This story was enjoyable for me until the half-way mark when the search for answers became implausible. Luckily, I stuck with it to the end because I didn’t realize until the author’s note, that the apartment, its early occupant and the portrait were non-fiction. How fascinating! I did love the depictions of the sights and delights of Paris. Overall, fact was better than fiction.
An extremely interesting book, really enjoyed this author.
