Born into hell. Baptism by betrayal.
His life revolves around violence. My life is on the line. I’m trapped both physically and emotionally. A pawn in a game I didn’t know I was playing. Until I met him. Pike acts without emotion, but I know he feels something for me. I see it in his eyes when he looks at me. I feel it when he’s close. I know it’s real because I feel it too. Lust. Desire. It … feel it too.
Lust. Desire.
It complicates everything.
I know that I’m part of Pike’s plan for revenge.
He doesn’t know he’s part of mine.
Pawn is book two of The Pawn Duet. Pike is book one.

I LOVE TM Frazier’s books. I’m a big fan. The Pawn want my favorite but still a good, solid ending to the duet and Mickey and Pike’s story. I did love Pike, book 1. The Pawn deals with some tough topics and I do applaud author TM Frazier for tackling it. I love the hero Pike. It is a suspenseful, twisted, dark and gritty read with some light moments courtesy of Preppy, who I adore.
Mickey continues hell bent on revenge and on protecting the ones she loves. Pike is confused at what is going on but determined to be with her, whether she likes it or not.
Overall, I love being back in Logan’s Beach with our favorite characters, doing what they do best. Kicking butt and taking names! Pike is a fantastic addition to the yummy, dangerous heroes author TM Frazier dreams up for us.
Mickey is a vulnerable yet strong heroine. I actually really came to like Percy, too.
The Pawn is a great ending to the duet. It ties up the loose ends. Answers most questions. I liked Mickey and Pike together. There were some crazy, unexpected twists. Solid story.

“Crazy and psycho. A love story.”
Not sure what it was, but there was something missing for me on this one. I didn’t feel the intensity I did with the endings of the previous couples, but they were still scorching hot. And of course, any time spent in Logan Beach is well worth the trip! Pike and Mickey are racing against time to figure out if they are meant to be, or it’s all one big lie, and round and round we go, until we didn’t. I enjoyed the banter, the excitement, and always, always the wise quips of my favorite bow tied book boyfriend, even if it was only a little peek. These characters and this town has held my heart since I first met Doe and King, and I’m not sure I’ll ever tire of returning!! Pike and Mickey were a wild ride, and they were hot enough to scorch my fingers white knuckling my kindle, so it’s a can’t miss ending!!

Pike and Mickey are back and after been left with so many questions after reading the first book, I couldn’t wait to dive into this. Mickey is determined to get her revenge even if that means putting herself in danger. Pike is just as determined to protect her but has he underestimated what he’s up against?
I loved the first book in this duet and I think my expectations were just too high with this one. It’s got everything I’ve come to expect from Ms Frazier’s books, the twists and turns, the secrets and lies, the fast paced action, the hot but dangerous hero and the strong, independent female lead. Yet something was missing for me. It could very well be a case of it’s not the book it’s me, and although I did enjoy the conclusion of Mikey and Pikes story I wasn’t as invested as I was reading the first book. Maybe it was my mood, maybe it was a mistake on my part not rereading book one before I jumped into this. I don’t know. I just didn’t feel that connection like I did in the first book.
If you’re a fan of suspense books with a fast paced, action packed storyline, this duet is definitely one for you to check out.
After finishing book one, I was dying to get my hands on the conclusion. I was desperate to find out what would happen with Pike and Mickey after that cliffhanger. Trust me when I say, the twists and turns don’t stop there. I didn’t expect anything less from this author and her character, Mickey’s, drive for revenge.
Because this is book two in a duet, I will not give anything about the plot away. Pike and Mickey’s relationship is anything but ordinary but it is deep and strong. They were loyal and devoted through and through.
I just wish the ending had been fleshed out a little bit more. It felt a little rushed at the end and I still had just a couple of questions left over (although, this could just be me being a little picky).
This was such a good duet and I enjoy every moral line that this author pushes. I can’t wait to see what she brings next.
Grateful to have received a complimentary ARC copy to honestly review.
