She’s been dreaming about him her entire life. They’ve never met before, but she knows things about him no one else does.Stranger still? He remembers her too…As a small child, Quinn Stewart dreamed about a man named Nick, a man she insisted was her husband. Now, mere weeks before her marriage to someone else, she is dreaming about him again – and remembering a love that feels so real and … feels so real and astonishing it overshadows real life.
Neurologist Nick Reilly believes there is an explanation for everything – until he meets Quinn, a stunning patient who knows things about him she should not and claims she was once his wife. The most bizarre part? It feels like she’s right.
Solving the mystery of those shared dreams may be the key to saving Quinn’s life, except working together means fighting a growing attraction to each other – an attraction that may be the very reason her life keeps coming to an end.

Wow. Started it at 5am and just finished. Only stopped to eat. Trying reallllyyy hard to wait for my buddy reader to catch up before diving into book 2! And I should probably do something productive today like shower.
Great story. One-click if you’re a fan of paranormal.
Absolutely loved this book. A complete page turner that kept me guessing through the whole book. I fell in love with the characters and I can’t wait to read the next book. Fantastic 5 star read.
Love this book

It has been a while since I’ve read a book from this genre and I think I fell in love with it again. Nick and Quinn’s story is extraordinary and I can’t wait to share it with you.
Quinn Stewart is engaged and in a few weeks time will marry Jeff but lately, she has had recurring dreams of a guy who feels like she has known him from another time. Unhappy with her job and discontented with her fiancé, her unease escalates when the man she’s dreamt of ever since she was a little girl turns out to be real. Torn between her loyalty to Jeff and her feelings for Nick, she has to make a life-changing decision because time is running out.
Nick Reilly, a neurologist, is the man in Quinn’s dreams. He was sceptical of their supposed “connection” until a few bizarre occurrences happened. He realised that he also feels something for the woman he just met. “It’s like I’ve been missing you and craving you my entire life, at some level.”
I must say that Quinn and Nick’s story is so fascinating, it is unputdownable. Told in alternating points of view, I find Quinn’s character somewhat submissive at first and always going with the flow: her late father’s request, her mother’s dependency and Jeff’s influence on her choices in life. She eventually realises that she’s had enough and it’s about time she comes first, the lady finally grows a pair, hurray! Nick is the ultimate book boyfriend: a hot doctor, compassionate and has perfect bedside manners. Some readers might be put off because the storyline hints at some elements of cheating, well sort of, but I couldn’t help but root for this pair.
Since this book has a supernatural theme, it has a whimsical and magical feel to it and gives you goosebumps in a very good way. The chemistry between Nick and Quinn cannot be denied and it leaps at you through the pages, it is so hot it will singe your eyebrows, so be warned! Bad news and good news: the bad news is this book ends in a cliff-hanger and the good news is you don’t have to wait too long for Intersect – book two because it comes out in a few weeks. If you want to escape and lose yourself in a super romantic love story, this is the one I highly recommend! Ms O’Roark is a brilliant story-teller and I am a new fan.
I could spend an hour listing a bunch of superlatives to describe Parallel (enchanting, captivating, mesmerizing, enthralling, compelling, etc. ), but one word says it all: PERFECT. Of the thousands of books published each year, only a few reach the pinnacle of perfection. Honestly, I couldn’t find a single flaw in this book, and I am a very picky reader and reviewer.
What’s so perfect about it? Start with a compelling plot that sucks you in from the very first page and never lets go. Add intriguing characters, realistic dialogue, tantalizing love scenes, danger and suspense and . . . Okay. I won’t spoil this with a plot summary. After you’ve experienced Parallel, you’ll know exactly what I mean. (The editing and proofreading are perfect, too, and it’s all wrapped up in that gorgeous cover!)
Magic? Paranormal? Supernatural? Maybe. But if you believe in a love powerful enough to transcend space and time and even death, you’ll feel every word of this breathtaking story. My five stars only wish they were ten!
Loved this sliding doors type love story- it was a incredibly romantic, unputdownable, duet with slight paranormal elements ( alternate universes). It’s a book I wish I’d written 😉 absolutely loved it!
I found this accidentally , and I’m so glad I did. While I should have been writing, I just couldn’t put it down. This is a series, so don’t expect an immediate HEA. I look forward to reading the next installment to find out what happens next!
It’s romance. It’s suspenseful. It’s intriguing. It’s got my mind moving in all sorts of directions. Quinn & Nick’s story kept me glued to my seat and racing towards the end to a cliffhanger that only leaves more questions. It’s a fantastic start to the Parallel Duet and thankfully Intersect is available and I can dive right in!
