She was my best friend. The person I told my deepest secrets to. But when my world came crashing down, it was all because of her family. From that moment, I realized I’d been wrong to trust her. Her big caring eyes and sweet face were nothing but an act as she’d watched on while I tried to keep my head above water. That was our past. Now, I’ve largely put Camila behind me and moved on with my … Camila behind me and moved on with my life. Though it doesn’t explain why she’s always there: taunting me, tempting me, showing me the life I could have been living.
I should have been laughing when her own world turned upside down. Karma always wins out in the end. But suddenly we’re forced together once again and I have no choice but to remember the girl I’ve tried so hard to forget.

AmaziWow! This story had me so drawn in & at times it felt like you were going through this journey with them. It was like being on an emotional roller coaster & you couldn’t help but feel for both these characters. After Camila’s Dad had sacked Mason’s Dad as he had been stealing from the company he blamed Camilla for his Dad leaving & everything that went wrong going from best friends to him determined to make her life hell even though it had nothing to do with her. He has had to be the man of the house looking after his 2 young brothers working nights to bring money into the home as his mother didn’t seem to care which was taking its toll on his football at school. It got even worse when he found out that the enemy owned his house & she had been spending the money he gave her to pay the rent & now they were moving in with the enemy. Neither could stand to be anywhere near each other but they had mutual friends so given no choice but they couldn’t deny that deep down something was still between them & even though I wanted to hate Mason but I couldn’t completely knowing how his life had turned out but I really wanted them to be together the way it should have been if his dad hadn’t been a jerk. They go through a lot of heartache, tears, denial & chemistry before they can find a way to put the past behind them but just as it seems they may get their happy ever after it seems like fate wants to keep them apart. It had me in tears at times & I’m looking forward to Ethan’s story hoping light can be find it’s way back into his life as a troubled soul.

Paine picks up right after book 1, Thorn. This story is about an enemies to lovers story. Mason (Paine) finds Camila’s boyfriend, Noah cheating on her and is beats him up. A bit strange, as Mason has gone out of his way to be a huge jerk to,Camila. He’s a real piece of work, belittling her and making nasty comments. He was her BFF so he knows what upsets and hurts her. Mason is the only one who saw Noah cheat, Camila doesn’t believe him and sides with her boyfriend only driving a bigger wedge into their fractured friendship, but it also gives her doubt about her boyfriend for the first time in their relationship and thus starts the unraveling of the new life she’s built without her best friend, Mason Paine.

4 stars!!
Paine is book 2 in Tracy Lorraine’s Rosewood High series and it delivers the teen angst in spades! This is a friends-to enemies-to lovers romance and I loved the way it progressed! From book 1 we already knew that there was a long history between Mason and Camila, they grew up as neighbors and best friends until age 14 when something fractured that friendship.
At first I was a little angry with Mason for punishing Camila over something that was completely out of her control! But really…he feels pain every time he looks at her and can’t help but let that morphe into hate.
Mason brings the swoon while still managing to be an asshole. He both hates and cares for Camila. The chemistry and sexual tension between these two is pretty damn delicious! I loved watching (reading?) them struggle with their memories of friendship, current feelings of hate and then the longing for something more with each other.
I love that the alternating POVs back track a bit, we get the new POV chapter from a few scenes behind leading up to where the last POV chapter left off. This stood out to me as something different that I really liked (Thorn was done this way as well!). Maybe other authors have done this and I just never noticed it before?! I don’t know.
This is one bully-ish blend of the enemies to lovers trope that everyone can enjoy.
*Thank you to the author for giving this ARC as a prize in a FB giveaway! Can’t wait for Savage!*
Paine by Tracy Lorraine is the second book in the Rosewood series and boy is it a page-turner. The book focuses on the story of Camilla and Mason who used to be childhood friends but then something happens which makes both of their lives spin out of control and puts Camilla in the cross-hairs of Mason. Family misunderstandings, communication errors and general angst seems to throw these two characters for a loop and they don’t know whether they are better as enemies or lovers.
The story is good as it tells you what has happened in the past to make these two characters the way they are. There is certainly a lot of angst and passion between the two characters and you never quite know if they are going to work out their differences in the book. Mason was a great character and just seemed to have so much going on. In one way I felt sorry for him as he tried his hardest with Camilla but she never seemed to get where he was coming from for me. Camilla was a good character but sometimes I felt like she was quite naive and trusting until things were literally shoved in her face.
There are a lot of twist and turns in this story and at point it could be quite heart-breaking as well as steamy. Characters from the first book also make an entrance and seem to pull the whole story together. The author just has a way of story-telling which is really fluid and makes you want to continue reading.
This is definitely a must-read series and I can’t wait for the next one that will hopefully be coming soon. If you like steamy, enemies to lovers, NA books then Tracy Lorraine is an author you need to be reading!

