Some journeys are meant to be taken alone.Or so Amanda Martin keeps telling herself while searching for her ex-boyfriend who framed her for securities fraud.A year after hiding in the small Texas town of Phoenix, she continues to the border to find Josh Williams, to bring him to justice. Mistakes from her sojourn in Phoenix, including accusing a woman of murder and breaking David’s heart, derail … breaking David’s heart, derail her vengeful plans. But she’s getting close. Too close…
Josh should’ve stayed in Chicago to face his punishment rather than hiding out with his sinister client. A year in northern Mexico working for Rafael Vargas might as well be life in prison without parole, including the constant threat of death.
Drinking was the only way David Stephens could both forget and remember Mandy. She’d destroyed his life, forcing him to jumpstart a new career with the Border Patrol.
When she reappears in his life, he shoves both anger and love aside to endure the Mexican desert.
Amanda is forced to trust a man who betrayed her, and one who refuses to forgive her. Can Amanda, Josh and David bury their motives and grudges to survive?

One of the bonuses to this series is that it just keeps on getting better and better with each installment. This picks up right after book one, Phoenix. I would highly suggest that you read Phoenix before you pick this one up, or you will be for sure lost.
In this second book, Amanda has grown into a more confident woman. She has a mission and is set on reaching her goals, which is to find her ex-boyfriend and make him face the music so to speak. She wants him to fess up to what he has done and help to clear her name.
We also meet ANOTHER, ex in this book, David. He is a complex character learning to work through his life and issues with love and relationships as well. I really enjoyed his point of view on things and felt it added a nice dimension to the story.
Josh is a character that we want to dislike, really I REALLY figured that he would be one that I wasn’t a fan of, but I ended up enjoying him.
Will Amanda be able to find Josh easily and convince him to help her clear her name? Or will it be a too little, too late type of situation? And what does David bring to the story? Will he be a hindrance or help Amanda along the way? You will want to read this fast to find out and find yourself hanging on till the next book in the series comes along.
I honestly can’t wait to read the conclusion to this series. I was so happy that I picked up the books and can’t wait to see how the story will draw to an end.
Thrilling! Pardon Falls (The Phoenix Series Book 2) by Kimberly Packard is so good. It was so suspenseful that it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through. I didn’t want to put it down. Amanda is the star of this book and she’s left Phoenix and David. Josh is her new target and bringing him to justice is her new mission. Now that all three have basically gone their separate ways the each have to find a new way of life. David finds himself working for the border patrol and Josh is working for a dangerous man and hiding out. Even with all of this going on in their lives fate pulls the three of them back together and Amanda to clear her name. Can Amanda fight her feelings for David or will her still being in love with him jeopardize everything? David and Josh are trying to cope with the situation in their own way.
I thought this series couldn’t get any better and I was wrong. There were so many roller coaster moments and hold you breathe moments. Even the secondary characters had great personalities. Some were out to help the trio, and some were out to help themselves. I would highly recommend reading the first book because it gives you the background for why Amanda is on the run and where Josh and David come into play. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

“Grant me strength to continue this mission. Give me wisdom and guidance to find him. Show me patience as I try to right all of my wrongs. I don’t deserve your protection, but please watch over me.”
So many people’s lives hang in the balance because of one person’s greedy choices and another’s need to see that they pay for the turmoil they left behind. This book is filled with regret, sorrow, heartache, greed, anticipation, redemption, love, forgiveness, loyalty, secrets and hope. You will be on the edge of your seat and biting your nails wondering who is trustworthy? Who will survive? Who will be brought to justice?
“I’m sorry. Forgive me. I need you.”
I love how this book has such an easy reading flow from where Phoenix left off. Not a lot of recap yet you can pick up the story if you didn’t read the first book. You won’t fully understand all the feelings and connections until about a third of the way in if you start the series with book two, but it can be done.
“Fear and anger will keep you alive when I can’t. Hold on to that and we’ll be fine.”
Ummmm major cliffhanger…can’t wait another moment to start book 3 Prospera Pass. Have it on standby for when you finish this book!
“I want to push you away and pull you to me at the same time. My selfish side wants you, but then logic tells me you deserve better.”
