It left me wanting more!
Great stories. I love this author’s development of characters. The “Captain Lacy” series is one of my favorites!!
Loved the view point and the people
Really good story line keeps you gripped until the end
The three stories comprising this book, dated in three distinct eras of history, demonstrate the versatility of this author. All three stories held my interest and were consistent with their purported time and place as far as I am able to tell. Each story could be the basis for or a part of a successful series. Not rated 5 stars only because I reserve that rating for unrecognized literary masterpieces.
First and last stories were good. The one in the middle was a dud.
Like the author’s style. This book is short stories. I was disappointed that the second story wasn’t finished, it just ended abruptly. I don’t know if this was a publishing error or what. Otherwise I would have rated higher
Not what I was expecting, but good stories all the same.
This book is comprised of three novellas. Each story is a mystery set in a different historical period. Each is very different and all are engaging. I found a new author to follow and several series that I am now binge reading.
Liked the sampling of the author’s different series!
I thought the author did a good job of showing how to solve the crimes without all the tools we have today and made it seem possible in the setting of each story.
These are 3 novellas……..all very well written and with very interesting characters. I love reading about mysteries in the past, whether it be Rome, or Victorian England! Now I want to read more from this author. I especially want to read more of Captain Lacey’s adventures 🙂
Nice stories, but I felt like only in the gladiator story did the main character actually solve the mystery.
3 good stories with a different take on the usual characters and places. Fun read.
The history made the stories so much more compelling and all three kept me turning the pages. Loved it.
I love historical fiction. And have read all of the Lacey books. Two new collections show great promise and look forward to the release of more.
Three good stories with a twist at the end.
excellent colection of mysteries
Okay, but not overly interesting. The endings are rather cut and dried.
Very well written. The characters are all complex and interesting, as are the situations and crimes. Will read more from this author.
