Dorothea Benton Frank presents a refreshingly honest and funny novel about friendship, family, and finding happiness by becoming who you’re meant to be.Catapulted from her home, her marriage and her children, artist Rebecca Simms has come to Pawleys Island, South Carolina, to hide herself from herself. Little does she know that on this “arrogantly shabby” family playground, she’ll encounter … she’ll encounter three people who will change her life: a wise and irresistible octogenarian who will pry her secrets from her, a gallery owner who caters to interior decorators and heaven save us, tourists, and a retired attorney from Columbia who’s complacent in her fat and sassy life until Rebecca’s stormy advent…

I love any and every thing Dorothy Benton Frank writes, i’ve never been disappointed by any of her books!
I enjoyed reading this book while at the beach in Pawleys Island.
Not an interesting story line for me, maybe target is a younger audience.
I thoroughly enjoy these Low Country books.
Easy read. I bought the audio and listened to it while I drove or walked or (rarely) cleaned. Usual type of characters for Ms Benton–a disillusioned woman, an abusive or inattentive man, a relationship crisis, new friends, new love, new hope–with humor and the occasional ghost.
In this case an artist, whose husband has run her off and turned her children against her, runs away to her friend’s beach condo to cry in her beer and finds self-esteem and a good lawyer and new friends.
Never read a Dorothea Benton Frank novel I didn’t like!
I always enjoy this author and her tales of the south which is an area of the country unknown to me. This is a great story and very enjoyable to read.
I love Dorothea!! Characters you want to know forever
This was a great book! Love the author!
Excellent story and characters. Setting is near my hometown of Myrtle Beach so I particularly loved the story. Much was also set in Charleston, which is also one of my favorite places.
I plan to read more books from this author.
Great book…all of her books I highly recommend.
Wonderful character development. I felt like I was on vacation on Pauley Island. A great read!
A very enjoyable book about life on the South Carolina coast.
have been to Pawley’s Island, so I could visualize more of what was happening.
I love to read books with a beach setting and this one was great. The story which I thought was going to be very predictable turned and twisted and ended up with surprises and accomplishments that I was not expecting. Kept my attention and I enjoyed it very much.
One of my favorite authors. Realistic characters in real places.
The writing was very good, and though it was a feel good story, the characters and the setting made it a worthwhile read.
Loved the book! My family came from SC so I know the territory and these women are true to form. We Southern women are strong and stick together.
Dorothea Benton Frank’s books are always good. Characters are real. Well written and I love the beach locations. Read all her books, wait for another.
