The stylish gentlemen of London’s Paragon Walk are suspects in a novel that “combines murder with a profile of the morals and manners of Victorian society” (The Atlanta Journal-Constitution). When innocent Fanny Nash of exclusive Paragon Walk dies in the arms of her exquisite sister-in-law, Jessamyn, Inspector Pitt is assigned to investigate her rape and murder. Every man of Paragon Walk is … man of Paragon Walk is under suspicion, even Pitt’s brother-in-law, Lord George Ashworth, who was the last to have seen her. Could it be the charming, enigmatic Frenchman? Fanny’s cruel brother? Wealthy Dilbridge, who hosts wild, decadent parties? As Pitt digs deeper into the mystery, Paragon Walk’s aristocratic haughtiness gives way to fear, its calm to hatred. To keep her sister Emily, Lady Ashworth, company in this difficult time, inquisitive Charlotte once again finds herself in the midst of a deadly mystery. In the drawing rooms of her sister’s neighbors, Charlotte engages in witty and sharp-edged conversations that reveal unsavory intrigues and bitter rivalries. On Paragon Walk, Charlotte’s probing despite Thomas’s warnings may prove fatal.

I love this series and look forward to reading more of them!
Anne Perry writes thoughtful, deep characters.
Excellent. Well written.
This was an excellent book
Revealed the real life of the Victorian times. Book portrayed the class differences of the wealthy and the poor. I like the main characters.
predictable
Another wonderful Pitt mystery solved. Love the build up for the characters and the depth of the writing.
I’ve enjoyed almost all of Anne Perry’s books. Inspector Pitt and his charming wife Charlotte, solve mysteries in Victorian England. The background fo everyday life, in the city of London and in the villages beyond, and then later in the series in the workings of Parliament, make this historical murder mystery quite entertaining and unexpectedly …
Fans of Thomas and Charlotte Pitt will like this one. It focuses mostly on Charlotte and her sister, Emily, so you get a lot of fashion info (which I love), but it also offers an interesting insight to the social prejudices of the times.
With so many characters, trying to keep track sometimes got confusing. The solution was indeed a surprise, but many unanswered questions leave plenty of room for further books in the series.
This book is a great late night read. I enjoyed the storyline along with the character’s personalities. Unfortunately, the ending was hard to stomach.
Anne Perry never fails to weave a great mystery. The historical background is very informative
Reminded me a little of Pride and Prejudice with the dialogue and manners. Very engaging.
I love Anne Perry’s historic mysteries – especially the Thomas and Charlotte Pitt series!
Enjoy this series
Not one of best.
Not one of her best books
Good series. Like Charlotte & Pitt. Unexpected twists & appropriate ending.
One of my favorite authors! I love the Thomas and Charlotte Pitt mysteries. This book was full of raw realism and tells of the definition between the classes in Victorian England. The story was riveting and keeps you enthralled throughout. The twists are unexpected and meticulously done. A great read!
Paragon Walk is one of Anne Perry’s early novels featuring Charlotte and Thomas Pitt, and is shorter than her later books. The relationships between husband and wife, and between the sisters, Charlotte and Emily, help define the characters, and flesh them out.
The plot involves the hidden secrets of the English upper class who inhabit the Walk. …
