I found the setting of the story in the Amish Country and the implications that has for the local sheriff interesting. It provided a twist beyond the basic mystery. I would certainly read another of this series.
Visiting the Amish communities frequently I enjoy this setting. Have read all this series
I enjoyed this look at the Amish community as it interacts with the outside world. Paper Roses was also a well crafted mystery which i always enjoy.
reading it now, interesting book
Paper Roses is one of those books that sticks with you long after the last page has been read. The relationship between the two primary characters is tense, moving, and jarringly realistic. I highly recommend this book for those looking for a good mystery.
Great characters, good story with a major twist – you won’t see it coming!

Keeps you guessing.
Interesting – Kept me reading late into the night.
ENJOYED THE BOOK VERY MUCH IN FACT WANTED TO READ SEQUALS
I’m a big fan of this series because of its honest portrayal of the Amish community in the context of some very creative plots. Yes, sheriff Serenity Plain has her hangups, but the reader isn’t constantly reminded of them. Yes, there are some elements of romance, but the relationships are more honest, complicated and real–rather than, well, romanticized versions of it. Yes, there’s violence but it’s not gratuitous. And my favorite: even though the book in one in a series, you don’t need to have read any others to enjoy this one. Better still, the author doesn’t make constant references to previous books. If a reference is there, it’s pertinent not a sales pitch.
In short, the book is balanced which results in a story that sticks in the mind far longer than those whose authors take a more heavy-handed approach. I don’t think I’ll ever look at a rose the same way again.
This is about what you’d expect and an easy way to while away an afternoon.
Great twisted who-done-it. I love the glimpse from the past that keeps you wondering through the pages. Images that shake to the bone and realistic characters’ responses puts the reader in the scenes as an active observer.
I enjoyed this book tremendously but I must say that it was one of the scariest books that I have ever read. If you enjoy psychological thrillers and don’t live alone, read it. Be prepared for a lot of twists and turns. The editing does leave a lot to be desired. There were many misused words and spelling errors.
An interesting view into the life of an Amish community when they encounter three of their women savagely murdered. The local sheriff investigates with little help from the community. A second side story of an artist renting an Amish home, this woman is drawn into the murder investigation putting her life in jeopardy. Murderer is not found until the end.
The characters were believable and likable. Kept you guessing. Good mystery and romance.
