Billy “Panty Dropper” ComfortThat’s what people call me…Growing up with the last name Comfort meant that I’d inherited a legacy. In our small town, the older generation of Comfort men were known for three things: hard work, boozing, and tragedy. Some believed the latter was due to a curse that doomed every male in our bloodline to lose his true love tragically. I was of the mind that our fates … of the mind that our fates were in our own hands.
With my father’s passing, my brothers and I were the new generation of Comfort men. We were also known for three things: fighting, flirting, and another F word that I’d never use in mixed company. My oldest brother was the fighter, my baby brother was the flirt, and that left me. I’d earned the nickname Panty Dropper by the time I was legally allowed to drink.
It never bothered me much, until the day I laid eyes on a woman that made me want to be a better man. The only question was, would she see the real me, or would my past and the curse be too much…even for fate?
Reagan “Runaway Bride” York
That’s what people were calling me…
Growing up with a single mom who cared more about her next boyfriend than things like paying the electric bill, I was determined to create a stable, respectable life for myself as an adult. And that’s exactly what I’d thought I’d done. I shared a condo overlooking Central Park with my fiancé, who was on the fast track to making partner at the law firm where we were both associates. And which just happened to be owned by his father.
Cut to me walking in on the man I was going to marry, just weeks before our wedding, with his briefs–and I’m not talking about the legal kind–down around his ankles.
Oh, and did I mention the pricy penthouse we shared was a gift from his parents? Talk about putting all my eggs in the wrong basket.
In the blink of an eye, I found myself homeless, jobless, and ringless.
My “fresh start” landed me in a small town, where the nights are hot and the men are hotter. Soon, I found my reputation and job were on the line once again…but this time, I had a feeling it might just be worth it.

This is a new series from the dynamic duo writing team of Melanie Shawn. Small hometown, a bit of suspense, hot scenes, great family dynamic, great characters. These are some of the things you will get when you read this first book. Billy and Reagan are both awesome characters. I wasn’t sure if I’d like Billy because of his former escapades with women, but he really won me over. Dual point of view. No cliffhanger.
Another great story to what I’m sure will be a fantastic series. Reagan York and Billy Comfort meet under business circumstances but it turns to anything but when the panty dropper turns on his charm. As the start a friends with benefits agreement that escalates quickly while trying to uncover his family’s secrets. Sort of a Cliffhanger and I don’t like those….
Whenever I pick up a book by these talented authors, I know it will be a winner.
This first story in Southern Comfort proved my point.
The Comfort “boys” are known as the 3 F’s. (you’ll need to read it to find out!)
and to make them more intriguing , they are cursed.
In this introduction we get to meet Hank (oldest), Jimmy (youngest) and Billy.
This is Billy’s story. He’s the charmer and known as the Panty Dropper. But behind that charm is a man hiding his real feelings.
When Reagan York’s life was turned upside down, she left the big city for a job as a junior partner in this small town.
She meets the Comfort brothers during the reading of their father’s will. An afternoon filled with surprises in addition to an instant attraction between Billy and Reagan.
But the story is more than a romance. It’s a story about how one’s childhood experiences will influence the adult they become. That family dynamics, especially if there is physical and or mental abuse will leave deep scars. Evident with the Comfort men.
In Reagan’s case, not only her youth, but also her immediate past has left her doubting herself.
While the plot is engaging, it’s the complexity and imperfections of the characters, both main and secondary that make this story extra especially.
Another winner for this dynamic duo.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
What a great beginning to a new series! Billy Comfort is the middle brother and the biggest player in town. I think all the brothers were affected in different ways when their mother died when they were children. Now that their father has died, they are all gathered for the reading of the will. The forgotten sister Cheyenne was there. I was so glad to see how Billy protected her just like he did when they were young. Their poor sister is a whole another story that I am not sure about. Reagan is the new attorney in the office taking care of the will. I was so proud of how she has made something of herself after the way she was raised. I can’t imagine being so attracted to Billy from the beginning, especially after all she hears about him. As with most small towns, everyone is in each other’s business with strong ideas. I so enjoyed watching Reagan and Billy get to know each other, and how Billy started changing. There are strange things going on that concern the Comfort’s dead mother. I look forward to the next book to learn more about some of the secrets that people are keeping. I feel there is something going on that could affect so many people, and not all in a good way. I strongly encourage you to read the book. I was given a copy of the book and voluntarily wrote a review.