Pawn is the duet conclusion for Pike and Mickey’s story. As in Pike, we are visited by some of the characters who we have grown to “love” from TM Frazier’s previous books. The recent events have seemed to harden some of them though – even Preppy has lost a bit of his humor edge. Though, I admit it, I still laughed at his warped sense of humor. As with the rest of the love stories in this world, theirs is not one built on a traditional timeline.
“Revenge doesn’t fill my heart the way Pike does. He’s the key. And I just changed the fing locks”
With the current state of the world today, TM Frazier was very upfront that she struggled with this book. Writing about a white supremacist group while a Black Lives Matter movement is taking place weighs heavily on anyone with empathy. It isn’t written with her normal clean lines and snarky rhetoric. The end gets a little convoluted, but the story line is concluded. No loose pieces are left dangling.
I don’t even know where to start. This conclusion to this duet was just… I don’t even know what to say.
If you have never read a book by this author you are missing out. She has a way of taking the most damaged and screwed up people and make you fall in love with them.
Pike I really just fell in love with in the previous books. This duet starts off exactly where book one ended. And let me tell what you read in the previous book will not prepare you for what you read in this one.
Pike is struggling with his feelings for Mickey and trying to come to terms with the fact he might have to kill her.
The only person who can hurt me right now, is you. It’s your fucking move, Mic. Make sure you make the right one
There is so many twists and turns that you wont see coming and let me tell you it will just have you fall in love with this authors writing all over again. Just like she made me love her previous characters Pike and Mickey are definitely added to that list now. Suspense and action and humour and so much more is exactly what you will find in this book.
Gah!! T.M. Frazier always delivers an energetic, fast paced adrenaline pumping ride like no one’s business. The Pawn was no different. There were a lot of unanswered questions that Mickey and Pike needed to face in order to get to the truth. This story was passionate and full of surprises. But while I enjoyed this story I did not feel a huge connection between Mickey and Pike after two books together.
Overall, there was still a huge amount of secrets and discord between them which I felt got in their way more, acting as a hindrance more than a help. Don’t get me wrong, it’s always nice to be back in Frazier’s world and seeing all the familiar faces but I would be remiss if I did not add that after ten plus books in the King world, it does get a little tedious at times. This story won’t rock your world like DLOD or the King trilogy IMO, but it was still a solid read! 4 stars! ~Ratula
4.25 stars—PAWN is the second instalment in TM Frazier’s contemporary adult THE PAWN dark, romance duet focusing on Pike and Mickey. THE PAWN DUET is a spin-off from the authors KING series. PAWN should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately after the events and cliff hanger of book one PIKE.
SOME BACKGROUND: Four years earlier Mickey lost everything , and in an effort to protect our story line hero, Mickey continues to focus on revenge, sacrificing her freedom to destroy from within.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Mickey and Pike) PAWN follows Mickey Lovejoy as she continues to search for the truth. Having lost her family to an accident that was anything but, Mickey is desperate for answers including the destruction of the Fourth Reich, a racist group her father had started and once controlled. With Pike no longer a threat to her plans, having pushed our hero out of her life, Mickey struggles to make sense of what is real when ghosts from the past continue to pull her in the other direction. As Pike battles King, Preppy and Nine for what to do about the woman he loves, Mickey must face the inevitable when a promise made years before comes to fruition forcing Mickey to trust a man she is unable to control.
PAWN is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and revenge; of mental illness, discrimination, racism and hate. Not all is well in our heroine’s life as she tries to make sense of the world around her including the loss of her family, the trust of a stranger, and the love of a man who is willing to kill to protect the only family he knows. The premise is dark and gritty; the romance is dramatic and intense; the characters are angry, broken, and struggling. TM Frazier pulls the reader into a timely and tragic look at hatred, racism, betrayal and revenge, and the resulting affects it has on our story line heroine.