Pardon Falls by Kimberly Packard
Four Stars
Pardon Falls is the second book in the Phoenix series by Kimberly Packard. This suspense/thriller was almost as amazing as the first book. I love how Ms. Packard brings these characters to life. There are three main characters, Amanda, David and Josh, and this book is told by three three POV. The characters are true to life and show a strong will to survive. This book take off where the first book in the series ended, so I would definitely recommend you read this series in order. The ups and down of the story will keep you on the edge of your seat as they try to solve the mystery. This book made my emotions pop. Sometimes I was yelling at my kindle and wanting to throw it across the room, and others would turn to mush. This is a must read and I can’t wait to see how this story ends.
Pardon falls Is book 2 in the Phoenix Pack Series written by Kimberly Packard. Book one in the series is Phoenix, while this book could be read as a standalone I would suggest reading Phoenix just because it was pretty good and it will help you understand the depth of Amanda, Josh and David’s feelings for each other. The story is told from alternating point of view between Amanda , David and Josh. Pardon Falls has it all, love, hate and everything inbetween. There is a book three coming titled Prospera Pass.
This one is definitely a stronger and faster book than the first! I LOVE when that happens, usually the first is a bang, the second is good, and then third is incredible. Well if the second is this good… cannot wait for the third!! Hurry hurry hurry.
I loved that we got more of Josh in this one, he really intrigued me in the first book and having him in a lead role in this one was fantastic. Be ready for the widest array of emotions you’ve ever felt while reading. Sometimes I was thrilled, then devastated, happy, then crushed. Amanda, David, and Josh will put you through the ringer. I’m a fan of books with multiple backstabs and twists, this one almost had too many!
Please don’t read this one as a standalone, there’s too much character development and relationships that you’ll miss otherwise.
This is the second book in this series and I recommend reading the first book first to help enrich your understanding of this series. I enjoyed this book more then the first. It is action packed, twists and turns and will keep you reading until the last word. We get to see more of Amanda, Josh and David in this book. They are connectable, relateable characters that keep the story easy flowing and took me on a roller coaster ride of betrayal, love and compassion. I suggest reading this book.
Pardon Falls by Kimberly Packard is the second book in the Phoenix series. I’m so disappointed that I’ve already finished this book but it couldn’t be helped. I was waiting to see what happened after Mandy’s time in Phoenix and wow did I learn a lot.
Mandy had changed a lot since that fateful day in Chicago more a year before and I think it’s for the better.
What can I say about David? Well, he evidently was the quarterback for my beloved Texas Longhorns and his life was totally different after Mandy left him and Phoenix.
I don’t usually read the sneaks authors put at the ends for their next book. I did this time and I can’t wait to read her next book!
Pardon Falls by Kimberly Packard
5 Stars!!!!!
This is the second book in this series and it definitely didn’t disappoint me. I found that the author has once again grabbed the reader and hooked them in so that you don’t want to put the book down. This book is just as gripping as the first. I definitely didn’t want to put it down.
I still really was rooting for Amanda as she continues her search for Josh. The drama continues with this book and the author has done a great job of keeping the story fresh and interesting. I found myself really going through the emotions through this book and really couldn’t wait to see how the story would unfold. I really found myself just on my seat’s edge as the story unfolded and at the end I was really emotional and now with the cliffhanger really want to see what will happen next.
Pardon Falls by Kimberly Packard is the second book in her Phoenix series. This book follows on from book one and should, in my opinion, be read in order to fully understand the whole story.
We are back to following Amanda and her mission to get revenge. Flitting between multiple perspectives we get to see a new depth added to the story. We learn more about Amanda and her feelings over what happened in the past. We learn more about Josh and his regrets. Each chapter takes us further and further into the story and the detail of these characters.
I loved this book just as much as the first. I thought the continuation of the story was done flawlessly and only added to the characters I have already become engaged with. This book has made me even more excited to read more of this series. I am looking forward to jumping into book 3.
This was a great adventure book. I liked the descriptive setting. I could almost taste the tequila and feel the desert heat. I pictured cut-off shorts and mid-riff tops that revealed too much cleavage. Tops down on a jeep. Dust, sweat, cactuses and sand. Tan hide rope necklaces in vintage pinks and turquoise. My favorite line was ” The name Maribell. Suitable off of a Father’s lips and suitable for a lover.” A heart thumper and adrenaline pumper.
