Burned out by high-profile murders in New York and his love life splashed all over Page Six, homicide cop Charlie Crawford heads south and signs on with the Palm Beach PD. After months of petty crimes, he’s first on scene to find a man hanging from a banyan tree. Prime suspects are a hedge-fund billionaire with a thing for young girls and a bartender with a sketchy past and a ten-out-of-ten creep … creep factor. Right in the middle of it all is Crawford’s girlfriend, a beautiful, conniving gallery owner, ready to do whatever it takes to move up a bracket or two. Add to the mix a sultry real estate broker who knows where all the bodies are buried, a gorgeous forensic cop often one step ahead of Crawford, a Mutt and Jeff combo of stone cold killers and you’ve got Palm Beach Nasty. “Turner’s Palm Beach is a blend of desperate criminals, social climbers, merciless billionaires and surprising heroes,” said Publishers Weekly. “Taut and efficient,” Booklist said, and added, “it’s a pleasure to watch craftsmen at work, and that describes the author as well as the cops.”

Charlie reminds me of Danny on Blue Bloods. Does the end justify the means? An important question in literature and in life.
Entertaining story along the lines of the older detective novels. Nothing flashy, just two gumshoes doing their job. Good for a quick vacation read.
This is the second Tom Turner crime book I’ve read, and I enjoyed it. I’d actually rate it a 3.5 star, but half-stars not being an option had rounded upwards to 4. I like the protagonist and his sidekick, the setting is interesting (even though I don’t much like FL, personally), and it has a solid plot. The inspiration for the villain having offed himself (or been offed) only a week or so before I’d started reading the book, had added an element of interest, also. I’m very likely to read more of this series.

Just not my cup of tea.
I’m from that area. He definitely writes it like a local. Captures the personality of the town just right.
Enjoyed it.
The first I’ve read by this author — and would definitely read more. Wonderful character development
Great early Florida descriptions. Good detective tale. Brought to life the era. I enjoyed it.
Having lived in Palm Beach County for several years I found this book very realistic and interesting.
I like the Crawford character
I found this novel to be well written and satisfying. It kept my interest and I was intrigued wanting to know more throughout the book. The closer I got to the end, the more I wanted to keep reading. Well done.
