#1 New York Times bestselling author Catherine Coulter delves into the terrifying mind of a dangerous psychopath obsessed with revenge in this next instalment of her riveting FBI series. When an armed man fails to kidnap five-year-old Sean Savich, agents Sherlock and Savich know they’re in his crosshairs and must find him before he continues with his kill list. Chief Ty Christie of Willicott, … Chief Ty Christie of Willicott, Maryland, witnesses a murder a dawn from the deck of her cottage on Lake Massey. When dragging the lake, the divers not only find the murder victim, they also discover dozens of bones. Even more shocking is the identification of a unique belt buckle found among the remains. Working together with Chief Christie, Savich and Sherlock soon discover a frightening connection between the bones and the escaped psychopath.
Paradox is a chilling mix of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, old secrets that refuse to stay buried, and ruthless greed that keeps Savich and Sherlock and Chief Ty Christie working at high speed to uncover the truth before their own bones end up at the bottom of the lake.
With unparalleled suspense and Coulter’s trademark explosive twists, Paradox is the twenty-second FBI thriller.

This Savich and Sherlock novel is incredible—don’t miss it.
It’s been a while since I’ve read a book by Catherine Coulter but when I saw she had a new book out featuring FBI couple Savich and Sherlock, I jumped on it. I actually listened to the audio version and it was awesome. The narraters did a terrific job with all the character voices as well.
The story was exciting, tense, and a bit creepy, and the main characters well rounded and relatable. I really liked the new character of Police Chief Ty Christie and hope we read more about her in the future.
There is actually a lot going on with two separate but somehow connected murder investigations: an escaped mental patient seeking revenge against those who put him away and the alarming discovery that a serial killer has been using a small town lake for his dumping ground. Coulter handles it all so well that it kept me guessing about things nearly to the end.
In this 22nd book of author Catherine Coulter’s FBI series, “Paradox” features multiple storylines that are equally gripping and suspenseful. Featuring fan favorites, Sherlock and Savich, these recurring characters inject a personal element into each and every story, and “Paradox” is no exception. Having read this book from cover to cover in just one sitting, this story is definitely one of my top favorites of this year.
The otherwise serene setting of Lake Massey in Willicott, Maryland, quickly becomes a crime scene of epic proportions, when Chief Ty Christie witnesses a murder from the deck of her cottage, only to unearth a psychopath’s dumping ground in that very same lake. Added to the mix is the failed kidnapping of Sherlock and Savich’s son, which yields an unexpected connection to the murder that was witnessed by Chief Christie in the first place.
Spinning an intricate web of suspense and intrigue, Catherine Coulter snags the reader right from the very start. The premise is compelling and the characters are well-developed and likeable. While I have only read a few of the books in this particular series, I find myself wanting to go back and further explore all the ones that came prior.
Whether you are new to this series or just discovering it for the very first time, “Paradox” is one suspense novel you won’t want to miss out on!

