She was my best friend. The person I told my deepest secrets to. But when my world came crashing down, it was all because of her family. From that moment, I realized I’d been wrong to trust her. Her big caring eyes and sweet face were nothing but an act as she’d watched on while I tried to keep my head above water. That was our past. Now, I’ve largely put Camila behind me and moved on with my … Camila behind me and moved on with my life. Though it doesn’t explain why she’s always there: taunting me, tempting me, showing me the life I could have been living.
I should have been laughing when her own world turned upside down. Karma always wins out in the end. But suddenly we’re forced together once again and I have no choice but to remember the girl I’ve tried so hard to forget.

Notes
In book one we get to meet them both, past friends, hate/love, drama, loss, addiction, abandonment, car crash, sport, family, help, heartbreak, love wins
It’s a very good story, but I felt that it dragged a bit in the middle, but the characters are awesome, the writing very addictive, storyline was so much heartbreak for both of them but the end is
A 4 star read for me
As with all Tracy’s books I am absolutely hooked. She is an author I can read and just become engrossed in the pages and feelings she puts into words.

The whole friends to enemies was so good! The book is filled with so much drama that you won’t be able to put the book down until the very last page.
Mason has liked Camila since they were kids. Family drama causes them to drift apart. The girl who he used to always spend time with has become his enemy over the years. Despite how much he thinks he hates her, he still wants to protect her even from her cheating boyfriend.
Paine is the second book in the Rosewood High Series. I recommend reading books in order, you will get way more out of it, added plus is they are absolutely addictive reads.
I knew I was going to love Mason so hard after meeting him in Thorn. And, he is EVERYTHING.
Mason and Camila are neighbors and we’re best friends up until 4 years ago when a falling out between their fathers caused Mason to end their relationship. He has spent those 4 years using all of Camila’s insecurities against her. She has spent them hating Mason and creating new friendships/relationships. Circumstances force them to be in close quarters and take a look at what transpired years ago.
Mason is the man of his house since his dad took off and his mom is useless. He would make all the sacrifices for his younger brothers. His deep need to protect those he loves runs very deep.
Camila was devastated when their friendship ended, but it wasn’t until she got a good look into his life now that she begins to understand just how deep Mason’s hurts run. Although, she begins to understand, she calls him out on his behavior and makes a stand realizing that the boy she loved still exists. He is just buried deep inside the Mason before her now.
This second chance romance, wrapped in a bully romance, topped with getting more of Jake and Amalie’s romance and breadcrumbs of what’s to come with Ethan has me wrapped up in this tribe!!!
Mason:
Camila Lopez was mine from the first moment I laid eyes on her. It was always inevitable, and it’s about time I started proving that she feels the same.
Paine was a great book. I really enjoyed the characters and storyline. I would definitely recommend this book to others

Another fantastic addition to this already so very addictive series.
Camilla and Mason get their story and it is everything I wanted and more… okay, so I wasn’t sure how these two would get their s*%t together and how the author would spin this… I loved the angst in this story and there is always something extra special about Friends To Enemies To Lovers.
Camilla was already a girl I loved from book one in this series, being bestie to Amalie. I found myself loving Mason way more than I anticipated, because he seemed so callous at times but conflicted all the same when it came to Camilla.
I did feel like his reasons for falling out and abandoning his friendship with Cami not fully plausible but looking back, in the eyes of a 14 yo it is very much true to age… and I’m loving this about this series. Yes there are a ton of issues that kids their age shouldn’t have to deal with but that is not to say like situations can’t exist.
Again, Tracy Lorraine created the right balance of angst, steam, and suspense in this story. Thank goodness for series binges- I’m so ready for Savage now!!
4.5 ANGSTY STARS.

