Once, they were engaged, now they’re enemies. Until they meet again in Paris at a secret BDSM club for the world’s uber wealthy. They may hate each other for what happened in their past, but their sexual chemistry makes them perfect D/s partners. When the real world intrudes and the past repeats itself, Solomon has to decide if he’ll walk away from the only woman he’s ever really loved.
You know how it is, arc books piling up, a neglected TBR list but you spot a book for sale and bingo! suddenly your reading something that wasn’t on your schedule.
It’s my own fault, not only am I a book whore but I’m even more of a book on sale whore! The trilogy was only 99p and no way could I walk on by that bargain. My brain also needed a commitment free read so, after battling through a couple of troublesome arcs, I decided to indulge in a low expectation read. So colour me incredibly surprised when this turned out to be quite an engaging, emotional and utterly captivating read.
Solomon is absolutely to die for, so gorgeously sexy, so stridently dominant and so sweetly caring. He doesn’t make the best of first impressions when he flies all the way to Paris to warn James not to fall in love with Christiana, though he is doing it from the best of intentions. Having been left both emotionally and physically scarred by the one time he fell in love with a sub, Solomon doesn’t want his friend to suffer the same fate.
As the book progressed I fell in love with Solomon, there really wasn’t anything to dislike about him. No wonder that ex-love and sub, Vivi, couldn’t say no to him. You’ve read the blurb, so you don’t need me to tell you that Solomon takes a second chance with the woman who broke his heart. Their scenes together were hot, the chemistry in their own words explosive.
I felt actual BDSM play felt fairly tame, though also entirely suitable for a couple who haven’t done a scene together for several years. It didn’t need intense BDSM, the connection, the emotion and connection between Vivienne and Solomon was all the book needed. By the end of the book I felt totally invested in this couple.
Normally it’s either the male that stuffs up – or at least I feel it is his fault – but this time the fault all lies with Vivienne. I can’t wait to see how she makes things up to Solomon and I will be jumping straight into Paris Punishment!
Paris Pleasure is an intense and emotional start to the Paris Trilogy. Lila Dubois masterfully sets the feel of the story arc by portraying a deep rooted emotional scarring and volatile relationship between Vivienne and Solomon. Paris Pleasure ends with a glimpse into the early years Vivienne and Solomon’s relationship and sets the beginning scene of Paris Punishment (Book 2).
The Orchid Club is a BDSM club that is in a different city every month. Solomon heads to Paris to warn his friend James against falling in love with his submissive. While at the club’s location in Paris, he runs into his old love and sub, Vivienne. They had a very bad breakup years ago. As much as they try to avoid the chemistry between them it is impossible. They begin to play, saying that is only for the three days. Solomon and Viv begin to reignite the feelings they used to have for each other and think that they might be able to begin anew. Unfortunately, Viv’s family interferes, and she has to make a choice, Solomon or her family/business. This results in an argument and they both separate.
This is book 1 in a new trilogy by Lila Dubois. This book sets up how the characters first came together. As the story progresses, we get bits and pieces of how the characters came together. I liked both Solomon and Viv. Both are very strong people outside of the club. When they get together, the chemistry is hot. Both are world weary but come alive when they are with each other. The sex scenes are off the charts due to the relationship between the two characters. Decisions have to be made where this relationship is heading. It is a cliffhanger as it is a trilogy. I can’t wait for the next book to see what happens.
Solomon is jaded on love. Vivienne is the cause. When they meet again after their explosive departure from one another all the chemistry they had is still there. The way they worked as Dom and sub was everything right. It was their personal lives that caused such an irreparable rift. I was rooting for them all through this book. Their emotions jump off the page and into my heart. They are both so lost without each other but it seems as though they can’t survive being with each other. There is such hurt and loss but infused with love in these pages. I cannot wait for the next installment because I don’t truly know if they will be a happily ever after or not.
I Adore These Trilogies!! Intertwines with the San Francisco Trilogy!!
Some of the most scintillating and entertaining stories you will ever read! The depth of characterizations and the feeling that you live in their skin as a reader is unparalleled. I highly recommend these trilogies and can’t wait for the next Paris episode.
*** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book ***
I loved the start of Vivienne and Solomon’s second chance adventure. A lot of baggage to be unloaded, a lot of secrets to be reveled, and steamy D/s action. Lila DuBois is great at building characters and their world’s that you can truly see and feel. These two are compelling characters that make you want to learn more. The book is a fast, page turner, but a cliffhanger. I know Lila won’t let me down with the next book. This is a great start to the Paris trilogy portion of the Orchid Club series. Although each trilogy can be read as standalone, why would you want to?
****I received an ARC and this is my honest review****
I hate Paris should be the title of this book. Soloman tells everyone who will listen that he hates Paris, but does he really. He fell in love in Paris and had his heart broken in Paris. Now a surprise meeting at an Orchid Club event gives him a second chance with Vivienne or does it. This story has three parts so we get to meet the characters and get a taste, just enough to “need” the rest of the rest. There are strong feelings with these characters and lots of hot steamy BDSM scenes. This installment leaves the reader wanting more but in a good way.
This author is amazing! Strong characters, interesting plot, and steamy BDSM scenes! I couldn’t put this book down!
When I saw Ms. Dubois was continuing the Orchid Club Series I was so very happy especially when it was going to be the mysterious James. I have to be honest I was totally shocked where this book went. It hit all the notes on eroticism and even showed what happens if a scene is disrupted. I love the creativity this author comes up with for her bondage scenes. It’s not always about how hard you can beat someone but how well you can disengage their minds. I’m gagging for book #2
This story ends on a cliff hanger.
