Nobody writes ordinary people in extraordinary times quite like Aimee Alexander. I have read all of her books, but this is my favourite. Jenny is a single mother, living in Dublin, raising her son Charlie and doing her best when her life is suddenly turned upside down. The reader walks every step of this difficult and confusing way with her and …
This book relates how a child’s struggle with leukemia solves a world of problems for his mom, who finally develops a relationship with her mother and marries the father of her child. This story is a perfect example of how a dreadful diagnosis produces a future of happiness and fulfillment.
I loved this book. It was sad but had a happy ending. The writing was spot on and you can see that the author has done her research.
This book is very well written and I feel like the author has either done a lot of research or has firsthand knowledge of children and cancer. I think it would be particularly helpful for someone who is or wants or needs to be a support system for either an adult who has an ill child or someone who deals with ill children.
Sometimes when I read a book, I forget the title and plot by the time I’ve finished it. With this book, I found it so meaningful, realistic and educational that there is no way I’ll ever forget the title or the author. After reading this book, I purchased her other 2 books, which are equally well written. She is addressing modern day issues of …
This book was wonderful. It had my interest from page 1.
I love the way the author put tiny everyday details into a lot of situations. Their conversations were readable and so real!
The characters, so different, were so well brought out and very true-to-life.
The author took a difficult life happening and added so much warmth, love and even …
Great character development even when the main character was really driving me crazy at times with her stubbornness. Very sweet, emotional story that makes you feel like you’re moving along right there with this mom dealing with her child’s illness and learning right along with her. And who doesn’t like a HEA? Very good read.
A good read that draws you in about a 4 year old child that lives in England and diagnosis with Leukemia. Its a very emotional story that of a family dealing with cancer in such a young child. It show you all the support and love given to this child. A wonderful story and would recommend this book
Been too long since I read it to give specifics. But I liked it.
Couldn’t put this book down
Great book.
I couldn’t put this book down, read in in one sitting. Wonderful characters. Easy reading.
Pretty predictable
Very interesting. I liked it a lot.
Strong characters and story line kept me interested, even though the irony of child’s doctor actually being his father was a little far-fetched.
Unusual storyline. Not realistic, but then I read these books to step out of the real world occasionally. Some stressful moments for the main character but I enjoyed the ending of the book.
I loved the detail in this book.
It was a good book but in the first 3 chapters you could already figure the ending out yourself.
This book would speak to many. The characters seemed real and the story flowed.
Excellant book and storyline.