Pawn is the riveting conclusion to the Pawn Duet. T.M.Frazier brings us twists and turns and tons of action. I fell in love with Pike in the first book and he continued to steal my heart in this one. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised in several parts and loved the ending. As always, Preppy steals the scene when he shows up and continues to be my favorite.

This book was a hair raising, intimidating, inspirational, eye opening, heart warming/wrenching story. The beginning of the book he me thinking on a totally different level as to where I thought the author was going with this story. The story has,any ups and down and twist and turns. I was on an emotional roller coaster the whole time. I at first thought the story was going to be about love and second chances but it was so much much more. TM makes you think about the world today, love, hate, friendship, family. This was an amazing story, I’m so glad I was able to receive a copy.
Pawn was a passionate, fast-paced, suspenseful and riveting read. There were so many questions left unanswered previously that Pike and Mickey were left to contend with in this book. So many twists and surprises along the way kept me on the edge of my chair. Pike for all his rough and tumble ways had a huge heart that made me swoon with how fierce and possessively he loved. Mickey’s drive for redemption and understanding was quite prevalent to issues being seen currently worldwide. I loved catching up with the Logan’s Beach clan and am hoping a certain few characters get their own stories in the near future. Heart-racing, gritty and passionate Pawn was a great end to Pike and Mickey’s story though I hope this isn’t the last we’ve seen of them.
Pawn by T.M. Frazier is the second and final book in the Pawn Duet . Picking up where book one, Pike, left off this story, told in dual POV between Michaela/Mickey and Pike, is an emotional and dangerous dive into the twisted mindscape of the Fourth Reich. In light of current events this book must not have been an easy one for the author to write. Balancing between the unspoken rights an author has to write what they envision for their characters and being sensitive to the current political and human climate, T.M. Frazier does a stellar job of not pandering, of staying true to the narrative of the story, and delving deeper into the mind set of hate portrayed here by the members of the Fourth Reich. Pike and Mickey’s story is twisted and emotional. Having started their bizarre relationship with kidnapping and torture, they survive through that and more. With guest appearances of King, Preppy, Nine and Rage, this conclusion was well worth the wait and was another addictive visit into the world of Logan’s Beach, Florida.
As always T.M gives us a gritty story with formidable characters living above the law.
Plenty of twists and turns In the second part of this duet and some very unexpected surprises. I love seeing the Logan’s Beach family clan growing and more characters being added. Pike and Mickeys story took a while to unfold, I loved the ride and their HEA was well fought.
T.M touches in racial hate in this duet which has suddenly become very topical again due to recent events , so we’ll played out and well written. Hopefully it’s given people food for thought !!
Pawn by TM Frazier is book two in The Pawn Duet and is a sizzling modern day tell that will get you thinking. With the world filled with so much hate and violence this story brings that to light but is not the focus. It is also a story about redemption, love, and forgiveness; something that this world needs a little more of. Once again Frazier brings Logan’s Beach to life within the pages of this story and it will pull you under like a riptide. With incredible characters there is no way not to read this book in one sitting, it is just that good. 5-stars for Pawn by TM Frazier
Mickey has left Pike to finish the job that she started, destroy the group that killed her family. Mickey just doesn’t realize that Pike isn’t the type of man to walk away from someone that he loves and that he is willing to fight for her. With the Fourth Reich preparing for Mickey’s wedding to the next leader of the group, Mickey must put her plan into action soon if she wants it to work and for her not to be just another Pawn in the racist hate group. With some unexpected help and some well trusted friends Pike hopes that he can get to Mickey in time before it’s too late for her to get away at all.
After reading Pike I was expecting a little more, but to me it fell a little flat, it was still an enjoyable story.
Pawn is the conclusion to Pike and Mickey’s story, and it picks up exactly where the first book of the duet ended. This book was quick-paced, suspenseful and full-on action. There were some twists I did not see coming and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the plot unravel and justice being served.
So, Mickey is back at the Third Reich’s compound, and now more than ever she’s determined to bring down Darius and get justice for her family. To do that she must distance herself from Pike, to keep him and his loved ones safe. Mickey doesn’t want to bring more death and destruction to his door and even if her heart shatters in the process she will go forward with her initial plan.
The storyline is full of suspenseful and angsty moments. The action is fast-paced, and things unravel pretty quickly. I was surprised Mickey found an ally in the person who I never thought would even help her, it was a nice turn of events. And seeing the bond between her and Pike grow so strong was heartwarming. They fit together like two pieces of a puzzle, and they make each other a better person. They both lost people they loved but destiny brought them together to fill that void in their hearts. The ending was fitting for their story, I loved all the emotion that poured from the pages
Overall, I enjoyed this duet very much, and I recommend it to everyone who loves dark romance!
*I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Pawn was everything I expected after reading Pike. You need to read book 1 first as this follows on from the cliffhanger that was left.
This is a love story between two people that never expected it. The plot is full of tragedy, revenge and emotions. TM Frazier vividly makes the scenes appear before your eyes, her characters are well developed and believable.
I love returning to the Logan’s Beach world and all the characters there. Pawn includes several favourites such as Pike, Nine, King and Preppy.
Pawn jumps straight back into the story from where Pike left off, as Mickey pushes forward with her plans for revenge.
I guess because of the storyline, its premise, the romance and relationship between Mickey and Pike was inevitably going to take a back seat to the revenge once Mickey made the decision to return to the compound. Although they made the most of getting together wherever and whenever the opportunity presented itself, (cue hot and heavy scenes), nevertheless overall I did feel there was a disconnect between this couple. There was a certain lack of communication but for me, although frustrating at times, it fitted the story and didn’t drag on. I love a suspenseful read and I loved that side of this story with its several shocking revelations and bomb shell moments that I did not see coming.
The business of revenge is a serious one but I loved the contrast between the unexpected and lighthearted, albeit irreverent, humor, courtesy of Preppy and Nine and the heavier topics in the book. A little light relief in the midst of all the mayhem. I think the world was a different place when the author first plotted this story and the fact that it ended up being rather relevant to current events must have proved to be an unexpected challenge. A challenge which, by showing us the conclusions Mickey comes to and the toll it takes on her, I believe Ms Frazier more than rose to. Mickey’s realisation about her motives for revenge, that payback in itself wasn’t enough, was thought provoking, really well thought out and well executed.
This story certainly didn’t take the direction I expected it to and I enjoyed it all the more because of that. I love these visits to Logan Beach, to have the opportunity to explore new stories with new couples and to catch up with more familiar residents from this series. I really hope this isn’t the last we see of this motley crew.

I was very excited when the second part of this duet series finally landed on my kindle as I couldn’t wait to see what happened next ‘cuz the cliffhanger of the first book was just mind blowing. Expect the unexpected ‘cuz it’ll be a rollercoaster but then again what do you expect of an author that has a way to throw you a curveball because no matter that you think it’s going to one way, it completely goes the other way. You just never know and that is definitely one of the reasons you need to read this duet series. Not only because a lot of things in the story resonates with you as just happens in real life, it makes you think… And of course I liked that some characters from previous books popped up 🙂
Mickey has made a decision that will change everything in its course but will the revenge she is so desperately seeking be worth her while. With old enemies in sight, there is also an alliance that will be formed that might be a game changer as it may be the thing that could save her… After everything that has happened, Pike doesn’t know what to believe anymore and will seek his answers the only way he knows how. But nothing is as what it seems and the danger is lurking everywhere. Will both finally find all the answers they have been looking for or will it be the end for them all?…