This book is the second in this series the Rosewood High Series. I absolutely loved reading it and it was a fantastic follow on from Thorn. This is a real enemies to lovers story and a fantastic book.
Book #1 Thorn
Book #2 Paine
This is Mason and Camila story and after reading about them in the first book you will be desperate to read about them next. The author really made you very intrigued about them in the first book and seeing how there journey plays out.
These two had been best friends for years and told each other everything and leaned on one another too, that is until one day something happened that parted them.
Mason has had things pretty tough since his father left and he has been trying to juggle everything from school, his brothers and paying the bills, its very tough, he blames her family for it all.
Camlia has led quite a comfortable life and she has just tried to carry on without Mason and live her life but its hard for her to seeing him everyday. The thing is Cami bear has also had things tough and with the heat building between them both you will not be able to take your eyes of of them both.
I couldn’t wait to read the next book in this series and I truly loved these characters. They have such a strong connection and even though he hates her he will protect her no matter what and I love that. Mason just needed someone to be there for him to understand. He is a great guy deep down and will do anything for the people he loves and I truly felt for him in parts.
I also loved seeing the old characters to and seeing how they are now is awesome. This author really knows how to write a fanatic story and brilliant characters that the reader will really connect and invest in. I was completely gripped from beginning to end and loved every minute of this book, the drama, the love and all the steam. This story really flows and I love this authors writing style and I cannot wait to get my hands on book #3 in the series and carry on at Rosewood High.
This is the second book in the Rosewood High Series, an amazing High School Bully Romance. Mason and Camila’s story is beautiful, intense, emotional, and steamy. I like the series with interconnected characters! I loved it. I would like to revisit this story in audiobook. I highly recommend this Series. Looking forward to read the next book in the Series, Savage.
4.5/5 Stars
Disclaimer: I received an Advance Reader Copy at no cost from the publisher/author. All opinions in my review are my own.
From the bits and pieces of Mason and Camila that we got in the first book of this series, I knew that their story was going to be special. I am really glad that I decided to continue this series because I was really impressed with this book.
When I read the first book in this series I didn’t fall in love with the writing style. I can’t say the same for this book. Where I felt that there was a spark missing from the storytelling in the first book, this book really delivered. The narration was smooth, inviting, and engaging. I enjoyed the plot of this book. It was a very emotional story that I couldn’t read fast enough.
Mason and Camila were just stellar characters. I was immediately drawn in by their personalities. They were so likable and I connected with them straight away. I loved how much depth the characters had. The secondary characters in this book are great. I loved seeing the characters from the first book. Having so many awesome secondary characters added so much weight to the story.
I loved this romance so much. I am such a fan of the childhood friends to lovers trope and the author really pulled it off well in this book. The depth of the emotional connection between Mason and Camila was so evident. They had such electric chemistry. They were so right for each other and everyone saw it.
While I suppose it doesn’t much matter, I did notice many British English phrases and words throughout the book that an Amerian would not say or use. It only bothered me because I knew that story was set in America. It just brought the world-building down a few pegs for me.
Overall, this is a raw and emotional story that enchanted me from the first page. I really fell in deep with these characters and I am so thrilled to read the next book in this series. Bring on Ethan’s story!
Are you ready to swoon? I mean really swoon because Paine by Tracy Lorraine will make you do it. This is the second book in the Rosewood High series, and it is “wonderful” (imagine that in a sing-song voice). Once again Lorraine wrote a mind-blowing story about friends to enemies and back to friends and should I dare say lovers? I simply cannot wait for the third book to come out because it will be about the most troubled of the three boys that rule Rosewood High School Ethan. That being said, give me Mason every day of the week and twice on Sunday because he is, are you ready for it…..swoon worthy! 5-touchdowns for Paine by Tracy Lorraine.
Camila Lopez and Mason Paine were best friends. Their moms are best friends and they grew up together. Four years ago, Mason’s family fell apart, and he blames the Lopez family for it. Now his world is crumbling around him, and Camila still gets the loving family and happy home while he must take on responsibilities that no teen should have. Mason has made Camila’s high school years miserable and everyone knows the hate between the two. But there is an old saying that there is a thin line between love and hate and that saying is there because it is true. Senior year of high school is turning Mason and Camila’s life upside down and the more the two fight the closer they come to being exactly where they have always wanted to be…. with each other. With some known enemies in town, Mason might truly have to fight for what he really wants in his life, if he could just figure out what that is.
Mason and Camila were best friends until they were 14 years old and something happened that made Mason’s dad walk away from his family. Mason blamed Camila and her family so he walked away from Camila and made his hostility towards her well known over the next four years. And just when things couldn’t get any worse Mason’s mom looses her job, they are forced to move out of their home and their only option is to move into Camila’s house. Because that won’t be awkward.
I didn’t have the best feelings about Camila from Thorn so I was worried about this one but I had to read it because Mason totally intrigued me and I needed his story. And it did not disappoint. Mason was such an amazing guy who loved his family and would do anything for them. Even give up everything he loves. Poor guy is carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders while still trying to be there for his friends and trying to excel at school/football. At first I still didn’t really care for Camila. She was oblivious or naive when it came to a lot of things and that just annoyed me. But I respected how she never backed down from Mason. She always got in his face when he tried to pull his antics. I loved when she threw it in face that his issues were never about her or them but he made it that way and threw them away in doing so. It was a pretty epic speech. And even though he treated her like poop she would always stick up for him. She ended up growing on me and I think her and Mason are perfect together. Another great one from Tracy and I can’t wait for Savage. I know it will be a good one.
This was a really good enemies to lovers romance. Mason and Camila’s story was filled with lots of angst. Even though Mason claimed he hates Camila he always looked out for her in his own way. I loved Mason and I’m happy he got his HEA.