Kimberly Packard has done it again! You really need to read “Phoenix” before you read “Pardon Falls” so you get the full story! About a year after the events of “Phoenix”, we meet back up with Amanda Martin in the small town of Pardon Falls, Texas. She is determined to find her ex, Josh, and bring him to justice for what he has done. Enlisting the help of a PI, Amanda is lying low and trying to sneak into Mexico to see if anyone knows where she can find Josh. This is just the beginning of the problems Amanda runs into! This book was so action packed that I had a really hard time putting it down! There was so much excitement, even to the last page! I seriously can’t wait for the next book in the series, “Prospera Pass!” So, I give “Pardon Falls” five stars!!
I read the first book a while back and really liked it. I recommend that you do read the first book before you read this book, while you may be able to piece together the story through the flash backs imthe latter is easier. Although there were some errors in the writing of the book I found myself falling in love with the main lead female character and actually liked this book better than the first. This book has a little bit of everything. Id say definitely check this book out and the first one out too.
Pardon Falls is the second book in Kimberly Packard’s Phoenix series. After getting side-tracked for a year by stumbling upon an unsolved murder in the town of Phoenix, Amanda resumes her search for the man who broke both her heart and several laws. She is determined to bring him to justice, even if that means turning herself in as well.
It’s a thoroughly gripping book. Switching perspectives between the different characters – Amanda, David and Josh – kept me in constant suspense as the reader has to wait until any given thread of the story can continue. The characters are often in dangerous and difficult situations so it really does keep you on your toes!
Like the previous book, Phoenix, there are lots of mysteries that gradually unravel over the course of the story. The characters’ relationships develop as well, particularly as Amanda and David have to work through their feelings for each other and the damage of the events of the previous book.
For me, this book gets four stars. It is an incredibly gripping, almost addictive read. I’d definitely recommend it, as long as you don’t mind some violence. I think I enjoyed it more with the context of the first book, but Packard does fill the reader in on important information as the story progresses so it could be read as a standalone. But book one is also great so it’s worth reading both together! There will be a sequel, which I’m looking forward to reading!

I am so in love with this series! Having absolutely fallen in love with book 1 I couldn’t wait to get started on this one and I was not disappointed at all. The excellent writing from the first book overflowed into this one to create an even more exciting to read story. It is important I think to read the books in order as this one picks up where the first book finished. Again I was very quickly swept into Amanda’s story as she goes on her journey to find her ex-boyfriend! There was plenty of action and I was kept on the edge of my seat the whole way through this story, just when I thought that I had figured out what was going on the author threw in another twist! I still really like Amanda too; I think she is great character who is continually developing throughout the story.
I gave 5 stars to the first book because it totally deserved it but I have to say the author took her writing to another level in this book. The story has this great multi-layer to it and her writing is just amazing. Book 3 really cannot come quick enough! I can’t wait to read it!
Pardon Falls was such an adventure! It is book 2 in a series and you have to read them in order. It is becoming increasingly apparent that Amanda is made of some pretty tough stuff, and she’s resourceful. Not to mention she has to deal with not one, but TWO exes.
David and Josh are a little worse for the wear since we last encountered them. It seems everyone has a lot to overcome and the only way out is through. I was literally on the edge of my seat in the last half, it was so suspenseful and I had no idea what would happen next. As it got near the end, I just knew there wasn’t a happy ever after yet and their story couldn’t be over. I’m looking forward to the next one.
Pardon Falls is the 2nd book in the Phoenix Series by Kimberly Packard. It is the continuation of Phoenix, and you must read the first book to know what is going on. Amanda Martin has been on the run for nearly a year, after fleeing Chicago. Her time ran out in Phoenix, Texas and she continued on to El Paso to track down her ex, Josh Williams. With the help of a PI and her own detective work, she has narrowed in on Josh in a small town of Texas, and is ready to bring him back to the US and turn him in. That is until The hunter becomes the hunted. Josh’s boss has caught wind of Amanda, and has sent his goons to capture her and bring her into Mexico, on his terms.
