ROOK
I’m chasing a dream here.
And I’m so close to having everything I ever wanted.
But I can’t start over when I’m still on the run.
Before I can become the girl I want to be, I’ll need to deal with the girl I left behind.
RONIN
I’m chasing a dream too.
I want a family of my own and life that has nothing to do with erotic modeling.
But I have a past as well.
A past that will make Rook … and life that has nothing to do with erotic modeling.
But I have a past as well.
A past that will make Rook question everything she thinks she knows about me.
Lies, secrets, and shocking truths will rock the foundation Rook and Ronin have built. Can they put the past behind them and move forward together? Or is this just another too good to be true relationship that will crash and burn in the end?

Rook Walsh is TRAGIC
Because life so far – just sucks. Some girls get parents. Rook got the foster care system. Some girls get Prince Charming. Rook got an abusive frog. Some girls get lucky…
Rook got a second chance.
I read all three of these books in this series Tragic, Manic, Panic. What a fantastic read, I loved all of them. The characters were interesting and unique, they all had their own story and the bond the four main characters shared was amazing. The story line was so addictive and intriguing, drama, action, tragedy, suspense, darkness and some very hot sex. The whole series will suck you in and keep you there until the end with it’s constant twists and turns, and fate or coincidence at how these four meet.
Extraordinary. Extra. Excellent. Three random “E” words that I can use to describe this book.
This book went there. What I enjoyed so much about this one, and the entire series, is that it starts out sweet. It doesn’t hint at any darkness; that this book has such a deep plot behind it. In book 2, we get hints of the plot, but in this one it blows up and this sweet love story involving two models turns into a whole crime-fighting, jail-going, FBI-ing novel. So much is revealed here! Of this “world” I have only read Creeping Beautiful and so now I have the beginning and the end of the world and I suspect that we’re getting the beginning of The Company.
I said it with the other ones and I’ll say it with this one: I love these characters! Ford especially. I enjoy Rook and Ronin together and I can foresee the author has great plans for Ford so this series was a tool to create his character and let us fall in love with him. Ronin is what Rook needs, but my goodness…! Rook and Ford have some crazy insane chemistry.
What I disliked is that while there is a good build-up to the reveal of her past, I found it lacking something. Maybe a flashback or something. A dream to what Jon did to her after having her sign the contract, or with the other girls that was brought in.
What a fantastic trilogy and I can’t believe it took me this long to read them. Onto Ford’s story I go.
Panic is the third book in the Rook and Ronin series. With Rook and Ronin chasing their dreams their lives couldn’t get much better. But when past secrets, lies and shocking truths threaten their relationship, Rook must finally face her past to save their future. This brilliant series continues to thrill and excite as it hurtles toward its gripping conclusion. An absolute must read!
This book was so good! I loved the way Ronin, Spencer and Fucking Ford worked. The way they meshed on their team. They could seriously do some damage. Rook is a badass in this book and her story is completely tragic. I cried! There was lots of action going on too. And Fords behind the scenes crush was kind of heartbreaking.
Rook and Ronin are finally going after their dreams but first they have to finish some obligations they have committed to. But in the process they both still have secrets they are keeping from each other. Will those secrets tear them apart or bring them closer together? Will Rook run again or will she finally fight for Ronin and their relationship.
They just keep getting better!! Had trouble putting this one down.
I read this trilogy years ago and loved it. I love the audible version also. Rook and Ronin are very complicated, they have many hurdles to overcome. Rook needs to find herself, and Ronin is willing to let her. But, Ford. OMG, Ford. He stole the show, especially at the end. I had many emotions happening and am on to Ford’s book next.
*sigh* To say I love this series is an understatement. You not only fall head over heels for the main characters, but the secondary characters capture your heart as well. I read this series back in 2013 and have just finished listening to them on audible and let me tell you, you Need to read this series, like Now!
