Excellent read!
Once again Catherine Coulter goes above and beyond in her latest FBI series mystery and suspense book. Savich and Sherlock are on the trail of a killer after being called into the crime by Police Chief Ty Christie, who actually witnessed the murder and the body being tossed into the lake by her home. This story is more than meets the eye and will have you not wanting to put this book down. After dragging the lake looking for the body more surprises are brought to the surface. Along with FBI Special Agent Sala Porto assisting in the investigation, this is a roller coast ride you will be screaming to get off of but you won’t be able to move off the ride to the exit. I have read all of the books in the series and this one is a humdinger. Great job to Catherine Coulter!
Great book keeps you in expense all the way
This was my first experience reading Catherine Coulter and how lucky I am that she has written so many books for me to read. The title most certainly matches the storyline. I can’t help but wonder how an author lays out such an intricate plot. There must be a blueprint drawn up first like an architect would draw or maybe a mathematician with a long long equation. One thing about this deep and complex plot is that it is not hard to follow. This is a book you must focus on when reading because it has plenty of twists and turns but then this isn’t a cozy. It’s a complex novel of the crime fiction genre.
When you read a book and immediately like the characters and the relationships between them, I think this is due to the skill of the author in defining and describing them to a point where you can get to know them. I immediately liked Savich and Sherlock. I felt the same about Ty and Sala. Well, this isn’t fair…I felt the same way about Gunney and her Godfather too. Heck, I guess I liked them all, except for the bad guys, of course.
Another thing that was done well is the technique of combining two very serious, very complex crimes at the same time. This switching back and forth can often be confusing and very frustrating but somehow Coulter manages to keep her storyline weaving throughout all the time. Making you only anxious to read more about each crime and wanting to get back to it to know what is happening. Quite a feat or maybe just excellent writing.
***This book was provided to me by NetGalley and all opinions are definitely my own.
This is #22 of Coulter’s FBI thrillers with Savitch & Sherlock. I had not read the last couple and see here that their son Sean is now 5 years old! Wow, turn your back for a minute…! Coulter always does a great job and the story was meticulously plotted and moved along at a good clip. No boring stretches here! Also, this series is remarkable because Catherine Coulter, professional that she is, NEVER ends with a cliffhanger. Not necessary because people always want the next one without being tricked into buying it. Well, now I’ll go back and read the last two outings since I’m reminded how good they are. I also enjoy Coulter’s Brit in the FBI series, more great books with nary a cliffhanger. Easily 4-5 stars no matter what criteria used to rate them. Highly recommended.
Dynamic and Gripping
Agents Savich and Dillon have a new thriller that combines madness, revenge, secrets, new and growing affections and two unique small children! Someone’s after the agents and their son; they’re also involved with another murder, witnessed by a police chief that includes a haunted house. Enjoyed the new characters and the fast paced action! Page turner.

Saving and Sherlock at their best!
Oh, the twists and turns and this one was soooooo good! Savich and Sherlock have a young son who is targeted and the book starts off with a break-in at their residence and they find the kidnapper standing over their son’s bed. He gets away but this is the start of many twists and turns. Chief Ty Christie witnesses a murder and body dump into the lake across from her cottage while drinking her morning coffee and when the body is brought up, more bones and a belt buckle is found. More twists and turns…In true Savich and Sherlock fashion we are treated to lots of intrigue and suspense but even more, great characters. This was truly one of the best in this series! This is not a short book buts it didn’t take long to read because I could not put it down.
Kidnappings, murders and escaped psychopaths! Oh my!
This is my first time reading a Sherlock/Savich FBI story by Catherine Coulter, and I was not disappointed! Drawn in from the beginning with the attempted kidnapping of their child and a murder witnessed by the local sheriff, the pages flew by as I was drawn into secrets that refuse to stay buried and escalating into a twist of an ending! Paradox is a well written story mystery fans will devour!
Highly recommend this book to fans of mystery/suspense novels, and look forward to going back and reading more from this author!