Mason Paine used to be best friends with Camila Lopez when they were younger but 4 years ago events occurred that left Mason hating Camila and her family. Yet even through the hate when Mason discovers Camila’s boyfriend with another girl he is still protecting Camila’s honor.
Camila Lopez really doesn’t understood why Mason hates her so much and blames her for events of the past. She is in a relationship with Noah but is wondering if Mason actually caught him with Tasha, one of the cheerleaders, or if Mason is just causing problems again. Her best friend Amalie is also making her question things but she knows Amalie is there for her.
Mason tries to keep certain parts of his life away from everyone else but when events happen, Camila begins to learn what Mason has been going through and the things he has been doing for his family.
Will Mason be able to come to terms with the past and quit blaming Camila for events she didn’t cause, or will he crumble under all of the pressure and lose everything?
This is another awesome book in the series and I am loving it!
In the first book you can tell that there are two sides of Mason and that is also evident in this one. Mason has such a love/hate relationship with Camila and even though he hates her, it doesn’t mean he wants anyone else to hurt her. You also learn about how much pressure Mason has been under in regards to his two little brothers Charlie and Oliver and my heart went out to him for hiding everything from those around him.
Camila was a great character although a little naïve. I knew there was no way Mason would go after Noah without justification as did Amalie and Alyssa but Camila still believed in Noah. I liked the maturity that Camila had when her parents let her know what was going on with their careers and how Camila really looked at it subjectively.
There was a conversation between Camila’s mom, Mason’s mom and Mason that just shattered my heart. I was blown away by what Mason had been doing and how much he had been lied to with everything. I understood why Camila’s mom in turn offered what she did but I just felt horrible for Mason as he was so innocent in all of this and I got why he had so much hatred.
There were little moments where you could see the tension disappearing between Mason and Camila especially after Camila was sent a text that revealed everything. I felt horrible for Mason on his birthday but I was happy at how things went after.
I loved the conversation Camila had with Mason’s mom and how that just shocked her and it began to change everything and it allowed Mason to live a little again.
There was another part towards the end of the book that completely shocked me again and I felt horrible for Mason once again. It flipped his world once again and left him confused and once again he began to fall apart. I was extremely shocked at what was revealed through a drunk party and I was glad that Camila gave Mason another chance and I was so mad at Chelsea again.
I was glad that Camila discovered what Mason was hiding and how she helped him through things although things didn’t go the way I thought was going to happen and I was freaking out a little bit with what happened. Yet the events also really shook up Ethan who confessed what he was going through and why he had been falling apart lately.
The end was awesome and I loved where Camila put Mason!
The sneak peak into the next book looks awesome and I can’t wait for Ethan’s story!

I’ve read a lot of books written by Tracy Lorraine; she has done a great job at writing another good book; she is one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of books her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
I loved the chemistry between the characters.

I thoroughly enjoyed Paine. It was an intense book filled with drama, with characters that were vibrant and intriguing. Camila and Mason were both three dimensional leads that made you want to root for them while also wanting to through your Kindle at them. Their hate/love relationship is as entertaining as it is frustrating. If you are looking for a well written, enjoyable Bully Romance, Paine definitely satisfies. 5 Full Stars!
Mason and Camila were best friends until the age of 14 when his world fell apart. He blamed her and cut her out of his life. He felt like justice had been served when her world fell apart. Now their friends are dating and they are bound to run into each other. Will they move past the hurts and get back to where they were before? Tracy writes the characters with emotions that leap off the page. A wonderful addition to the series.
Have been really enjoying this series so far! A great read about Cami and Mason that had me completely hooked! Drama, angst, excitement! Loved it!

This is a really good enemies to lovers story, Mason is brilliantly flawed but still entirely lovable. Camilla is perfect for him.. I’m not a big lover of bully stories but I love Tracy Lorraine and trust she won’t lead me wrong. She definitely didn’t disappoint.
This is the second book in the Rosewood High series, and the story of Mason, and Camilla. Mason, and Camilla have a history, once best friends, until something turns Mason against her, and their world upside down, and friends turn to enemies. This was another great read, this was well written, and the characters have a great chemistry. This book was emotional, dramatic, steamy, and sexy!

PAINE (Rosewood Book 2) by Tracy Lorraine
5 STARS
Unfortunately, I didn’t tread Thorn, but I am on my way to read it. My God this book was sooo good. I LOVED IT. Thank God it can be read as a stan-alone.
Paine is book two in the Rosewood High Series by Tracy Lorraine. It tells the story of Mason and Camila and it’s written in dual POV.
Camilla and Mason are neighbors and they were inseparable. They were best friends when they were kids. Something bad happens and Mason’s life is turned upside down. He blames Camilla’s family. Their friendship turns to hate and Mason is taking his hate, pain, and frustrations out on Camilla. He wants to hurt her, but when he sees that someone hurts her, he realizes that he still cares for her. He still loved Camilla under all the hate. Mason (one of my favorite names) Paine is a bully football player. He is hot and popular.
Camilla was a great character, but some times she was too stubborn. She was sassy, she was strong and stubborn, but when it came to Mason, she was a pout.
The chemistry and sexual tension between them were so delicious! The story was a real page-turner, it had twists and turns, secrets, drama, angst and steam. The secondary characters were very well written. The whole story is very well written. For me, it was a great read and easy to read. Trust me, you don’t want to miss it.
I am on my way to read Thorn.