In the mean time, Josh is plotting his escape from the jail of his own choosing. He is hiding out in Mexico, working for a drug cartel, living in constant fear. Just when he is planning to leave, Amanda is brought in, along with her other ex-boyfriend David. This is the most complicate love triangle you will ever read about. This story is packed full of suspense, thrill, mystery, love, trust, distrust, the works! The characters are realistic and passionate. The story keeps you on the edge of your seat turning pages, wanting to know what will come next. I enjoyed the twists and turns, as well as the relationships within the story. I really enjoyed this book, and will be looking for more from the author. Highly recommend the series.
The second instalment of the Phoenix series, Pardon Falls, picks up shortly after the events of the first book. A crime thriller, we continue to follow Amanda’s story as she vows to get revenge on someone from her past. I loved the first book, Phoenix, and so I was super excited to get started on this one. Once again, the author created a fantastic story that was exciting from the very beginning. I am hooked on this series and cannot wait for the next instalment!
One of the things I liked most about the first book was that it was written from many different points of view. This was continued in Pardon Falls and we finally got to see things from Josh’s side, which added a whole new dimension to the story. We have an idea of his character from how Mandy views him, but seeing his life unfold from his own eyes is something totally new. And while it was fun to see his side, there was one person I was really desperate to hear from: David. He had really got the raw end of the deal by the time we got to the end of the first book, so it was no surprise that he had gone off the rails a little bit. It was hard to read his chapters at first, but seeing his character change and develop so much was very entertaining to read. The character development in this instalment was fantastic and for this, I cannot prise the author enough.
The author also upped the level of danger and fear in Pardon Falls. Things get a whole lot crazier and a whole lot scarier, with the risk of death becoming a real possibility for many of the characters we know. This threat forces Amanda, David and Josh to do things they never thought they would, or could, do and this leads to some very tense reading. Once again, some serious subjects are discussed throughout the book and the author handles these with respect and sensitivity. Amanda’s guilt for things that happened in her past because of her is particularly difficult to read, but an important part of the storyline that helps to further the plot and development.
Pardon Falls is another fantastic read. I absolutely loved this series and cannot wait to read more. If you haven’t already, I cannot encourage you enough to start reading it now!
Pardon Falls by Kimberly Packard is the second book in the Phoenix Series. This book follows Amanda, David, and Amanda’s ex-husband Josh as they deal with the decisions that they have made. Amanda is once again hot on Josh’s heals as she tries to clear her name. David has fallen into a bottle of booze in an attempt to deal with Amanda leaving and Josh has been hiding out in a worse place than the prison he would have been sent to. These three incredibly written characters are eventually forced into a situation where they will have to put their feelings aside in order to survive. This was a nail bitter of a book. The drama and suspense kept me reading late into the night. The characters are well written and believably flawed. This is definitely a five star read and I look forward to the last book in this series.
Pardon Falls (Phoenix Book 2) by Kimberly Packard 5 stars
This is book two in the Phoenix series and my second book by Kimberly Packard. If you haven’t read book one, Phoenix, stop now and go read it! This review may contain spoilers from the first book, as it continues where the first book left off. Mandy continues her search to find her ex boyfriend, Josh, who just vanished without a trace after stealing millions of dollars from clients at his dad’s firm. After framing Amanda, she seeks justice and sacrifices her life to get it. A year after running away from her love David, a town she loved, and a wrongful accusation, she finally has a lead on Josh! With the help of a Private Investigator who becomes like a father to her, she closer than ever to her goal. But that is when everything starts shattering around her. Not that her life was together in the first place. She finds out David has left Phoenix, Texas and she believes that is just another life that fell because of her. She never stopped loving him, but was too focused on bringing Josh to justice to live a new life she had built. She was scared to let David in on her secrets even though he found out parts and asked her to be honest with him.
This book and these characters are ones that will stay with me long after the book is finished. This book ends in a cliffhanger like the first book. I can’t wait until the third book is released to find out what happens with these characters! After meeting Josh, I really don’t know if I should continue to hate him, or hate him a little less. This story had me hooked from the first page and I couldn’t read fast enough! I love the suspense and mystery surrounding these characters. After this book, I feel that I have known these characters my whole life. The feelings and emotions that pour off the pages are so true to life that it is easy to get lost in Mandy’s world.