This is still a well written, intense, hot, sexy and emotional read with unexpected twists. The chemistry between the main characters is off the charts.
I cannot wait until the part of the story is released.
I received an author’s copy and have left an honest review
From the first page to the last, I was riveted. The story and the characters are fascinating. Solomon and Vivienne have crazy hot chemistry even though they are estranged and have not seen each other in years. The scene where they run into each other at the Orchid Club for the first time since they parted was electrifying. I am dying to know their complete backstory which we only get bits and pieces of in this first book. This story is so hot and and so intriguing that I really could not tear myself away!
I am voluntarily reviewing an advance reader copy of this book.
Lila Dubois has created another intriguing set of characters. Two people who at one time meant the world to one another until it went wrong. You can’t rewrite history or live in the past and yet when Solomon Carter see Vivienne Deschamps at the Paris Orchid Club gathering their past slams into them both. Solomon seethes outrage and oozes contempt and Vivienne is world weary and suffering from decision fatigue. They both need what their D/s connection gives them….peace. The trick will be keeping their emotions in check.
Lila Dubois’ Orchid Club books are hot….. and this one is scorching. Focusing on Solomon and Vivienne’s past and present relationship, mistakes that were made, indecision, passion, anger. You name it, this book is so full of emotion, by the end of the book you’re taking full, panting breathes as it is just that hot and emotional.
Both characters are so emotional, stubborn, erotic but neither really listens to the other resulting in a push/pull relationship that as we know is spread into a trilogy.
For a first book this is great and leaves you wanting more, there is also a few characters from previous books that pop up which is nice to see. I can’t wait to read the next installment.
I was provided and ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I was hooked from the beginning of the story when Solomon was torn between going to the Orchid Club’s latest event in Paris to warn off James from falling in love, or leave the city that he hates. There are so many questions as the story progresses – why does Solomon hate Paris? And if he is sure that James will not receive his advice, why does he remain so adamant about giving it? I was so engrossed in this story I couldn’t hardly put the book down. It was interesting to see Vivienne’s strong character but who was also a submissive. The chemistry between Solomon and Vivienne jumps off the pages. I can’t wait to learn more of their back story and see what happens next.
This is a second chance romance, that had a spectacular crash and burn when it ended apparently. Our elegant, put together, Parisian sub runs into our reclusive, brash, American Dom, at an event for the uber secret BDSM society they both belong to. The sparks are still there, and they both have calmed down, so they agree to explore. Then, it all implodes again, for the same reasons, it seems, it fell apart for before. He is so stubborn, she needs to hang onto to herself, and all seems hopeless!
Now, how will this come together in book 2 & 3?
The words “I hate Paris” frame this story.
Solomon comes to the city he hates to warn a friend off falling in love. And encounters the very reason for his antipathy.
What happens during the three days of the Orchid Clubs Paris event, at first makes him planning a hopeful future, but at the end it confirms his believe “I hate Paris”, and everything that happened there.
Oh wow. Just….wow! I thought I knew what to expect with this book. I knew there was going to be some drama, a fair bit of BDSM, and a cliff hanger (I mean really, it’s a trilogy!) But I didn’t expect this!!! This book had me hooked from the beginning, and now I just can’t wait until the next part hits my Kindle!
Solomon and Vivienne have some heavy baggage. They were together, then something bad happened, and they weren’t together. (There are secrets that aren’t revealed yet, but bits and pieces are dropped) There is a lot of hurt, and anger, between them, but there is also a connection that is undeniable.
I’m not the biggest fan of cliff hangers, but when this author does them, she does them right. Each part of the story, while leading to the next part, still feels like it’s complete, even if the story isn’t over, and they haven’t gotten their HEA yet (I really hope that makes sense! LOL) So far, their story has been full of emotions, some that I’m not sure they even understand yet, and underlying hurt and confusion that promises to explode during the next two books. I am looking forward to the fireworks!
This is part one in a trilogy. I normally do not like cliffhangers, but I knew that this was a trilogy before starting. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the next two. There are secondary characters from the first Orchid club trilogy, but you do not need to have read that first, just a nice bonus for those who have. This story is all about Solomon and Vivienne and their possible second chance. Solomon and Vivienne met in their early twenties and dated for 5 years before things ended horribly. Now five years later they have a chance meeting at an Orchid Club event. WOW the chemistry between the two!! This book grabs your attention and doesn’t let go and leaves you wanting part two NOW!
A second chance love story? Maybe. Maybe not. As much as I loved the characters, especially Vivienne who is a strong independent woman at the top of her game. Solomon doesn’t believe in love. His reunion with Vivienne can only be as D/s. And as much as I like Solomon, his philosophy on BDSM and love is too arrogant to be tolerated. This story is more than BDSM though, when these two powerful business scions come together there has to be respect. Not just in scenes but in their public lives. I was so caught up in this story when it came to the end of this installment I was heartsick, but it was one sexy hot emotional read.
I’ve been waiting for Solomon’s story since reading the San Francisco trilogy. What or who sent him to hide away on his island? How did he get his scar? Why does he keep people at arms length.
You don’t have to read the San Francisco trilogy to read the new Paris trilogy. There are some secondary characters from the Orchid club and James and Christiana from the San Francisco trilogy make an appearance. But you can easily follow the story without reading the SF trilogy first.
Solomon once fell very much in love with Vivienne, but they ended badly. She not only left a scar on his face, but on his very soul. When they meet again in Paris, the fire between them still burns bright, and the chemistry is electric. Can Solomon keep his heart separate from his activities in the Orchid club?
This is a page turner with of course a cliff hanger. It is a trilogy. But the chemistry between Solomon and Vivienne can’t be denied. Now I wait for the next book in the trilogy…. Is it August yet?