Nothing like it in romance right now. Moving, with a plot you won’t forget anytime soon.
Elizabeth O’Roark is a new to me author and I am utterly blown away by her writing in this story. This book caught me by COMPLETE surprise! I am still shocked by how much I LOVED it! A book friend of mine read it and insisted that I do the same, so I took the chance. I went in blind. I had ZERO idea of what to expect and I don’t know if that lent to my discovery and inevitable love for this book or not. Maybe it added a layer to the mystery, but all I know with 100% certainty, is that I wholeheartedly LOVED THIS BOOK!
I am not a fan of insta-love stories, but this book was my exception because their love for each other was MORE THAN insta-love, it was a timeless love that was ingrained within their souls and it was undeniable from the very beginning. The connection between Nick and Quinn was utterly PALPABLE. I could literally FEEL the desire between them. I could feel EVERY emotion that flowed through these characters with each memory or encounter between them.
“Every day, you and I are witnessing the impossible. We’re having the same dreams, for God’s sake. You know things you couldn’t possibly know, and from the moment I met you, it felt like you were…”
“It felt like I was what?”
“Mine,”I replied.
This is the type of book that literally captures your attention from the prologue. This book was “unputadownbable”. Each chapter built and developed the storyline and characters deeper. I fell hard for this couple with each chapter read. I was addicted to their undeniable connection. I needed to know how their mysterious timeless love story would play out. The writing was breathtaking and absolutely unique. This duet has the potential to become my top favorite time traveling romance. Rebecca has laid the foundation for a phenomenal story and I believe with the direction she’s taking this mysterious and unpredictable story, she can execute it to it’s full potential. My theories and endless and I can’t wait to see how it all plays out. “I don’t know how many lives I’ve lived with him, but it feels a little unfair that I can’t live this one with him too.”
I love when I can find authors that can create stories that go beyond the realm of possibilities and make them also realistic to their created world. PARALLEL was that type of book. It was “supernatural”, but yet I was able to follow along with the stories as new plot layers were uncovered. This book becomes a literal escape from my reality because in real life this couldn’t happen, but while reading this book, I sure wish it was! I will be telling every book lover that will listen to me to read this book! It has definitely jumped to my top reads list of 2019!
5 stars!
I honestly had no expectations going into this story, but by the end of it I was so into it and submersed in it that I didn’t want it to end! One of the best things about the book was how Elizabeth was able to make it ride a fine line between romance and paranormal; whatever it is I was living for it! Quinn has lived her life pleasing the people that mean the most to her and going through those motions. As a child though, she had dreams of a full life with a man named Nick. After fainting and ending up in the hospital, her attending is none other than the Nick she had been dreaming of. Nick is a neurologist who continues to have dreams about a woman with no recollection of who she is, and when his latest patient comes into the hospital he makes the connection. This book focuses on the pair delving into the truth of their dreams and dealing with the consequences and fallout of finding each other. The cliffhanger at the end really threw me through a loop with more questions than answers, and I can’t wait to see what happens next!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
What a start to a great duet! Whew! The twists and turns in this story are enough to keep you completely sucked in until you are finished! I need Intersect right now! FIVE STARS will never be enough!
This was an excellent read. I was totally engrossed and couldn’t put the book down. As everything started getting really interesting, the book ended! Need answers! I need to know what is going on and why. Can’t wait for the next book.
I received an ARC of this book and this is my voluntarily, honest review of it.
Sometimes you start reading a book and you don’t really know what the story is about. It’s a bit of a mystery and then slowly chapter after chapter the mystery is revealed. Well, ‘Parallel’ is such a book. Of course, I had thoughts about what the story might be about, but I wasn’t sure.
To my delight, the writer really took her time to let us (the reader) discover the mystery. I liked that very much. Every time I thought that I knew it, something else happened that made me guess again.
Because I liked the ‘mystery’ in this story, I will not really tell much about the story in my review. Sometimes you have to discover things for yourself. I can tell you that the story is told from both POV’s. It’s an emotional story about soulmates and a deep, intense love.
I loved both characters, Nick is a good, strong, confident, caring and trustful guy. He’s just a great man. Quinn her character is also very likeable. She is also strong in her own way.
The story ended with a cliffhanger but that wasn’t a surprise to me because I knew that before I started the book. But luckily, you don’t have to wait long for the second book. I can’t wait to read it and see how the story continues.
I loved this story and I don’t even like paranormal romances!!! This says it all!
My first read from Elizabeth, Parallel is one of those books you have a hard time reviewing. I loved the writing, so precise and clean makes the experience of reading so much more enjoyable.
