Dorothea Benton Frank presents a refreshingly honest and funny novel about friendship, family, and finding happiness by becoming who you’re meant to be.Catapulted from her home, her marriage and her children, artist Rebecca Simms has come to Pawleys Island, South Carolina, to hide herself from herself. Little does she know that on this “arrogantly shabby” family playground, she’ll encounter … she’ll encounter three people who will change her life: a wise and irresistible octogenarian who will pry her secrets from her, a gallery owner who caters to interior decorators and heaven save us, tourists, and a retired attorney from Columbia who’s complacent in her fat and sassy life until Rebecca’s stormy advent…

This book is funny with a good story plot. DB Frank surprised me with her wit. I had read other books by her that, as I recall, were more serious. But this story is good. I love her characters….but then, I am also southern so she did catch the style of speech and the characters very well. It is a great summer reading book. You will like it. 🙂 The book’s title is: Pawley’s Island … by: Dorothea Benton Frank
I have and love all of Dorothea Benton Frank’s books and have read most of them at least twice. Her characters are real people dealing with real situations, yet the books are a joy to read and invariably brighten my day. When you finish one of Benton Frank’s novels you will feel that you know her characters as well as you know your best friend and that you’ve visited the gorgeous Low Country. All of Benton Frank’s books are highly recommended!
Love Dorothea Benton Frank. All of her books make me happy! Miss her!
Having read most if not all of Dorthea’s books, again this was a fun read. Set in the south, I find it fascinating reading about it since I have never lived down there.
Lovely romantic story set in South Carolina. I enjoy all of DBF’s books.
Love reading about the low country
Absolutely loved …. this book and I have every one of her books. I am deeply saddened that we lost a talented writer this past summer. She truly is amazing, never wanted the stories to end.

loved this book, kept me interested with great characters and theme.
I loved this book! It was a good story, with witty and realistic characters. Enough intrigue to keep it interesting.
Author writes nice books about the Lowcountry. The story-line is very typical of her style but an easy, escapist-type read.
Although this is the least favorite of the Dorothea Benton Frank books that I have read (and I’ve read just about all of them), it is still a good read.
Great beach book great author love her books. Lee