Camila Lopez and Mason Paine had been best friends for most of their lives until four years ago, when something happened that tore their families apart. Mason is filled with hate and anger and the worst thing is, he feels he has to hide it. Camila doesn’t understand why Mason is so hateful and cruel to her. After all, they were such good friends for so long. What she doesn’t realize is the fact that they were so close and knew each other so well, gives Mason ammunition to hit her where it really hurts. He knows what makes her tick. Regardless of how well or horribly he treats her, he won’t let anybody else hurt her. Her boyfriend, Noah, is cheating and Mason won’t let him get by with it. Camila’s not sure she believes Mason, but it does plant a seed of doubt. Ms. Lorraine writes with eloquence and puts so much detail and intensity into her characters. Paine is a wonderfully written book that creates and holds its mood, pace and form from the first page to the last.
Mason is my favorite!!!! Best friend’s to enemies to lovers. Mason and Camila story is powerful. I didn’t want it to end. Heartache, drama, love and happiness. Looking forward to reading Ethan’s story next.
Paine is the type of story that I absolutely love reading. It has angst, bickering, laughter, and bravery. Camila is a strong, independent woman that trudges forward no matter what is thrown at her. You can’t keep her down. She is perfect for Paine and his battered heart. Paine is the hero that has so much love but lets his anger rule his heart. Watching their relationship grow into something substantial had me devouring this book in a day. I can’t wait for the next one in the series.
I loved this book from start to finish. The characters are well developed and engaging and full of chemistry from start to finish. The storyline flowed smoothly from beginning to the end.

From the moment they met Mason and Camila quickly became the best of friends, they were drawn to one another, and often inseparable. With their families being so close they often spent time together, which only helped to cement the bond they had. But then one day tragedy struck Mason’s family and a wedge was driven between the best friends.
Camila was shattered when Mason pushed her away, taking his friendship and love from her, she was completely lost without him. Then she met Noah and he soothed the wounds Mason left behind, and stole her heart too.
But Mason isn’t willing to let her go so easily, especially when he learns someone is keeping a secret from her, one that would destroy Camila. He has spent years trying to hate her only to realize his hate was being misplaced, she needs him to save her, but the question is will she let him?
Paine is gut-wrenching tale of loss, healing, forgiveness and second chances. This captivating story line will pull you in from the first sentence, and hold you hostage until the last, I just couldn’t pry my eyes from the pages! This one did a number on my heart, these two tortured souls were in desperate need of saving and the only ones they could depend on to do it were each other… but they despised one another. As rough as this one was on feels, I have to say I found a lot to enjoy about it too, it words brought moments that had my heart in my throat, and moments that had it soaring too. I loved watching these two sort things out and find a little happiness, their story squeezed my heart in all the right places. Highly recommend!!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion
Pain is the second book of the Rosewood High series. We can read this story from Mason & Camila’s POV. They were best friends when they were kids but now they’re “enemies”. The chemistry and sexual tension between them were so strong! I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