What can I say more without spoiling it? It’s a very intriguing and interesting story, with some twists and strong characters. One of the things that I liked most was how Nick is so alpha and adorable at the same time.
I can’t wait to read Intersect because all the secrets will finally be revealed and hopefully give the HEA that Nick and Quinn deserve.
Quinn Stewart is engaged to Jeff Walker and is getting married in 7 weeks but she is having vivid dreams of a man named Nick where they are together and she can remember every single detail. When she passes out she is brought to the hospital where she meets her doctor, who happens to be a man named Nick Reilly and is actually the man from her dreams.
Nick Reilly has dealt with a lot of things in his career but nothing prepares him for Quinn who remembers things about his life that nobody else could possibly know. He is extremely attracted to her and has no way of explaining everything that is going on with her life.
As Quinn and Nick struggle to find out what is happening with her, Quinn must also face her relationship with Jeff and decide if she is truly happy with the relationship she is in or if she wants to live life on her own terms. Will Quinn find her own happiness and figure out what is happening before it’s too late?
This was a super interesting book that added a few twists and turns that left me wondering what was going to happen next.
I thought what was going on with Quinn super interesting. Her dreams were so real and it was amazing how much she could recall about places she had never been before. Her relationship with Jeff seemed to be based more on pressure from her father and mother and he seemed like the “safe” choice so she wouldn’t get hurt but at the same time it was also evident how much of her own dreams she had to give up for their relationship.
I wasn’t a huge fan of Jeff right from the beginning as he seemed wrapped up in himself and truly didn’t care about Quinn and what she was going through. He knew what he wanted and never really considered what Quinn wanted and he was so mad at Quinn for her dreams even though he knew she couldn’t possibly have been every where that she could describe.
I really liked Nick and I knew he must have been so surprised with what Quinn was able to tell him about his life even though he had never met her before. Nick had to deal with certain aspects of his own life as well but there was something that brought him closer to Quinn that he couldn’t explain.
I found it super interesting about finding out when Quinn’s dreams started and who they involved back then. It was so eerie and just made certain things click into place. I found it really surprising when Nick and Quinn went to see Dr. Grosbaum and what they learned there and then everything that happened after that made things click but left you in an OMG kind of state.
The Rule of Three’s made me wonder what was going to happen next and then the very end of the book just left me shocked and knowing something super big is coming!! By Rebecca
Parallel by Elizabeth O’Roark is the first book in her brand new Parallel Duet . A romantic tale of two people who seem destined to be together but are pulled apart time and again by time and by some, as yet unknown, enemy.
Well-written and well paced, told in dual points of view between Quinn, our heroine that somehow intimately knows a man she has never met, details of a life they’ve never lived, and the specific of places she has never traveled to and Nick, the doctor she meets for the first time but already knows in her heart. This is a book that entices you from the first chapter. The need to know more, to find out what is going on is a strong pull. The story line twists and turns but never leaves you feeling overly confused. Romantic, wistful, angst-ridden and thoroughly intriguing. Book two, Intersect, releases in a short couple of weeks but it isn’t soon enough to get some answers to all the questions I have. Enjoy!
In a sea of books, some great, some good, and some not-so-good, is PARALLEL, the first book in the Parallel Duet by author Elizabeth O’Roark. This book, with its twists, its turns, its ‘what in the heck is happening, and how can I get more?!’ is one of the most interesting books that I’ve read lately.
I’m a sucker for paranormal romance and romantic suspense, and when they’re married together in the same book, well, I’m pretty much in reader heaven. In PARALLEL, Elizabeth has delivered a story that incorporates both of these genres, as well as plenty of slow burn (and by slow burn, I mean sizzling) romantic build-up, making for a read that had me locked in from the first chapter. Every time I thought I knew what was going on, who was who, and who was doing what in which timeline, Elizabeth deftly showed me that the answers are, in fact, yet to come.
PARALLEL is most definitely a book that deserves no spoilers, one that readers should go into without any idea of what’s waiting for them. A very solid 4.5 stars, PARALLEL is on my must-read list for this year. I cannot wait to get my hands on INTERSECT (Book 2), because I need answers, dang it, and you will, too.
Absolutely loved this book! Quinn and Nick are star crossed lovers who seem to have met at many times in many parallel lives but how is that even possible?
Elizabeth O’Roark weaves an intricate tale of timeless, impossible love, broken dreams, devastating illness, time travel and enduring hope. The intensity, the angst, the impossibility of it all kept me riveted till the last page! I never wanted it to end. Cannot wait to get the next book, Intersect, so I can find out how it all turns out!