While Rook is off working with Spencer and Ford at Shrike Bikes for the reality show, Ronin is tied up with his last modeling campaign, Giget with Claire (rolls my eyes, such a cow lol)
They are in a strange place in their relationship, they love each other but Ronin wants more, he wants the babies, wife, a home. And Rook is not sure she wants that, which puts an even bigger strain on what they have.
When the past starts to catch up with Ronin, Spencer, and Ford, and their secrets from their little partnership come out, it threatens to push Rook even further away especially when the FBI shows up and everything lands on Ronin’s shoulders.
Rook needs to stop running and face the life and horrors of her past in order to save not only her future with Ronin but Spencer and Ford too.
*sigh* Ford. I know this is Rook and Ronin, I know this, but freakin hell Ford stole the show on this one and I am not even a little annoyed about that, I mean part of me always wanted her to leave Ronin for Ford, the connection they have is incredible and just feels so right, ya know?
Omg and the epilogue? holy crap my heart is hurting.
I seriously could sit here all day giving you reasons to read this series, but seriously, just go get it and give it a try, you will be head over heels in no time.
Ok, I have to stop, Got to go, I have a date with my main man, Ford *swoon*
This series. I don’t think there’s enough adjectives to describe my love for this series. It ended in a great place with Rook and Ronin, it also set up for future books with Ford and Spencer. The epilogue made my heart hurt. Its books like these that make you remember them years down the road. This series I pimp out to my friends as “must reads”. It gets better and better as you go along. It’s more than just pretty pictures and body paint. It’s amazing writing I tell ya!!
All the excitement from Tragic and Sturgjs is over, Rook’s ex is in jail and Rook’s settled in as Spencer’s receptionist/ parts driver for the Shrike’s Bikes reality show. The whirlwind is over and Rook is bored. She misses Ronin bur he’s back in Denver working on the Gidget campaign along with Clare, of all people. Ronin is giving Rook the space she needs to reflect on her past and build her future. She’s still keeping secrets but then she finds out so are Ronin, Ford and Spencer. After Ronin is arrested, Spencer and Ford lay out “the rules” as Rook has now become part of The Team when they are forced to take her into their confidence about their pasts. Rook finally confronts her past in order to save Ronin and almost loses her life doing it. Letting go is hard but when she does she’s finally able to love Ronin as he deserves and can really look forward to a future.
“Because I’m not a runner anymore. I’m a chaser.” – Rook, Last Line in “Manic”
What an expansive, suspenseful, utterly romantic final book that finishes this trilogy!!! While chasing her dreams of a college education concentrating on film studies, and appearing in a reality TV show about Shrike’s Bikes, Rook is trying to heal herself from the years she suffered abuse at the hands of ex boyfriends and foster homes. She is separated from the man she has grown to love, her Ronin. He is busy with his own project the “Gidget” models. He only took the job so that he would be occupied as Rook spread her wings to fly. He was confident that Spencer and Ford would keep her safe for him. He waits patiently for his Rook to want the same things as he does.
Yet another level of intrigue is woven into the plot as Ronin is called in by the FBI for questioning and subsequently arrested. It is revealed to Rook just how cohesive a team Spencer, Ford and Ronin were in the past. They also revealed some of their crimes to her. She had seen them previously in action as they took on her ex-husband when he tried to come to take her back to a life of abuse. They explain each of their roles and inform Rook that she is now part of this team.
There is artful dialogue among the various players that keep the reader second guessing about everything. Ford described Rook to Ronin as a runner. She does eventually run from all of them but not for the reasons any reader could anticipate. There is no foreshadowing of the events that take place after she runs away.
It is a completely thrilling end to the trilogy. What’s more, the reader is enticed, even compelled to now read on about the intriguing enigma that is Ford.
As in the previous books, the writing is superb. The emotions conveyed are believable and moving. Both your mind and heart are engaged. Time slips by while you are suspended in this reality that Ms. Huss creates for the reader. The eroticism is satisfying, inventive and expresses the depth of the emotions our characters are written to feel. How lovely is it to “feel” the character’s feelings? This is an experience immeasurable in its worth and beyond price.
