Interesting story of amish troubles
Excellent
Interesting story line but too much of a romance novel for me.
The main story line was ok ant the romance (not really romance, mostly desire and sex) wasn’t all that believable. It felt like the author thought it was necessary to put the sex stuff in. There were just a few editing errors.
Predictable
I clicked on “Page turner” only because I was hoping to find a reason to tie it all together. The book was too superficial.
Good story
This is a story is about the serial murder of several young women in a rural Indiana Amish community. The plot is interesting, but the book itself suffers from writing and proofing problems. There are pervasive negative stereotypes of the Amish referring to them as “weird”, “frightening”, “dangerous”, having disrespect for the law, uncooperative, secretive, and corporal punishment of children being the norm. In my state we have one of the largest Amish populations in the country. Although their customs and beliefs may be different from the majority of state residents, they are not frightening or dangerous and are as law abiding as the rest of us. This story is written in an unusual first person narrative style that switches focus between two main characters in everyother chapter. The author was kind enough to indicate the narrator at the begining of each chapter, but I found this writing style to be distracting and more of a gimmick than an enhancement to the story. Multiple typos scattered throughout the book showed proof reading was not a high priority before publication. This was an “okay” read as far as the story was concerned, but I was put off by the negative characterizations of the Amish community.
I didn’t finish the book…use quit. It was too gory and unsettling.
It kept my interest and revealed a little of what life might be like in an Amish community. It was tragic, gruesome deaths and kept me wondering who was doing the killing. Serenity is an interesting character and hard to believe she is the sheriff but it works and it worked for me as I read it with interest. Worth reading if you like mysteries and the Plains People.
Well written but just too graphic and dark.
I started reading and liked the writing. However, the content got to be a bit gruesome for me. So, I deleted it from my device.
Not comfortable with some of the content.
A good read
As they talked about the murders it was quite graphic. Then when 2 characters ended up getting together (unmarried) I was disappointed and closed the book and did not read to the end. Somethings can be stated without going into so much detail.
A great story, intriguing mystery and well developed characters. Liked the Amish setting
amish theme is quite good, I’ve read others in this series, good reads
I found the plot interesting but I founf the depiction of the Amish to be very unbelievable.
Love this author. I have several of her books and just love to read her books
Love the entire series. I always look forward to reading her books.
