hot together. Of course the King Crew making appearances is a plus! Love all of them!
