Becoming an adult is never easy.
There are plenty of pitfalls and things don’t always work out.
Daltrey and Martin are young, in love and have the world on a strong.
Then reality twist and turns them until they don’t know which way is up.
Daltrey loses his father and home in a horrific tragedy and his mother upends him to the opposite side of the country to recover and start over.
The separation from his first love is devastating.
He falls in love again, looking for a safety net and instead finds trouble, falling in with the wrong crowd, getting in trouble with drugs and putting his future in danger
Tragedy strikes again and Daltry falls into a deep hole, cycling through drugs and depression.
He gets help, gets clean and starts on the road to the rest of his life.
Suddenly Martin reappears in his life and Daltry is so excited to reconnect with his first love.
Things aren’t easy though, because it appears as though Martin is in the same type of situation Daltry has fought so hard to free himself from.
These boys dragged me through the gamut of emotions, hugs and lows and I absolutely loved it.
Their HEA was hard fought for and so richly deserved.
Paint on the Canvas is the second book in the Love on the Line series by Lynn Michaels. This is a well written, emotional coming of age m/m romance that had me feeling all the feelings. Lots of Angst that comes with new adults finding their paths in life and love, lots of heat and steam of young lusts and loves, some hurts and comforts and even moments that made me laugh and smile. And the characters were interesting and kept me wanting more of their story. This was a very entertaining and satisfying read.
This is a true to life journey of how life can kick you around. How circumstances beyond your control can make or break your spirit. How choices made can make or break your life. Daltrey and Martin were the first for each other for everything. First friendship that turned to first love. Brought together by parents who didn’t pay attention, ripped apart by by adults who couldn’t control their own lives. After a traumatic event, Daltrey’s Mom uprooted his life by moving them across the country. Devastating both young men almost beyond repair. Two souls set adrift in a life neither could recover from. Except the love that never diminished. When they are brought back together, the scars of their separate lives are almost too much to bear. This is a story that Lynn Michaels will wring every emotion you have out of you with. This journey that began in the hearts of two little boys and tries to continue in the hearts of two grown men. I loved this book. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!!!!
This book is a love story for sure. But it’s so much more than that!
It’s a study in a human psyche dealing with a lot of trauma and pain.
What’s more, we get to experience it first hand, thanks to perfectly executed single POV. The narration is sometimes chaotic, distorted. You won’t find flowery descriptions and detached voices. You’ll get something so much better, so raw, personal and gritty, it will squeeze your heart in the best way!
I absolutely loved everything about the story!
