JUST BECAUSE HER HUSBAND’S NAKED, DEAD, AND IN A HOTEL BED…
…it might not be what it seems. But there’s that scarf in his mouth. Of course it is.
Given the situation, Kiki Lowenstein can’t help remembering that her (late) husband got her pregnant while cheating on his girlfriend.
>>>True, he did the right thing at the time, and their much-loved daughter Anya is now eleven years … daughter Anya is now eleven years old. But suddenly he’s dead, and Kiki’s financially embarrassed—that jerk disinherited his own family!
>>>Time for the timid to toughen up. Passive Kiki transforms herself into a fighter, walking right out of her luxurious life and into a scrapbooking store, where she deftly turns a hobby into a moneymaker. Her new gig goes slightly awry when her late husband’s not-so-ex-girlfriend insults her in public, but that’s just the beginning. The hurts keep piling up. How much can one woman stand?
>>>As her husband’s secret life explodes before her eyes, Kiki discovers that their daughter has a shocking secret of her own. Then the cops come for Kiki. And Family Services comes for Anya. No more Mrs. Nice Guy. Kiki has to fight for all she holds dear, and her quest must start with tracking down her late husband’s killer. Hope arrives for Kiki in the twin forms of a hot, homicide detective and her own newfound ability to cope.

Excellent story, I loved the characters and the different twists and turns that kept me guessing on who done it!
Great series. I love every single book page turner Kiki is so funny !
I like books that are a series but I like when they can be read as a stand alone book. This book doesn’t have the case over and done with ending that I like. The story is continuing into the next book.
I actually read this book a long time ago. It was good then and just as good now. I plan to read this series again.
Didn’t want to put it down. I enjoyed it so much that I have purchased next one in series.
I’m in the middle of this book and still can’t figure it out!
Okay, Kiki the protagonist is naive in the extreme. Even so, this is a funny, touching, clean and entertaining murder mystery. The bad guy is pretty obvious from early on but watching Kiki figure it all out was great fun. Wonderful characters — especially Mert, the cleaning lady and friend. On to volume two!
Interesting cosy mystery
Kiki’s husband supposedly dies in a hotel of heart attack and things suddenly change in her life. She easily believes that her husband owes his business partner half a million dollars and for that she sells her house and cars and gives the money to the partner. Her husband’s mother has been named as the beneficiary in the will, so Kiki and her daughter have no money left. Kiki works in a scrap book shop where she used to frequent to, to support herself. Worse, she is suspected of the murder of her husband.
So with the help of the detective, Kiki solves the mystery of the death of her husband.
The writing and the plot was enjoyable till the very end.
This was a clean read with much drama. There were many things going on in the story, but they were all linked together. It had nice rap up, but left room for a sequel. I love how the scrapbooking was integrated throughout the story. There was light romance. There were very humorous scenes. The book had me laughing and talking out loud. There were light religious overtones to the story. The protagonist was a bit naïve but she did not go against her common sense or make stupid decisions.
Paper, Scissors, Death is the first book in the Kiki Lowenstein scrapbook cozy mysteries. After the death of her husband, she’s going through hard times but manages to create a new life for herself and her daughter. Kiki is forced to search for a killer after she becomes a suspect in what is now a homicide.
Terrific characters in what was a new crafting world to me.
As a fairly new card maker, I really enjoyed this book.I liked it not only for the believable characters in a good story but also for the things I learned about paper crafting. I joined a paper crafters group at about the same time and it was nice to understand much of what they were talking about. I was hoping there would be a sequel by the time I was 2/3 finished with the book. There are people whose stories I want to see continue.
I dabble in scrapbooking so I found this to be a neat story.
This book was entertaining, easy to read and I liked the characters.
This book is fun to read, and I learned something about scrap booking while reading. The heroine experiences unfortunate mishaps and setbacks, but keeps her spirit as well as her sense of humor. Perhaps I should have expected a less-than-satisfying conclusion considering that this book is part of a series. Still, I would have liked the story to be wrapped up a little better, because I enjoy a wide variety of authors and may not return to this series. But you never know…
I am hooked on these cozy mysteries!!!! Love them!!
I loved this whole series!
Inconsistent writing and lacking reality base. Was rather hard o read when the main character is so completely witless.
Love Joanna Campbell Slan’s Books!!! I’ve read them all! They are always action packed and FUN to read!
I throughly enjoyed the style of writing and good word choices. Will read more of this author
The fact that she was able to keep calm with the mean Mother in Law was amazing. It was great seeing how she was able to move forward when her life appeared to be crashing around her and her daughter. She kept moving forward for the sake of their future. Good mystery and inspiring that she never gave up.
