“There is a lot be said in favor of a talented author bringing a combination of romance, heat, and adventure to what otherwise could be a very tired genre. Leedom brings it all!” When April Linus’ best friends find themselves in trouble with the Miami Mafia, the former heiress turns to an even more dangerous criminal for help… her father. Not an easy decision for the young, single mother who … the young, single mother who found herself pregnant at nineteen and forced to choose between her trust fund and having a baby. April’s father agrees to loan her the money, if she moves home for a few months so he can get to know his grandchild. Before she can decide what to do, she comes face to face with the last man she ever expected to see again… her father’s former bodyguard who disappeared five years ago after she slept with him.
Black Ops operative Jonas Ostergaard made a nearly fatal mistake the last time he was in Key West. After working his way into Philip Linus’ circle of trust, Jonas let the Arms Dealer’s beautiful, kindhearted daughter distract him from his mission. He was yanked off the job by his superiors, but now he’s back to stop Linus from selling a dangerous new technology on the black market.
Needing to prove himself to save his job, Jonas is determined to keep his distance from April this time. But when he suspects she knows more about her father’s illegal business dealings than she admits, he’s torn between protecting her and uncovering the truth.
Passion ignites when April and Jonas end up on the run dodging arms dealers in the steamy Amazon rainforest, but April wonders what kind of relationship she could have with a man who has more secrets than she does. A man who could disappear at any moment and leave her heart in tatters.
Trapped between loyalty to her father and a new allegiance with the man she’s falling in love with, April realizes none of it will matter if they don’t escape the jungle alive.

This my first book from Tricia Leedom. OMG. secret children are my favorite trope and she does it RIGHT! Omg i cant wait to read more from this author . Also it seems she was inspired by real life events that can only happen in Key West
The story of Jonas, the most mysterious of the Ostergaard brothers, and April Linus, the daughter of a rich and possibly dangerous man.
I always love Tricia Leedom’s exciting romantic adventure novels, but this one hit close to home for me. We get a glimpse into Jonas’s troubled childhood, and find out part of what made him the dark, tough man he is.
April can see through him and she knows there is a real person behind his unemotional façade. If they have any chance of a life together, she has to help him bring down an international illegal weapons organization….and her father just might be the leader of the gang!
I know from personal experience what a bad childhood can do to you. Reading what he went through, and how his past made Jonas withdraw from his emotions, really got to me. I know how that can happen. This story is a fictional adventure, but it feels so real and emotionally honest. All of Tricia’s books are fun and exciting but, this one especially, makes me feel like her characters are real people – like I’m seeing a bit of myself in them.
I loved this book and can’t wait to see what she writes next!
Well, the story line itself really got me. I couldn’t wait to read this book. I will say I was a bit disappointed in Jonas the main man. He was just a straight up ass hole. Granted, I know he has a shitty childhood and he had his walls built up but sheesh. I wanted April to just tel him off so bad. Overall, it was a good read.
I really enjoyed reading this book. Like the others in this series, it had a underlying current of danger and suspense that kept things interesting, but it wasn’t so heavy or all-consuming as to detract from the romance.
I loved these characters and truly rooted for them to get together. That being said, however, they both annoyed me enormously. LOL! April did so many dumb, inappropriate things; and pushed so much; plus she was a total idiot for ever trusting her dad. (She should have just asked Anders for the money to begin with!) And Jonas, while having many good excuses for trying to keep his distance from April and Archie, was a real tool in how he handled most things with her. Especially considering that he was trying to sway her to his side against her father.
The author’s writing style is so good though, that I mostly just sat back and enjoyed the ride for most of the book. I was able to get completely immersed in the story and wrapped up with the characters. From start to finish, it was a pretty wild ride of suspense and passion.
I thought the ending was really lacking. The interaction between the brothers was heart-warming, but I SO wanted there to be a birthday cake for Jonas! While it was good to see many old characters return and provide updates, there were some notable omissions (such as Obie). While a nice happy ending for the entire series, not just this book; it just seemed a bit rushed and a little off.
Still, this was in general an extremely well-written story with lots of intrigue, witty banter and heat. Definitely a book and series that I would recommend, especially for a relaxing day on the beach!