Holy heck, I think I am in love. I absolutely adore crime mysteries, but for some reason this is my first time reading Catherine Coulter. What in the world was I waiting for!? Paradox, her newest book in the FBI Thriller series was amazing! I cannot speak for the other books in the series, but I read this one as a standalone, and I was so utterly pleased. I can imagine I would have obtained some good backstory by reading the previous 21 books in the series, but if you have not read them yet, I would not let that stop you from picking this up. Wowza it was great!
While there were a huge list of characters in this book, it mainly followed Sherlock and Savich, a married couple who works for the FBI, and Chief Ty Christie, who lives in a small town on Lake Massey. When Christie witnesses a murder on the lake outside her home, she pursues the perpetrator. Then, the crime turns federal, and Savich and Sherlock come onto the scene. The situation quickly turns personal when it links to a past case that they had worked on. Soon the aggressor is after Savich’s family and anyone else who is standing in his way. He will stop at nothing to get revenge.
While they are investigating the crime scene at the lake, another discovery is made that take the detectives down the road of yet another case that brings in a whole other set of characters. This book had something going on at all times. No one could ever accuse this book of being boring. It was so beautifully plotted and everything meshed together in a perfect web of mystery, suspense, thrilling action and surprises.
In previous books I got the feeling the main characters are usually Sherlock and Savich, and I enjoyed them, but I think for me, Ty stole the show. I loved her strong personality, her determination, and grit. I got the feeling she may appear in other books in the series moving forward which would be spectacular. I am officially head over heels for Coulter’s writing after reading this. I cannot wait to dive into this series from the beginning. I am giddy about what awaits me!
Catherine Coulter fans will love this book, especially if they are already fans of FBI agents Savich and Sherlock. I gave it five stars because it was tightly and wonderfully plotted. There are actually three mysteries to be solved. One I tumbled to very quickly, one I began to suspect, and one totally took me by surprise.
The characters in this book are very likable, especially the three main special agents and the small town police chief. Some of the action strained my credulity just a bit, but overall it moved quickly and kept me interested from beginning to end.
If I had any one piece of advice for this author, it would be around her similes, which tend toward trite (as in “he was skinny as a beanpole.”). And perhaps a few things may have been overdescribed. All of that, however, was easy to overlook in light of the excellent plot.
Another great book by Catherine Coulter.
Paradox was a twisted unpredictable thriller. It was a page turner and filled with a lot of action.
I couldn’t put it down. I read all her books and she is a wonderful author. You feel like you r living in the book.
Secrets
It wasn’t until this fast-paced thriller wound to its conclusion I thought to myself that these FBI agents seemed to have an amazing amount of autonomy for government employees. Coordination with others is largely assumed as phone calls confirm findings and agents are made available for various aspects of the investigations and manhunts in two strangely interrelated cases in Sherlock’s and Savich’s backyard. But it was an enthralling ride with characters for whom you will care–and a surprise ending.
I love the FBI series from Catherine Coulter and this latest addition is right up there with those preceding it and I have read every one and look forward to the next.

I didn’t realise that this was part of a story when I requested it, and that it was book 22 in a series. This, however, did not really affect my reading of Paradox.
I love a murder mystery, a great palette cleanser between all the romance and thrillers I read.
Paradox gives us murder upon murder upon serial killer. The first 5or 6 chapters were a non stop thrill ride as things were set up for the rest of the book, however after that the pacing slowed dramatically, and at times became too slow.
I also like to be kept in the dark about whodunnit, however our person is revealed pretty early in the book, and then the other things that are revealed later in the book I had figured out early too.
At times this book was overly verbose, too descriptive and I was skipping paragraphs. To me this book could have been 50 pages shorter and told just as good a story – but this could just be me.
I did enjoy the book, don’t get me wrong, it was probably just a little too light and fluffy for me for a murder book.
I would read more of this author in the future though.
I love Catherine Coulter and she didn’t disappoint. I love how there are usually two mysteries happening at the same time. This book kept me reading to the wee hours, great characters and the usual great ending.
Non-stop action with the FBI’s finest in play. Sherlock and Savich foil a kidnapper, solve an old murder or two, and hunt down a wacko. All in a day’s work for these two. What a story! This is one you really need to read; I guarantee if you’re a Coulter fan, you will be gobsmacked.
Love this team, but the stories are getting a bit formulaic for my taste.
Savage & Sherlock are wonderful FBI agents, happily married & parents of a charming little boy. They are also to be found on interesting cases helping out the local law enforcement and doing a great job. This is a great series full of stand alone books. You can depend on coulter for a good read.
I am a big fan of Catherine Coulter and her FBI series. I love the characters and the stories are always interesting and unique. Good read,
Paradox by Catherine Coulter is the twenty-second An FBI Thriller. I am new to the series, but I did not have any trouble thanks to the author providing the necessary background information. Paradox has an appealing opening that had me looking forward to reading more. It was thrilling and exciting with someone trying to kidnap Sean Savich and Chief Ty Christie observing a man being murdered. I was soon disappointed when the pacing started to lag and there were repetitive details that were totally unnecessary. The overly detailed descriptions also did not suit this story. We are introduced to numerous characters and are provided a backstory on each one (or so it seems). Paradox needed a faster pace and more action. I found the mystery to be predictable. The twists and turns were not unexpected. I was easily able to solve the mystery (that may have something to do with the hundreds of mysteries that I have read too). I wish the rest of the book had lived up to the first few chapters that had me riveted. While I wanted a little more oomph, others have enjoyed Paradox. Paradox is perfect to read on an airplane, on vacation or at the beach. I just wanted more thrills, chills and chases.
Again CAtherine delivered a great story & I couldn’t put it down
I live the FBI books the best
Love this series. Characters are awesome
