Come forth with an open mind, for an unconventional tale of love… handsome, funny and magnetic, and Freda feels like her black and white existence is plunged into a rainbow of colour when she’s around him. When he walks into a room he lights it up, with his quick wit and charisma. He is a travelling cabaret performer, but Freda doesn’t know exactly what that entails until the curtains pull back on his opening night.
She is gob-smacked and entirely intrigued to see him take to the stage in drag. Later on, Nicholas asks her if she would like to become his show assistant. Excited by the idea, she jumps at the chance. Soon she finds herself immersed in a world of wigs, make-up and high heels, surrounded by pretty men and the temptation of falling for her incredibly beautiful employer.
In this story of passion and sexual discovery, Nicholas and Freda will contend with jealousy, emotional highs and lows, and the kind of love that only comes around once in a lifetime.
** Not suitable for younger readers. Contains some strong language and scenes of a sexual nature. **

So unique. Characters that came alive in my head and then fell in love and let me watch. Oh, I loved this book. I reread it as often as I can.
Freda and Nicholas’s story is unconventional but that’s part of the appeal. A friendship starts and there’s underlying tension between them but respect for one another grows as the story goes on. Your heart breaks with the demons both are contending with and just when you are about to give up the story changes direction and gives you hope.
Well …
Best thing ever
I loved this book. I loved Freda. I loved Nicholas/Vivica. I want to marry this book. I want to cuddle this book. I want to be in this book. OK, OK, I know I’m getting carried away. But seriously this is the best book I’ve read in at least a year. I’ve read a lot of books and some really good ones but this one just touched me so …
So original!

I’ve read this book before and after Bohemian Rhapsody (again) …
Not my usual book but I am so glad I picked this book (and several others by same author) to read. I quit counting the times I have read this book. With each reading I glean new tidbits of color. The book is colorful, in both tapestry and language, but is so much more. It is about emotionally wounded people finding each other, pushing and pulling, …
Loved it , not your routine romance.
Oh wow, this was so good. It’s like nothing I’ve ever read before. It’s beautifully written and boy does it make you feel. Feels everywhere! !
The story is unique, I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it. It hooked from the beginning and I loved it! Freda and Nicolas are amazing together! *sigh* People of the world must read this book!!

What a wonderfully beautiful, unique story. I probably should add more to this review, but what else is there to say? I truly loved everything about it, and it will for sure be part of my top reads of 2017.
This book was way better than I ever expected!!
List my attention real fast
a bit better than the usual offerings. here, a transvestite chubby chaser finds true love with an obnoxious mouthy fat chick. but his makeup is on fleek so it gets 3 stars.
One of a kind. Wish there was more like it! !!
STORY WAS NOT FOR ME
It was ok.
HIGHLY recommend this as well as Killer Queen (which covers BEFORE Freda as well as AFTER Painted Faces through Nicholas/Viv’s perspective).
